Traits Reworked

As another small point if I may. Due to the massive changes with the UI, there's a bit of an issue where a nation's pretenders can obscure where the traits stack up on the UI. I might be worth chatting to the Better UI modders and see if you guys can get it to work a bit better, given you're working on traits and they're doing UI improvements, it could be a win-win! ;)

@Grand Historian
Absolutely stoked to hear it, these two mods in combination is a promising prospect! I'm so happy to see a lot of enthusiasm for 2.0, it's looking pretty good right now!

@Furius
I actually came back to Imperator after the 2.0 update and I'm considering updating the mod now that I have the time for it. I'll consider reaching out to the bloodlines 2.0 guy as well, thanks for the tip!
Magnus Furius Feb 22, 2021 @ 12:27am
Imperator 2.0 is worth updating this mod for. Your mod was a really exceptional piece of work, I hope you decide to continue with it, or otherwise maybe try a collab with the guy doing bloodlines 2.0, which also touches on the matter of traits. The two mods would synergise really well!

@truelove101992
Unfortunately I gave up work on this mod owing to a lot of irl stuff and Imperator's disappointing release, but when the next update comes around I may consider reviving it. Don't know if I'll be able to create an unaging one, though.
truelove101992 Jan 6, 2021 @ 7:40pm
Could you perhaps add an unaging trait?
CaveBoundGirl Nov 13, 2019 @ 1:34am
Thanks, and I hope you're doing better now. :)

@mgjackson86

Some personal events have prevented me from working on this, but that might actually be for the best given the upcoming character updates in Livy - with the new mechanics based around families, it'll save me from having to change the balance twice. I guarantee a Livy update.
CaveBoundGirl Nov 12, 2019 @ 7:47pm
Any news of an update, or confirmation that this still works on Cicero? I like this mod, as it really fleshes out characters' personalities. It_seems_ to still work for me, but....
MarkJerue Sep 28, 2019 @ 9:24am
dope!
Grand Historian  [author] Sep 28, 2019 @ 7:44am
I likely will.
MarkJerue Sep 28, 2019 @ 6:11am
Yeah, that's fair enough. Do you think you'll update this mod to work with Cicero? It'd be dapper if you did; it's my fave non-overhaul mod on the Workshop.
Grand Historian  [author] Sep 27, 2019 @ 6:49pm
@MarkJerue
I think it's a solid step in the direction Paradox needs to take, but the game that I:R wants to be isn't even halfway realized yet. It needs a lot more content and focus on character interaction/internal politics to feel like something more than a map painter.
MarkJerue Sep 27, 2019 @ 6:29pm
Random question - have you given Cicero a try? If so how's it look? :)
Constokivepolis Jul 30, 2019 @ 9:01pm
This mod might seem simple yet it brings a fun complexity to the game. A touch on Impertor: Rome traits and characters is a must do.

Its a lot of work maybe but you could increase the influence of the traits in game play by creating special events for specific trait. For instance, characters with 'ambitious' traits could get an event:

" FOR A BETTER FUTURE ! "

1) ' ease the tension in the senate' ( -4 charisma +1 finesse -? senate influence)

2) ' You WILL obey! ' ( +2 charisma + 2 martial - 1 finesse + 15 tyranny + 0.15% tyranny
- 0.15% popularity +? senate influence )

In the right circumstances a 'simple' trait could manage to lead the game into different paths and brings variety.

@Unknown
I don't have any plans on adding in new traits as of right now (and I don't know if the code would even allow for traits like that), but if I do it'll likely be focused initially on dynastic ones.
2Chillah Jul 15, 2019 @ 2:53pm
Can u please add ex traits like it was in the first EU:Rome like exruler, exgovernor etc.
Grand Historian  [author] Jun 26, 2019 @ 11:35am
@MarkJerue

Thanks! I'm planning a more extensive update for Pompey as well.
MarkJerue Jun 26, 2019 @ 10:35am
Update: this mod works fine with the Pompey update as far as I can tell.
MarkJerue Jun 25, 2019 @ 2:28pm
I love this mod. THank you for making it!
Grand Historian  [author] May 27, 2019 @ 8:30pm
@GodEmperorTrump

