Seven football fields in two seconds. That’s how much distance a rocket-powered sled covered in March 2016 in a test run that broke the world record for speed on a magnetically levitated track. The 2,100-foot-long track is at Holloman Air Force base in New Mexico, home to the 846th Test Squadron. The team behind the magnetic levitation system was able to push their sled to reach a top speed of 633 miles per hour, besting their previous world record of 513 mph set two days earlier.

The CRH380A test was held on the Shanghai–Hangzhou Passenger Railway The trainset with series number CRH380A-6001 reached the maximum speed of 416.6 km/h (258.9 mph). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China_Railways_CRH380A

The TGV (Train à Grande Vitesse, French for "High-Speed Train") holds a series of land speed records for rail vehicles achieved by SNCF, the French national railway, and its industrial partners. The high-speed trials are intended to expand the limits of high-speed rail technology, increasing speed and comfort without compromising safety.

The current world speed record for a commercial train on steel wheels is held by the French TGV at 574.8 km/h (357.2 mph), achieved on 3 April 2007 on the new LGV Est.

Havan_IronOak True, sometimes these things move too fast lol, and the authenticity of any claims are difficult to believe with China imho. :)

Thinskin45 You might be right. These things constantly change. The CRH380A is designed to operate at a cruise speed of 350 km/h (217 mph) and a maximum of 380 km/h (236 mph) in commercial service. The trains have had their operating speed reduced to 300 km/h (186 mph) after the Wenzhou train collision, in 2011.

I thought the Chinese CRH 380A Harmony holds the current speed record for conventional trains?

Nice idea, but the TGV speed record is 574.8 km/h. 584 is for maglev i think.

Good idea. It does get old seeing the same game hints in the loading screens.
