it works great, wish there was a 16 one so ai cant take any territory your city would claim (mod wich spreads your city territory out to 8 tiles from 5; https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=447691067

This mod doesn't seem to work

Hey Everyone... Long time no talk. I just posted equivalent Civ6 mods earlier today for cities being 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or even 9 (yikes) hexes away. Enjoy.

Quick question before I try this one out. Dose each city use 8 or at least 4 tiles away as well? For instance you have 2 cities at the minum 8 distance apart. You get a tech that revieals a resource right in the middle of them. Can either city place a "worker" on it to boost production, gold, or what ever in that city?

Is there any direct download link for this mod? Usually, when I subcribe, other mod will start download but this one won't.

Yeah I'm in the middle of a marathon game on diety in the medieval times and don't wanna leave it, and I wouldn't mind seeing my enemies with their first few cities clumped together but their newest spaced apart. So if you can make it to where I can use it on my saved games I'd appreciate it.
Personally I want your 5 hex mod. Of all these it's the perfect mod. 6 hexes is space perfect but forces you to set up your cities in a geometrical pattern if you want to use every hex. But 5 hexes you can still shift here and there to make powerful cities.
On another note I'd like to applaud you on responding to your followers. If more modders did that then we'd have much better mods!
von Jahgmann  [author] Jan 5, 2014 @ 8:23am
@Fierysaint --- if i recall correctly you can only use this Mod when starting a new game. When creating a Mod there is a checkbox option to effect/don't effect saved games, but I do not recall if I checked that or not. I'll look later today and let you know.
Fierysaint Jan 5, 2014 @ 2:34am
Can I start this mod in the middle of my saved games where mine and AI cities are already built close? Or will it crash or something?
Stoorer Jan 4, 2014 @ 5:31pm
Thank you this will make the game much more interesting.
von Jahgmann  [author] Jan 2, 2014 @ 5:30pm
@crandaddy2 --- You're welcome. Enjoy!

This IS waht I have been wishing for !!! Thanks!
von Jahgmann  [author] Sep 15, 2013 @ 7:23pm
@ZellZin - Nope, just the minimum number of hexes betweem cities on the same land mass. I like your idea though ---- I'll did around and see if that it doable.
Haunter Sep 14, 2013 @ 10:12pm
Does this also affect the distance citizens can work?
DuncanGW Sep 4, 2013 @ 4:48pm
So I first realized the issue was that I was loading the games through the initial start screen. If I click mods, then load through that way, it works, but only on the 6 hex mod. The 8 hex mod would not load, even that way. I isolated down to just these mods to test, so at the time of testing there was nothing else installed. It was BnW too.

On a side note, 6 hex works great and is just a good. Still have everyone hating me and denouncing me though..... but at least they are away from me. :)

Great mod too. gives a lot more strategic thought to the game IMO.
von Jahgmann  [author] Sep 1, 2013 @ 10:02pm
@prof_xavier --- That seems, well, suspicious/interesting. Saved games should requie the same Mod without changing it. Once loaded, only another mod that also affects the city distance should be able to undo the rule change. Are you playing with any other mods?
DuncanGW Sep 1, 2013 @ 2:51pm
Not too sure if this is isolated to my game specifically, but for some reason it is not loading on my saved games. The original play through worked great, but when I load my game they all start city spamming again. I am gonna try the 6 hex and see if that works, but wanted to mention it. (I may be missing an easy fix.)

Anyone else having difficulties getting this to work in G&K? I am also using the mod to show City Limits, and have edited the mod to be able to show 8 hexes, however it still doesnt work anything other than 3 away. Any guesses as to why?
Wunkem the Wiener Aug 29, 2013 @ 8:46am
@von Jahgmann Thanks, I subscribed! Should have checked your other files.
von Jahgmann  [author] Aug 27, 2013 @ 7:51pm
@Col. Hathi - I get your point though I think the formula the AI uses for complaining is some multiplier factor of whatever the distance is. As to what the factor is, I do not know --- at least yet.
von Jahgmann  [author] Aug 27, 2013 @ 7:49pm
@FunkyJunk97 - Spot on in my opinion. I've have 2,4,5,6,7 & 8 versions of this mod. The default/vanilla value is 3 and I personally play at 4, but ended up creating the others mods due to lots of requests. Believe it or not, I have now received requests for 9 and 10!

You can get to the 4 mod by clicking the von Jahgmann's workshop above the 8, then selecting the 4

Cheers.
Col. Hathi Aug 27, 2013 @ 1:38pm
As much as I would like to see less city spamming, wouldn't this make the "Don't settle new cities near us" diplomatic message obsolete?
Wunkem the Wiener Aug 26, 2013 @ 11:49am
8 Hexes is a little far in my opinion, making it too difficult to settle new lands. Could you make another mod which changes the minimum distance to 6? That way, working tiles don't intersect between cities and it still solves the problem of city spamming, while there is still enough room to expanded several cities.
von Jahgmann  [author] Aug 25, 2013 @ 7:54am
@AiAsten - I don't know the answer to that one --- but in playing the the "4" and "5" mods I can't say I have seen a diiference between those and the default/vanilla "3" setting. I might bounce your question off of the CivFanatics folks and see if anyone knows.
Smug Devil Aug 24, 2013 @ 11:52pm
does this also change the way the great wall chains with other cities?
von Jahgmann  [author] Aug 24, 2013 @ 2:03pm
@chad_mcd2008. I hear you on that, I personally prefer the "4" as the produces less spammy maps but still works niec on small maps too. The "4" was the first of the mods --- but right after I uploaded folks immediately asked for 5 and 6 and then later 2,7,8. Good luck!
kingslayer Aug 24, 2013 @ 10:47am
This mod is probably best for huge maps, I assume. I tried it with Standard and some City States failed to settle a city because their settlers were too close to my capital. But I do like the concept though. Gonna try one of your other mods(The five hex mod).
Raknarius Aug 23, 2013 @ 7:31pm
woots you rock, i cant imagine civ five without your mods
von Jahgmann  [author] Aug 22, 2013 @ 12:10pm
So here is the "8" mod. Should be compatible with Vanilla, Gods & Kings and Brave New World. Enjoy!
von Jahgmann  [author] Aug 22, 2013 @ 12:09pm
I originally created the "4" mod to reduce AI city spam so that I would not have to hand edit the game's XML to get the behavior I like. After uploading the "4" mod, folks promptly asked for sibling "5" and "6" mods too. Done.

Surprisingly, at least to me, yet more folks have since asked for additional mods with the distance set to "2", "7" and "8". At long last, done. Cheers.
