The jump is lined up to tight..if not impossible. I can jump quite well...you lined up a eye of the needle jump :(

Final review: I finished chamber 1, and got stuck at chamber 2. The cube tipping was a tad frustrating, but not that big of a deal. However, the next part of the puzzle was simply infuriating, not because I didn't know how to solve it, but because after trying to position the portals right time after time and runing into everything from lasers to the tractor beam to the bottom of the angled panel, I simply didn't care anymore.

I don't propose to be an expert in chamber building(with my grand total of 1 published chamber) but it did seem to me like you had a lot of good concepts. It might have just been that you tried a little to hard to make it challenging. For example, the first room only had one puzzle, but the second room had at least 3 at my count. I got a bit confused as to which to do next. Fortunately, you have them marked with antlines and signs. Next time, you might try to proportion out your puzzles a little more.
Overall, a good effort with challenging puzzle concepts if a bit rough around the edges. I'll probably be back for your follow up chamber, though, so keep building!

Disclaimer: I haven't finished the map yet. But I do have a couple things for feedback.
The first is that your introductory chamber is a bit disorienting. Because the player is at ground floor level it's hard to tell where to position the portal. So putting in some markers on the floor below the fizzler or simply raising up the portion the player has to walk on would be appreciated.
Also, running from one button to the other button can be a bit frustrating. I thought I was missing something the first time I played. The other elements of your puzzle are challenging enough that the "puzzle" of running isn't necessary(as evidenced by my yet-to-complete-it status.)
I'll give you some more feedback after some more testing.

Good map. A few pointers though, if I may. Once the player has deduced the solution, it shouldn't be a guessing game to accomplish it. Case in point: room 2 on the left. It's easy to see the secret but there is no point of reference for aiming portals at that depth. All that would be needed is different colors of floor there or light strips.
A bit of trial and error on the flinging in the next room but I'm pretty good with that. I don't really mind the inverting of the reflection cube. I've seen it enough times now that it is a viable puzzle element to me.
All in all, good work!

Hi. You asked for evaluation in a thread so I had a look at your map, cause I was bored ;)

*SPOILERS*

The map overall is pretty cool, well made. Now I just have some problems with it:

- I do not like when lenses have to be put upwards or downwards or such. But I see the point, how would you bring in new puzzle elements if you don't go across the border of "normal stuff". I guess it's also a matter of taste - I also don't like when you have to walk on grids or such, just cause it feels not portal-like. It's not something that you could have possibly seen in an official map. So, it's ok, and right now I just read in the comment section that there is a way with portals. Anyway I did it with a rotated cube, which was not fitting my taste.
- The fling to the button... I seriously hate stuff like that. I read here that it works when doing only one fall off the roof, which I may not have tried in the video. And maybe I called it buggy in the end.
[Tom K] Aug 15, 2013 @ 8:52am
The point is: You need 10 seconds to see that a fling is needed, and another 20 minutes trial and error until you get the right speed. This is just my personal taste and my personal feel, but when I see "this is solved by flinging" I want it to work it by flinging. And flinging is for me gain speed, then fling out, then land at the spot. Not "oh I hit the roof", "oh I hit the beam", " oh too fast too slow whatever".
Course it's my stupidity. It's either 1 fall off the roof, or 2, or max speed, whereas two could already be maxspeed. But it just happened that I thought twoards another direction, which was like that I have to fling myself not out of the angled panel, but out of the wall, above the observation room, which is supercrazy to hit the portal there.
I hate flinging anyway in general. And after I raged about it and simply noclipped up, my rage grew even more by finding the speed for the ball.
I wanna solve puzzles not try and error.

Therefore, I disliked the map. Can be that on another day I would have tried it straight away to only fall once, then I'd had given it a like. I recommend simply to allow various speeds with that jump.

With that jump working, I'd rate it like that:
Difficulty: 5/10
Time: 10min
Rating: 7/10

I can't do it. That laser bit is IMPOSSIBLE.

thumbs up !
warmCabin Aug 1, 2013 @ 10:18pm
That's what ended up working for me too, I just always sort of assume I have to fall through the loopwhatever a couple of times :|
Steve Balls Jul 30, 2013 @ 11:28am
Very well made. Keep up the good work!

There is an easier way to do it, which I dont want to divulge here as it'll be pretty providing a solution to the chamber!
Plinko Jul 28, 2013 @ 2:21pm
@Samas You can jump on the cube's edge to turn it upright, though I agree that it is a little difficult since it's hard to flip reflection cubes.
♜ SAmAS ♜ Jul 28, 2013 @ 9:18am
Well, then, is there an easier way of turning the laser cube face up? cause i was ramming the cube agains one of the pins so the face would go up =|
th3gargoyl3  [author] Jul 28, 2013 @ 9:08am
hi Samas. yes, the laser puzzle is meant to be done without portals - you need them to get up to the pedestal!
♜ SAmAS ♜ Jul 28, 2013 @ 8:52am
Hey there, i just played through your map, I have a question about it.
The laser part, it is supposed to do without portals right? I'm talking only about getting the laser throught the 2 pins and to the receptor. I did it without portals but had to manually ( x] ) turn the cube up, which is kind of weird, is that the right solution or is there another one?

Was a very clever map, definitely harder than my map ;)

I had fun, good work c:

Nice chamber! Very clever. The ceiling wasn't an issue for me; I just held W to make sure I landed where the pedestal button was. I enjoyed it!
th3gargoyl3  [author] Jul 26, 2013 @ 5:27am
Thank you all for your feedback. Appreciate it. Glad some of you like it.

Didnt realise the ceiling was a problem for people. My intended solution was to only drop from the ceiling once before flinging up through the angled panel . Will bear that in mind for future chambers. Thanks.
BUG Jul 25, 2013 @ 4:50pm
32 minuntes I must be ( 2 x genius ) Thanks for a nice puzzle.
exitcode1 Jul 23, 2013 @ 10:29am
Yeah, the ceiling was annoying for the momentum part. Found this was reliable: without jumping in, put an entrance portal on the floor right in front of the angled panel, put an exit right above it, look in and see the angled panel in the room below, jump in and immediately move the exit portal to the panel. As you fly toward the pedistal button, push toward it to make sure you get into the pocket. I didn't use the angled panel at all for getting the edgeless cube to the tractor beam.
warmCabin Jul 22, 2013 @ 8:04pm
A nice small, concise map. Good job!
Although the momentum puzzle was odd... if I fell through the falling loop whatever you call it more than once, I would smack into the cieling and fail to reach the landing spot! If the cieling was one block higher it wouldn't have been a problem...but maybe this was on purpose, I dunno.
