Dear author, may I ask when the update will be made?
As a starbound player who has subscribed to too many mods, I don't think the crashes caused by updates are too bad compared to mod conflicts. I haven't played starbound for three months now, just waiting for an update and opening a new save

Yes and yes.

I have questions about the mod. Will this mod be deleted once the legacy is available and will the new mod be available on Steam?
TheTwilightDancer May 13 @ 11:42pm
@Oмεяυıп
Nothing you did wrong I assure you. My game decided to soil the bedsheets when I had to do a fresh install of the game and mods to fix another issue. Now a bunch of mods are having errors, from missing item recipes to crashing maps when a modded ore or monster fails to spawn. Fixed a few errors by reinstalling mods, but some couldn't be fixed. Working on transferring bases using WEdit to fresh vanilla maps made without the mods installed, but after I did that, I had to reinstall those mods to lower chances of them crashing from something. Main concern now is if my replacement maps will be affected by this mod spawning demon monsters on them now. Once I remove the legacy mod, which I plan to do when I update, I don't want my new maps to be corrupted due to demon monsters no longer existing. Unless of course oSB can prevent this?
Oмεяυıп  [author] May 13 @ 5:26am
@TheTwilightDancer
Wait, how is this the legacy version having issues spawning demon monsters? Nothing about them has been changed in years?
TheTwilightDancer May 13 @ 2:42am
Sadly this means that any worlds with big builds on them will break. I've had a few issues recently with another mod causing a crash due to failing to spawn a particular monster. Then this mod was causing similar issues spawning demon monsters until I uninstalled and then reinstalled it. No more issues so far, but eventually, I'll have to get rid of the legacy version in order to be able to use the overhauled mod. So I gotta start a month's of work all over to replace my soon to be broken permanently worlds. Anyone who's in a similar situation, back up worlds you wanna keep, and perhaps WEdit might be able to help you copy/paste your bases on a planet that does not have old Angel content in it. World that have that content will be permanently broken.
Pakari May 7 @ 7:45am
@Baitofqualitycooking
Yes, you should. This mod doesn't just add the Angel race, but also villages, random encounters, a teleport location, and a unique mission. All of these will break when the "update" comes, because it's not an update. The entire mod will be remade from scratch and this one will be removed and the new one uploaded instead.
Baitofqualitycooking May 7 @ 7:23am
Should I uninstall this mod so that nothing breaks when the update comes? I don't have any angel race characters made yet but was planning for some.
@Oмεяυıп 45-60 mins ? Lol more like 5-10 mins, everytime im going back to the surface of my planet they spawn. Which is pretty damn annoying.
Oмεяυıп  [author] May 4 @ 7:22pm
@Hikari
Heya. In the overhaul update you'll be able to choose between Angel or Demon. However, the Ruined Angel "race" will be NPC only. Though I have no qualms with someone making a mod to enable them! It's just not something I will do, myself.
Hikari May 4 @ 6:01pm
I would love for Dark angels to be playable is that possible? I mean we play as angels yes? but like adding another race with the angels? like the dark angels?. I would love to play a dark angel or a evil angel? and how about playing as a demon? 3 races? angel, dark angels and demons? then adding new lore into the game? idk just some ideas. thank you for all the hard work you guys do.
Oмεяυıп  [author] May 4 @ 2:40pm
@𝟘𝕌𝕋𝔻𝔸𝕋𝟛𝔻
Unfortunately the Legacy Version will not be updated with a way to counter it, but the overhaul will. However, that being said, even in the Legacy Version they should only show up maybe between... 45-60 minutes?
How do you stop the constant spawn of the dark angels encounters ? They keep appearing in groups near me it's pretty annoying. I got no quest or anything to make them stop spawning.

You have to complete the main story (vanilla), and then the angel near the Ark will have a quest...!

