I did a quick and dirty continuation for the mod for those who don't want to use tweaks galore. (Basically just updated tags) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3350217733&searchtext=

Blows my mind that this isn't a standard feature in the game yet.
Гений Apr 11, 2024 @ 11:47pm
Man, hope you feel better ASAP, sending you rays of love! <3
JBloodthorn  [author] Apr 4, 2024 @ 5:12pm
@Arganot and @ everyone else, yes please just use the Tweaks Galore mod if that works. I don't have any time at all for modding right now. I still use this, and the xpath is still valid, but it's probably going to have the version mismatch error until I can get my ADHD meds refilled.
Arganot Apr 4, 2024 @ 11:14am
If people feel antsy about version number there is always 'Tweaks Galore' which has an option for this effect. Same rules for 'Common Sense' mod. Load after for the effect to take.

It seems to work for me too. Note: Mr. JBLoodthorn, I'm a programmer and I'd love to work with you to get this up to 1.4 standard!
Rob the Alchemist May 9, 2023 @ 4:49pm
mod works fine for me, got over 50 mods installed and updated to 1.4 and I see no problems so far, not even log errors.
Rogue Variable Feb 24, 2023 @ 1:17pm
Will this mod be updated for 1.4?
Farbott Jan 5, 2023 @ 12:22am
Packed lunches is just the war crime friendly version, portable picnic in a paper bag :)
Silvermink Dec 24, 2022 @ 8:12am
They pick up 1, it doesn't work for taming, so they look for more food, pick up another, repeat until they can't carry anymore or they have all your food. Animal Control I also disabled. Turning this back on to test.
Lik Dec 19, 2022 @ 12:46pm
The handler's food restrictions should have no bearing on what foods they carry for taming, but I guess if you're testing a broken behavior anyway that doesn't help
oliverrook Dec 19, 2022 @ 9:21am
@GalopaWXY That could definitely be it. I'm going to try using a custom food restriction without meals included and set it as the default for handlers and animals. I'll see if that works.
oliverrook Dec 19, 2022 @ 9:12am
Oh! @Silvermink
Is that why one of my pawns is hoarding so much food?
GalopaWXY Dec 19, 2022 @ 2:12am
I also have that bug, Silvermink! But this mod is disabled since the Biotech DLC came out, so it doesn't come from it. Personnally I blame Animal Controls for it
Silvermink Dec 6, 2022 @ 8:53am
This works fine in 1.4 for me except 1 major bug which I don't know which mod is the cause. Animal tamers will pick up meals to try to tame. Since they can't use meals to tame, they take more. Eventually they end up carrying all the meals and pawns starve. This mostly happens when no taming materials (raw food) are available.
Sanghelli Lord Nov 24, 2022 @ 10:11pm
This needs to be updated so i can get my pawns to stop trying to eat fair from a table.
Darius Wolfe Nov 19, 2022 @ 2:00pm
Not sure what's going on, but this has definitely stopped working for me in 1.4. I am constantly finding meals in my colonist's inventories, and when I tell them to unload them, they just pick one right back up.
Lik Nov 14, 2022 @ 7:26am
I've only seen animals carry food around if they had it as part of a caravan and the caravan unloading process got interrupted for some reason, in which case there should be a button somewhere to tell a colonist to unload them. This mod doesn't prevent animals from picking up and just carrying around food because there is no behavior to make them just carry around food intentionally to begin with. Granted, I haven't played with the latest updates or DLC, nor the royalty DLC, to know if any of those added that behavior, if so ignore this comment.
g-fourteen Nov 14, 2022 @ 4:42am
Does this work for animals too? sure hate that 20 thrumbos are carrying 10 simple meals on them to rot away. they arent even assigned to eat simple meals but they sure love carryine around my full supply of meals.
Bobby_Hill (♀) Nov 5, 2022 @ 11:25am
This mod is so goddamn essential to me. it really should be updated
Lik Nov 3, 2022 @ 3:41pm
I don't either, just clarifying confusion and concern of others.
