From my experience, a good counter to these guys is Iridar's Stormrider class:

At captain rank, Stormriders can unlock the Riposte ability which allows them to nullify and counterattack any adjacent enemy which made a missing or grazing attacktargeted at them.
By buffing your stormrider with as much dodge as possible (Serpent/Wraith suit, Agility PCS...) they will be able to dodge nearly every attack including the Custodian's pilebunker and riposte with a melee attack if they're next to them, let them tank the Custodian Trio while the rest of the squad does the objective or surrounds the custodians and wittles them down.

They are relatively easy if you have space to keep them at long range and a lot of shredding. But I agree. Once they appeared during the avenger assault, it was the toughest mission I had in 1000 hours of XCOM 2. Gave them few more chances, but decided to uninstall it. Most Claus mods are pretty good, Pathfinders for example are great, but this one is a bit much.

This is unplayable. Whenever these 3 show up the mission is over.
I only got to win ONCE in my hours of XCOM 2, and it was because I had a TEN-SOLDIER SQUAD full of SPARTANS (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1801311443) at MAX rank.
And still it was out of sheer luck, and two of my Spartans died.

These are OP even amongst the most overpowered soldier mods, and I wish I never installed it in the first place.

when these start spawning in 2-3 pods of 4...game over...resistance is futile. way OP to ridiculous, even with modded high ranking squad...it's pointless to continue, unsubscribe or die.

Skullmining one for an instakill was the only thing that allowed me to take them on. The Grandmaster + two Exalteds is a combo way too strong on any mission that requires timing.

They are managable...granted you aren't pressed by something else that prevents you from properly kiting them. I had 2 pods of them spawn during a chosen assault mission and due to the cannon i had to send some of my best soldiers to the meatgrinder to destroy the gun before i could really think about dealing with them

Mobility is the key to beating them. I played them on Legendary and they are tough, but slow. The real damage done is when they are next to you, then you can kiss your soldier bye bye. Stay out of range and wear them down.
Or head to the config folder and nerf them :p

This mod is meant to be used against some of the mods that make Xcom overpowered because that's what this mod is not for vanilla styled campaigns.

Not suggestable to most people playing this, be it only for the ridiclously mary-sue-level difficulty of those guys. Instant buff up to 4 attacks in a single round with minimum of 11 damage and a ridiclouse level of mobility and i think they only ever miss with untouchable... My favorite was when they triggered Overwatch on every move in one round even on large distances, then attacked two times for 11 damage followed by a melee hit for 24 ....This mod is jerking off to itself.

Too overpowered to be usable. On Commander, even with endgame units and modded squad sizes these guys will absolutely stomp you. The regular Custodians are fine, these can't be fought.

@Nitzer - They have higher stats on higher difficulties, I know as play against them at legendary - ouch :)
Of course you can change the stats in the config folder.
...steamapps\workshop\content\268500\1676001331\Config\XcomGameData_CharacterStats
Just remember to change the setting for the each of the difficulty levels you play. Claus graciously made it possible to alter the units at each difficulty setting. Enjoy

My entire squad just got wiped - these things all had 60 HP, what are you supposed to do against that? How can I lower the HP these guys have in settings?

That powerful armor is definitely deserved. I just faced them and my squad was well equipped but they still managed to shoot my specialist. Good fight though. I cant build the armor yet but I will.
Great mod. Tough enemies. They have a nasty punch. Bring somebody with a ton of health and amor as a tank but even they wont last long when theyre hit by those exalted custodians. Better kill them quickly.

Ah I guess you looked at the cosmetic version of that mod, there's 2 of them one which adds only the cosmetics the other which adds the battlesuit itself. And if you are using the Unrestriced Customization mod then you can use other cosmetics while wearing this battlesuit, although most abilities won't have the proper effects (heavy weapons will be fired from the wrist, no jetpacks or shield)

i thought that was a cosmetic only, but damn.
not sure i like the bulky armor tho, (cosmeticly speaking) adding the "abilities" with their "textures" to other heavy armors would be great, shouldder heavy wep to exo for example.
but anyways my bad.

It's not just dumb armour. I has a jetpack, a wrist mounted minigun, a rocket knee, a super punch that deals 20 damage, a retractable shield and shoulder mounted heavy weapons. You should look at that other mod before just rejecting it. And also, we don't know what extra items he might add to the final mod

i was hoping on the gun, or the shield, or somehow using that awesome AOE lightning ability. something more exiting then dumb armor.

For now you don't get any rewards. In the future once he has completed the full mod the autopsy reward will be the Metion Battle Suit, one of Claus' other mods.

They are meant to be the elite version of the regular custodians and will appear after them (once you reach force level 20) They're strong enough that a single pod of them can kill the archon king.

Uhm any advice on how to fight these lads ? I've seen what they can do and I need to assault a MOCX HQ, but the shadow chamber says there's a pod of them along with possibly 2 or 3 squads of MOCX and a gatekeeper and I'm quite scared.

Would it be possible to add in a GameCore.INI file so we can alter the loot you get off these guys? I'd like to make some personal changes so they give stuff from Grimy's Loot Mod.

This is an Exalted unit, it's meant to be tougher.

It is your own fault for using what's meant to go against super OP soldiers like Mec Troopers.

This is literally a mod only meant for extreme challenge.

The regular Custodian mod exists for a reason.

Too fat. I mean, really. More hp values then a Sectopod plus high dmg and HP buff across the map. Stupid.
Either make them weaker/remove that stupid buff (game is not balanced for such amount), or don't allow them to appear on avenger assault/make them to count as 2 pods, instead of one.
it's not difficult. It's just like give them 1 million hp and throw into combat...

these custodians are as hard as nails. they even rival em chosens and alien rulers. heck i can finish a flawless mission with chosen but not these rock hard custodians... good challenge though.
@zypher, yes they have weakness, use the ripjack and let your squad pull em like rag dolls. the ripjack (of the skirmishers) for me have a "stun" effec upgrade so they are "asleep" while i shoot them like forever before they die. how about the serpent suit? unfortunately the serpent suit's "freeze" free action wont freeze them, it only pulls the custodians near your soldier making the freeze ability useless.

do they have any weakness? i mean, suffering is fun, okay and all but 65 hp on commander, 6 armor, defense like gods so not even a sniper with 120 aim or more can hit them properly...i encountered now a pod of 4 of them, im not even having beam weapons on everyone but they are really excessive. They must have a weakness right?

Well, this doesn't get the increased pod numbers from A Better Campaign, but one can easily work around that by tweaking this mod's XCOMEncounterLists.INI file.

@James Stone: That is the ultimate plan, right now there is a pathfinder pack, and there will be a Custodian pack in the future, and in 10 thousand years if we all make it that far, i'll blend it all together in on big enemy mod

@SHINOBAE: Probably not, i still need to make something for you to get out of killing these guys, which is the next mod i'll be working on, but it probably will take a while, best case scenario is a couple of weeks