Amazing, its understandable that the Tier 5 would require more time to be added, but Im grateful to know that Tier 5 vanilla equipment will be available to the angels in the future, you are amazing, and hopefully we will see the mix of aegisalt bow and holy bow.
Oмεяυıп  [author] Apr 16 @ 4:13pm
@Akriel
I could add the generic vanilla craftable weapons to the races, yeah. Unfortunately I don't have plans for T5+ weapons to be introduced right away with the initial overhaul update, but they will be re-added with time. Along with other content that will be reintroduced: encounters, lore, etc... All in due time!! :maniac_wanted:
Akriel Apr 16 @ 4:03pm
I could sugest if I may, that you can still be able to craft the violium, ageisalt and feroznium items that other races have access, because for example I do really love the aefisalt bow, and its really sad that I cannot craft it, also I would love to see a holy bow that shoots like the aegisalt too, but with some differences, and of course that the methods to obtained it are harder than the aegisalt bow.
Pakari Apr 11 @ 10:54am
@A-Vladimir That kind of response was completely uncalled for. Quite rude, to be honest.
Complain (verb): To express dissatisfaction or annoyance about something. - Source: Literally googling it.

You told the author not to change the IDs because it would "nuke every planet". That is you openly expressing that you don't like the fact that the IDs will be changed. As such, you were indeed complaining.
A-Vladimir Apr 11 @ 6:13am
@Pakari You might be on some kind of drugs, I wasn't complaining, it was just a suggestion. I already removed this mod from my modpack and nuked the universe untill the updated thing comes out.
Oмεяυıп  [author] Apr 10 @ 4:27pm
I'm extremely grateful for the amount of support and patient fans who are excited for the overhaul. But I never forget nor undermine those who are not happy with my decision - they have a very fair point. However, at the end of the day, it is my decision - and unfortunately I'm not changing it. I've never been happier working on this mod, and I think the future plans will certainly make up for this!

Oмεяυıп  [author] Apr 10 @ 4:27pm
I love this mod - it was my first major race mod and it means a lot to me. But to continue working on it without major stress, it had to be rebuilt. This mod is one of the oldest - around 2018/2019. When I JUST started out with modding. I made a lot of bad decisions that I can undo with the overhaul.

And you know what?
In recent times, before all this, I came to be embarrassed about the current version of this mod. It didn't feel true to my current skill level. But ever since I've been working on the overhaul, it reignited my passion and I'm so excited to continue the future of this mod.
Oмεяυıп  [author] Apr 10 @ 4:26pm
I'm changing lots of IDs, as I said I would be doing. For a total overhaul. People who use the Steam version of the mod (right now) should all get the warning about the change, either via the SAIL message or coming across random notes explaining what's going on.
I even explain further in the mod description above.

This is why the legacy version is available as a pak file so people can safely unsubscribe from the Steam version and not get any future changes. If someday they want to try the overhaul, they'll have to handle it one way or another on their own. Perhaps they can test it on Starbound Unstable? Or maybe by then they'll be willing to reset? Who knows.

All I know is that telling me over and over again that things will break is... pointless. I realize that. I'm not over here celebrating. It was a very hard decision.
Pakari Apr 10 @ 11:47am
@A-Vladimir Exactly. So things will be nuked either way. Complaining won't change that. Sometimes, things happen that we don't like and we can't change that. All we can do is accept it and move on.
A-Vladimir Apr 10 @ 9:26am
When you remove the old version you will also nuke all planets that you have generated
Pakari Apr 10 @ 8:18am
@A-Vladimir They literally warned us that the new version will ruin the old version in general. We were told to uninstall the old version to avoid nuking the whole thing.
You're complaining about something we've been warned of. The IDs are gonna change, the two versions will not be compatible. That's how things are, and we'll just have to live with it.
A-Vladimir Apr 10 @ 7:38am
@Oмεяυıп Avoid changing the ids of monsters or you will nuke every planet for everyone.
_-Echo-117-_ Apr 9 @ 4:36pm
ooh okay, thank u for answering,take ur time and wish u the best!
Oмεяυıп  [author] Apr 9 @ 3:35pm
@_-Echo-117-_
Well, I've been working on it for a bit, but it isn't a huge amount of progress. I'm 18% done right now, and that's just a bunch of small easy tasks...