Traits already affect and are effected by ingame events.
EmperorTrump May 27, 2019 @ 8:13pm
there should be events corresponding to the rulers traits
Grand Historian  [author] May 10, 2019 @ 3:56pm
It changes the checksum, so no.
Bencir783920 May 10, 2019 @ 3:53pm
Compatible with achievements?
Nigilius Angelus May 8, 2019 @ 2:29pm
cheers for the reply
Grand Historian  [author] May 8, 2019 @ 6:07am
@Nigilius
Sorry, that's more a UI problem than a trait problem. Best thing I'd recommend is using the families page in the character tab to know about good eligible generals in scorned families.
Nigilius Angelus May 8, 2019 @ 4:06am
Hi, not sure if this in your remit but I am constantly frustrated when picking army commanders and want to know if they belong to a scorned family without constantly referring to the scorned family button. Any ideas please?
Grand Historian  [author] May 7, 2019 @ 9:12pm
@Jvoss123vv
It's worth looking into, if I can I'll try to include some of that into the next update.
Monarch May 7, 2019 @ 7:51pm
Hey, do you know if you can make ruler traits act like CK2? For every finesse your ruler has you get 2.5% national tax and 1.25% commerce, each martial 2% morale of armies and navies, every charisma 2.5% commerce income and +1 diplo rep, etc you get the idea. And yes I already know RULER stats apply a small bonus like charisma gives ruler popularity but it's so small that it doesn't really matter, and good council members is more important. If you were to make monarch skills more important, Monarchies should honestly give double what republics get since the monarch has more power than a republican one. I'd love to see monarchies get a buff for having a good ruler! Imagine getting 40% morale of armies for having a 10 martial ruler as a monarchy! Some would say that's OP but republics can easily choose their ruler for oratory and decide what bonus they want.
Nigilius Angelus May 6, 2019 @ 2:43pm
thanks for the feed back but now think so whats the point of females in this game unless they are rulers or give birth to them
Azikiel May 6, 2019 @ 2:07pm
yeah they are patrilineal, it says that in the text. If thats working for you then it is just me. hmmmmmm....
Ornlu Wolfjarl May 6, 2019 @ 10:37am
Female traits definitely have no impact. I don't know about stats, but traits seem to only be inherited by the father. Diadochoi traits only pass down from father to children for example.
Grand Historian  [author] May 6, 2019 @ 8:41am
@Nigilius Angelus
Not that I am aware of, unfortunately. That's something that ought to be added, though.
Nigilius Angelus May 6, 2019 @ 7:14am
Nice mod but a question please. Do female abilities and traits have any impact when married to a ruler?
Grand Historian  [author] May 6, 2019 @ 5:24am
@Azikiel
I looked into it and I couldn't find anything in the status file that would prevent them from being inherited, so I'm not certain it's the mod causing your issue. If more people do report the same problem using it, I can try to find the problem again, but for now I don't have enough information to determine the cause.
Azikiel May 6, 2019 @ 5:19am
Did you fix the inheritance of diaodachi traits?
Grand Historian  [author] May 4, 2019 @ 6:53am
@Azikiel
Thank you, I'll fix that tonight.
Azikiel May 4, 2019 @ 3:37am
This mod appears to break the diadachi traits as they arent inheriting in my game anymore.
Lopus May 4, 2019 @ 1:38am
@Grand Historian
traits marked with "congenital = yes" are inheritable
DAKKA May 4, 2019 @ 12:30am
@Grand Historian Can I add you so I can get some help with my mod? New to modding in general.
Grand Historian  [author] Apr 29, 2019 @ 7:36pm
@MtvYoloSwag

Not that I am currently aware of, but I can look into it.
MtvYoloSwag Apr 29, 2019 @ 7:09pm
Is there an "inherit" modifier somewhere?
I'd prefer children took something from their lineage, at least a 25% chance to inherit traits of their parents.
Grand Historian  [author] Apr 28, 2019 @ 4:26pm
@Shadowmio

Thanks! Hopefully Paradox makes some adjustments to the traits in 1.1 - I know that with all the mechanics they plan on adding in with it, I'll probably have to remake the mod from the ground-up.
Shadowmio Apr 28, 2019 @ 9:01am
Why this mod is not in the vanilla game remains a mystery to me.
Great work from you, exactly what I was looking for :steamhappy:
Grand Historian  [author] Apr 26, 2019 @ 6:07am
@Jared Dudley for MVP

That's owing to an error in code regarding some unreleased content, I'll be putting out a fix later tonight to resolve that.
Enzo Apr 25, 2019 @ 8:56pm
hey some of the names and images are missing for the traits, some are just a circle square and triangle together and others just have glitchy names, any way to fix?
Grand Historian  [author] Apr 25, 2019 @ 11:41am
@Minos

Testing has not been extensive, unfortunately, so I cannot say. Obviously any future changes will take feedback on that into account.
MINOS Apr 25, 2019 @ 11:33am
But is it balanced?
Grand Historian  [author] Apr 25, 2019 @ 11:23am
@Mayo

Thank you! If you see anything out of place in it, just let me know.
Pepega Apr 25, 2019 @ 11:22am
These are the kind of mods I was hoping for day one of release.
