Mod is overwriting customization of character pool soldiers.

Alright, thanks for quick answer.
Iridar  [author] Apr 19 @ 3:53am
Afaik AOTI messes with soldier appearance generation, so probably nothing you can do here.
1142 Apr 19 @ 1:59am
The mod worked fine for many months, now it randomly started to generate soldiers with custom body parts from newely added mods, mainly Armours of the Imperium (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1562717298) and Officio Assassinorum (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1943755557) . Any idea of fixing it?

No
Nauyaca Apr 7 @ 10:19pm
hello, is there a way to make it a blacklist instead of a whitelist?
Iridar  [author] Dec 2, 2024 @ 12:13am
This mod has no effect on that.
SeventhCorgi1 Dec 1, 2024 @ 11:08am
How would this mod handle other mods such as Modular X-COM Hero Suits and [WOTC] Claus Hero Cosmetics Compendium? I noticed when equipping the any of the Resistance Armor or Warden armor the legs, arms and shoulders would default to pieces used by those mods instead of the standard vanilla torso, arms and legs.
Makk Sep 14, 2024 @ 10:29am
Hey I assumed that those TemplateNames in XComSoldierGeneration.ini decide what could be choosed when generating soldiers, such as their voice like 'MaleVoice1_English_US'? Does it mean, if I subscribe lots of voice mod, they can't be generated according to the soldiers' nation?
Ray Aug 19, 2024 @ 5:45am
Thanks, yeah I always delete the 2k launcher its like malware when trying to play games that require it, came back to try vanilla xcom 2 without any mods a while back (also without AML) and instantly crashed...
Iridar  [author] Aug 19, 2024 @ 5:37am
Instructions for cleaning config are here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/xcom2mods/wiki/mod_troubleshooting#wiki_regenerate_user_config

Don't use 2k launcher ever.
Ray Aug 19, 2024 @ 4:05am
Thanks for the reply, can confirm I am not using unrestricted customization but I had it apparently in my cofig file saved there for some reason. Right now I have fully reset my mod set up by nuking my config folder and I'll try again and see if any other weird mod armors appear with this installed after my fresh set up. Though, I just wanted to ask if I was clean saving properly, it seems like I should first delete config folder > launch vanilla xcom 2 to get config folder through the 2k launcher > exit and go to AML launcher to play wotc with mods.
Iridar  [author] Aug 18, 2024 @ 10:23pm
As long as you're not using Unrestricted Customization, Clean Soldier Generation should prevent the game from picking anything that isn't vanilla cosmetic body parts for generating random soldier appearance.
Ray Aug 18, 2024 @ 8:42pm
Only worked for me when I started a new game, would love to see a version that would allow modded hairs to go through though. One question, would this mod help at all if say I downloaded a mod that required Steam Workshop::[WOTC] Invisible Body Parts For All (v1.3) mod.
I noticed when I had this mod downloaded + the cosmetic mod that needed it whenever I had a soldier upgrade their armor it would default to giving them invisible limbs or defaulting the soldier to say the halo mod armor's.
Maurice Aug 14, 2024 @ 12:13pm
I dont think it is touching voices at all. Im getting a lot of mod voices. Easy enough to just change them, and some modded voices are fine - like the extra language packs.

Very happy with this regardless though, thanks!
Iridar  [author] Aug 14, 2024 @ 10:12am
I don't recall if I set up this mod to handle voices.
Maurice Aug 14, 2024 @ 8:53am
Grimy's reskinned base armour is one, it works btw. New soldiers generated use his new camo patterns etc.

I am getting modded voices for new recruits though, I assume that's beyond the scope of the mod? No big deal, just a bit weird hearing Garrus in my first mission. He's got calibrations to be doing.
Iridar  [author] Aug 14, 2024 @ 8:10am
Sounds about right, but tbh I'm not familiar with any mods that would do that.
Maurice Aug 14, 2024 @ 7:04am
So a tweaked vanilla armour part is probably using its original vanilla name and will probably be on that inclusion list unless the mod author has done something non-standard or changed it's name.

Is that about right?
Iridar  [author] Aug 14, 2024 @ 7:00am
This mod works by forcing the game to use cosmetic body parts that have their template names included into an inclusion list.
Maurice Aug 14, 2024 @ 6:21am
If you are using a mod that replaces (or modifies, reshades, tweaks colour palette etc) the vanilla armours, does this mod revert those changes?
Iridar  [author] Jul 4, 2024 @ 10:55pm
After.
Kevin from HP Customer Service Jul 4, 2024 @ 2:21pm
Does this prevent your appearance manager from applying a uniform on soldier gen, or does it apply it's uniform AFTER this clean gen take place? :)
TheSuit Feb 1, 2024 @ 10:13am
Oh my god thank you for making this.
I was always annoyed i got some super random soldier with bizzare parts
Slackboy101 Jan 19, 2024 @ 9:06am
Um... I thought you said this DIDN'T work with Unrestricted... because it works fine for me
Iridar  [author] Nov 13, 2023 @ 12:20pm
@italiangamer[Schizophrenic]
You probably have some incompatible mod, like Unrestricted Customization.
italiangamer89[schizoprhenic] Nov 13, 2023 @ 10:47am
hey, it doesnt look like it works for me, am i doing something wrong? all of my soldiers spawn in with moded armor look
Iridar  [author] Aug 4, 2023 @ 8:09am
Unrestricted Customization has its own soldier appearance generator, nothing my mod can do about that. Also, this mod doesn't prevent appearance randomization, it just makes the game use only vanilla body parts, ignoring those from cosmetic mods.