When I first started, a script I made predicted at least A YEAR.
So, based on the amount of progress I make each week... That still seems to be true...?
_-Echo-117-_ Apr 9 @ 1:52pm
i know u have been asked this like 100000 times but i would like to know if we are VERY away from the overhaul? like, can i have a 1-2months play through safely?, hope this doesnt bother u to answer
A-Vladimir Mar 29 @ 8:52am
If they change the id of monsters it will brake all worlds
Regret-V Mar 29 @ 12:42am
If I want to play the overhauled version in the future, is my old saves with the legacy version is deemed to break, even if I have the legacy version as a local mod?
maryevangelinemartins Mar 15 @ 4:37pm
thanks!
Oмεяυıп  [author] Mar 15 @ 4:37pm
@maryevangelinemartins
Angel characters, absolutely. Planets? If they have Angel encounters/dungeons, most likely. And since it adds custom monsters... that are added to planet spawn pools... Yeah. That too.
maryevangelinemartins Mar 15 @ 4:31pm
what do you mean by " more " when you say its gonna break characters and more
Oмεяυıп  [author] Mar 11 @ 4:31am
@A-Vladimir
I have a section for that in the description, lol.
A-Vladimir Mar 11 @ 2:42am
Any idea on when we can expect the overhaul?
Oмεяυıп  [author] Mar 11 @ 2:14am
@TITAN
It exists so that people can still enjoy the mod before/after the update and such. If I do that, it completely takes most of the mod away.

You cannot transition from legacy to overhaul by just removing encounters. Very important IDs will change - it's pretty much a guaranteed reset unless you know what you're doing to preserve characters during the switch.

If you're asking to have Legacy content in the overhaul to prevent crashing, that goes against the whole point of the overhaul: no remnants of old organization/the former mod left.

Thank you for the suggestion, though.
TITAN Mar 11 @ 12:29am
Hey, I'd like to ask this about the legacy patch; perhaps making it so legacy content can't generate on new planets, and is otherwise inaccessible, but still exists in the files to prevent crashing.
Oмεяυıп  [author] Mar 1 @ 10:50am
@Leonard
That's actually also what I prefer for everyone else to do as well, lol.
My older mods are pretty bad in their current state anyways...
Leonard Mar 1 @ 10:34am
Thanks for your response! I guess I want to pass on your older mods for now. I don't mind waiting a few years to avoid potential issues haha. Good luck nonetheless!
Oмεяυıп  [author] Mar 1 @ 10:06am
@Leonard
That's a fair way to look at it, yeah.
Hallowed is right up there with the Angels, because it was my first ever planet mod.

So, thankfully, this does mean there's a chance not every single old mod of mine will cause severe character/universe issues with their eventual overhaul update. But, I'll have to update the users of whichever mod I'm working on if it's really fine or not. I'll get there when I get there!
Leonard Mar 1 @ 10:03am
So, would it be safe to say that your mods released in 2020 or later are unlikely to break our universe with future updates? I'm worried about your Hellish and Hallowed planet mods lol.
Oмεяυıп  [author] Mar 1 @ 9:50am
@Leonard
Hello!
Cosmic Husbandry just needs sprite changes, some minor design/mod direction changes, and other tiny things; extremely small stuff. That mod will be fine!

The Nebulac Race is questionable, but I may be able to rebuild them without breaking any saves. At most, some items may be removed, and some object IDs changed, but that just causes the game to crash once to turn items into PGIs. After that, it's fine. I'll let the users of that mod know eventually.

Starry Planets mostly needs sprite updates, actually! It's newer, so the file organization and prefixes are good, it's just outdated in terms of looks.

The Angels of Starbound is the most egregious because of its age. Like I've said before, this was created in 2018/2019!
Leonard Mar 1 @ 8:51am
Saw your SAIL message in my log. I wonder if other mods like Comsic Husbandry, Nebulac Race, Starry Planets, etc will also end up bricking the universe, or if you'll just update them like the Nomadic without issues.. Do you mind sharing some of your future plans? ^^
Oмεяυıп  [author] Feb 28 @ 5:36pm
@Atrius
That's great!
Going through the ol' files, it seems they are only available via finding them in encounters?
You could always just spawn them, though!

Atrius Feb 27 @ 12:43pm
Hey! No jumpy demon encounters since I sent that message last. So I think it did get fixed! One more question though- how do you get those pretty potted trees in preview image 18? No idea how, I haven't seen them and they aren't craftable. Thanks!