Bobby_Hill (♀) Nov 3, 2022 @ 9:13am
oh... I don't see that as a big issue tho
Lik Nov 2, 2022 @ 8:00pm
That's... what I was saying though? And then I elaborated that this does not stop animal tamers from grabbing the raw food they use for taming since someone mentioned their pawns carrying raw food?
Bobby_Hill (♀) Nov 2, 2022 @ 7:25pm
@Lik No this stops them from taking entire meals into their inventories and eating the food without a table while they are working outside the base
Bobby_Hill (♀) Nov 2, 2022 @ 10:57am
please update to 1.4. I know it still works but an update would be appreciated @JBloodthorn
Gazzoose™ Oct 25, 2022 @ 1:58pm
Works fine in 1.4 from my testing
King Doom Oct 22, 2022 @ 8:19am
Is this gonna get an update for 1.4? This made the game so much better.
Lik Oct 4, 2022 @ 12:48pm
Carrying raw food is the prerogative of animal tamers/trainers. They will always carry some raw meat and veggies after training their respective animals.
Daisuke Oct 4, 2022 @ 11:18am
This works, except it doesn't, this mod works fine for me for the most part, my pawns do not carry meals anymore, instead they just carry raw beef and other raw foods instead
Bunnies&Cherris Aug 26, 2022 @ 2:02am
For those having issues with this mod, I would check other mods for "loadout" like things. It may be overriding this mod.
Bunnies&Cherris Aug 26, 2022 @ 2:01am
Heads up to anybody else using CE for the first time:
CE overrides this mod, no matter load order, due to it's loadout system, and can be worked around by creating a loadout for each of your pawns that doesn't include a meal.
Grimiskitty Jul 7, 2022 @ 12:45am
all my pawns are carrying food :| and I put this high up on the list of mods. Has the mod conflicting this one been found yet???
Lik May 23, 2022 @ 11:24am
Pick up and Haul mod has that functionality, though you do have to manually tell them to pick up the meds with a right click menu you can then tell them to keep as many as you want up to their carry weight.
Stellar Harbour May 23, 2022 @ 5:52am
Is there a way for stupid doctors have counterverse mod that makes them carry meds?
JBloodthorn  [author] May 13, 2022 @ 6:56am
Exactly what @Lik said. It's currently working for me with 250+ mods activated. If anyone finds a mod that breaks it, let me know so I can check it out and either add compatibility or warn people.
Lik May 1, 2022 @ 8:36pm
Works fine for me with a very long modlist, said modlist includes the alien races framework and a few races, but I haven't actually tested it on an alien pawn yet. I'm assuming for those whom it's not working there's some mod conflict. For context, it doesn't make your colonists drop food they're already carrying, just prevents them from getting the job 'taking x meal to inventory'
CaptainBadger Mar 5, 2022 @ 5:03pm
My pawns are also carrying food and such.
Smitey MacSmiterton Feb 16, 2022 @ 1:10pm
as of today (2/16/22) all of my pawns carry food and beer, even the humans
the_Gonopo Feb 15, 2022 @ 11:32pm
sadly not working for me
Tirith Amar Dec 26, 2021 @ 1:01pm
Is compatible with 1.3
Luxordz Dec 26, 2021 @ 12:36pm

Tel_Arin Aug 29, 2021 @ 4:18pm

Adren Aug 18, 2021 @ 7:36pm
Most important Mod for this Game.

Its not even the mood debuff, just seing them eating sitting in Cow-Manure, or next to rotting corpses, or waist deep in the river is driving me nuts.

Id rather see them starve to death than watching them shoving a plate of spagetti into their pants for later...
Daryl Lawton Aug 18, 2021 @ 10:23am
Thank you so much for this!
Tirith Amar Aug 15, 2021 @ 1:38am
Thanks, ^^ I also posted the same comment on the harpies mod.
In case it was something like this.
JBloodthorn  [author] Aug 15, 2021 @ 12:36am
@Tirith Amar - This mod modifies the human AI, so I'll have to give Harpies a go and add compatibility for them. I might be able to tomorrow after I figure out why Work Tab is incompatible with my other mod.
Tirith Amar Aug 14, 2021 @ 12:50pm
I have a mod called "harpies (continued)" (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2570622386) , and the harpies from that mod carry food around.