What you can do is get my Appearance Manager mod and set up some uniforms for your soldiers.
CompleteTrash Aug 4, 2023 @ 7:35am
Yeah, but I don't want to disable it because I have a lot of mods that have it as a dependency
Iridar  [author] Aug 3, 2023 @ 7:22pm
@CompleteTrash
Are you also using Unrestricted Customization?
CompleteTrash Aug 3, 2023 @ 2:53pm
So mod seems to be broken as I'm now getting randomized soldiers when using this mod.
Firestorm🗿 May 8, 2023 @ 2:00pm
@AssassinsXCove I think this is a vanilla bug. I had this happen to some dead civvies on a "Destroy the device" mission in a vanilla non wotc run.
MildlyInsaneCajunMan May 1, 2023 @ 10:50am
Never mind. It seems to only do it on some terror missions.
MildlyInsaneCajunMan May 1, 2023 @ 8:32am
I noticed this also makes the civilians in terror missions wear basic Avenger clothing instead of their usual civilian clothing. Is this a bug or something unavoidable?
zin Apr 3, 2023 @ 2:15am
Can’t believe I was ever playing without this mod. No more rookies with Tracer heads, Titanfall armour, and dresses.
Iridar  [author] Jul 24, 2022 @ 2:24pm
Yes
Eclipse Jul 24, 2022 @ 2:22pm
does it exclude modded hairstyles?
manatauro Jun 24, 2022 @ 6:58am
Question. Most soldier customization mods require Unrestricted customization and it's redux. So does this mean this wont work with them?
Dustimus Jun 16, 2022 @ 5:06pm
I somehow never found this mod until now and it's everything I ever wanted
Roughers Apr 24, 2022 @ 12:57pm
@Iridar I see, but thank you for clarifying. And thank you for all the hard work you put into all your mods. I use a bunch of them and couldn't play without them anymore!
Iridar  [author] Apr 24, 2022 @ 11:55am
It's not possible with this version.
Roughers Apr 24, 2022 @ 11:29am
Hey, does anyone know if you can change this mod to only ensure just scientists and engineers are "cleanly generated"?
I have no issues with wonky soldiers, as I can just change them and with a bit of tweaking of the ingame settings I rarely get missing bodyparts.
I sometimes like how a randomly generated soldier looks and just expand on that. But since I cannot change Scientists and Engineers this is something really annoying.
Sharur Jan 28, 2022 @ 8:41pm
For what it's worth, despite having Unrestricted Customization Redux installed, this mod seems to be keeping my Avenger staff from being invisible head bug-eyed monsters, which is the most important thing it can do, as I can change my soldiers but I can't change the generics.
Iridar  [author] Jan 20, 2022 @ 1:43am
@Sharur
In theory it's possible to make any cosmetic body part available to any unit through config. I don't know if there are any mods that already do that, though.
Sharur Jan 20, 2022 @ 1:32am
What would you recommend as an alternative to Unrestricted Customization that would allow this mod to work? The thing I'm probably most interested in is being able to use the hero outfits (especially Reaper) with any class.
Iridar  [author] Jan 7, 2022 @ 12:03pm
@Slade
I'll investigate, thanks.
Slade Jan 7, 2022 @ 11:32am
Just wanted to point out that what TheRyderShotgun mentioned on 2 Feb, 2021 @ 2:59am is still true.

When you upgrade to predator armor the mod stops working . Until this point it works great. All told it's just a minor inconvenience but I just wanted to throw that out there in the event that this is an easy fix. Either way, thank you very much for the mod and I'll keep using it.
Iridar  [author] Jan 2, 2022 @ 12:41pm
@The LDs
Clean Soldier Generation appears to have at least some effect with Unrestricted Customization, but it no longer reliably delivers on the promise of getting rid of the hodge-podge look.

To best of my knowledge using them together does not cause any major issues like crashes.

I've adjusted the description to be less scary.

I have not bothered doing in-depth testing because I no longer use Unrestricted Customization myself and probably never will, so frankly I don't care how compatible they are.
The LDs Jan 2, 2022 @ 8:45am
I have a some what interesting question regarding the unrestricted customisation incompatibility. While I do know the two mods together won't affect characters created in the character pool, I did notice that randoms may still be affected by this mod.

While using this mod with LWOTC it looked like the haven rebels were not getting random mod pieces i.e. no invisible heads. That being said, I stopped using this mod to see if it was causing crashing issues in my campaign. After Turning off this mod, the haven rebels are appearing with lots of crap and clutter on them.

So, since this mod is incompatible with unrestricted customisation, are there any negative affects if used together such as potential crashing? Cause I do mostly want to use this mod to prevent randoms from becoming a mess.

@N O r
Right.
