Hey Buzzil, I was wondering if you could give me some pointers to help me get a compatibility patch for a unit of mine's custom MG. I would appreciate any help!

So I love this mod, but is there a way to make it so that people can't run around when the tripod is attached to a machine gun that they are carrying? It would be awesome to have a setting to force walking when the tripod was attached if thats possible.

Hey Buzzil. As a long time machine gunner, i love this mod heaps!
I was wondering if there was any chance you could make this work using ace and a second person? say you have a MG assistant like IRL and they interact on your MG and deploy the tripod, similar to the linking belts and swapping barrels in ace. This is how they would do it IRL.

I can confirm the conflict wit Animated Recoil coefficient changer mod. When you deploy the bipod, the Hand gesture activated, then fire the first round, Hand gesture will be back to vanilla status.

Possible patch for the "Animated Recoil coefficient changer" mod? Essentially, the recoil mod adds more realistic recoil in the game, but overwrites this mod to the point of where it does not function as it should.

I have tried to put these in a backpack and that does not work, Also you can not put into a vehicle or pull these from vehicle inventory . The sniper tripod all that functionality works but not with the MG variants on the appropriate weapon systems .

Buzzil, it's great to hear that you're inviting community contributions to the addon. What copyright license applies to the source code? I like the "GPLv2 or later". The ACE3 addon has gotten good results by choosing that license. https://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-recommendations.html

Sorry, i have no free time now. It's not hard to do, so if you want - you can try by yourself, asking thinks that you don't understand (e.g. we can create topic here and discuss).
For you information - this mod will work only if mod's weapon already uses bipod slot (e.g. detachable bipods), otherwise you can only apply gesture switch on deploy, no tripod.

Briefly it's only about:
1) Getting mod's classes and it's structure
2) Add Reload and Reloaded EHs to class
3) Update WeaponSlotsInfo class and add tripod class to compatibleItems
4) Add dzn_MG_Tripod_deployedGesture property and select what deployed hand anim should be used for stand/crouch/prone states
5) Make proper dependency in CfgPatches - requiredAddons array (making compat mod forced to load after SOG/Spearpoint mod)

Cannot confirm. Works fine with RHS M249 and A3 Marksman's MGs.

Tripod action only available when you not in the vehicle and MG has no bipod attached (for RHS it also means no grips in bipod slot). Try to test without any other mods except CBA and MG Tripod.

Maybe Im missing something but Universal Tripod does not seem to work since update. I can use tripod only if I equip the tripod on the gun to start. If I select the tripod in launcher slot I get no prompt to attach. This is with all related mods.

It can use 3 Vanilla Bipods, but isn't able to use this it seems. I actually have no way how to make a Compatibility patch but I'll look into it!

If it has underbarrel proxy you can make micro-mod in same manner as CUP/RHS compats are made (see github repo for reference).
If not - ask OPTRE devs to add underbarrel proxy :steamhappy:

It shouldn't. MG tripod is about solid platform that sustain mg weight and recoil, but not about keeping scope perfectly vertical

I think I found another bug with the gesture stance: When I have the bipod/tripod deployed and switch to my binoculars he will pull out a non functioning invisible binocular. If I stow the bipod/tripod first (no longer the special gesture stance) everything works fine.

Please, use only action menu to attach/detach tripod (at least i tried to disable bipod slot on weapon once attached, so there no way to accidentaly remove it). If happens via action menu - please provide some info - what gun, what tripod and what steps to reproduce.
is the tripod disposable? taking it off I can no longer attach it back on gun

Yes, using action menu's 'Dismount (Tripod name)' while MG is in hands
