By indicating that this is the original mode, it is permitted for someone to continue this mode. However, since I am managing the Biotech version, it is only possible to continue with the HAR version.

if you are no longer going to be updating these race mods, are you ok with someone else taking over? i need to know for sure if you have abandoned the HAR version of the race mods

@apologistfluffsune Of course the staunch defender of Lost Forest bricking peoples saves would chime in telling people to conform... If anything HAR is needed more BECAUSE of Biotech. Custom race genes don't play well with non-vanilla bodies and vice versa, meaning if you're using biotech you HAVE to have races with shared body types. I respect the authors wishes to not continue with HAR and this mod, but you're just flat out wrong. Again.

Because HAR has become somewhat un-needed with Biotech. The author literally just told you they no longer use HAR. Get with the program and use Biotech.

honestly, I don't understand why you stopped updating this mod simply because of the ghoul graphics. Chances are that there's still alot of people who don't own either Anomaly, and it hurts even more for people who don't have Biotech to play the biotech versions.

Unless you're trying to make ferians stay as ferians when changing into ghouls (which I guess changes species and textures while keeping race/genes), then I guess I understand. But can you at least consider for people who do NOT use or have biotech? I still (false) hope this and the Lapelli mod would get updated, but I don't expect anything at this point

I really hope it gets updated, he Ferian colonists are invisible so I can't have them D:
I don't have biotech so I don't think I can use that version.

This mod hasn't been updated in a year. It probably needs to be necrod if the mod author hasn't already stated they are going to update it.

i also forgot to mention that not everyone has access to biotech so not everyone can use the updated biotech version

I agree with the BaconGeneral and Mismagius. I've been waiting to start a 1.5 colony until a few cool races like this one are hopefully updated. I look forward to Ferian's in the future if you get around to working on this!

hey, I've been having a problem where ferians don't have heads? I can grab a log on friday if needed, but it states that it failed to load the head textures for some reason. I checked and the head texture files are intact?

I may just need to reinstall the mod, as this is a problem unique to my steamdeck. I don't have internet until Friday either, so if that is the case I will update this on that day. just posting this as it's a bit of a silly and mildly annoying issue.

I really like the Ferians however with Biotech they seem to have no Genes other then Hair. And that Hair is on top of the Model?

well i did say they were newly created Ferian and they still had the skin color genes. that or the mod didn't properly update. but at the same time when i added that line of code to prevent the skin color genes on the new Ferian pawns, that line of code got deleted when you updated this mod.

Data of existing pawns cannot be modified. And by disabling melanin, Ferians with strange skin colors are no longer created.

umm...they still appear with skin colors that overlaps with colors of this race mod. you have to put the <li MayRequire="Ludeon.RimWorld.Biotech">SkinColor</li> in the blackgenetags. and yes it was a newly spawned one

can you by any chance restrict color genes from showing up on this race? i keep seeing this race with color genes that causes the color to overlap with the colors of this race. the same thing also happens on the dragon race of yours

Might be. Its something I will have to look into. I also tried tweaking the load order a little because PUAH loads long before Ferian Race does, and both of them fiddle with Verse.PatchOperationAdd. This made me think there was a conflict via load order, but moving PUAH after Ferian Race didn't resolve it.

I'll have to dig in deeper to figure out if there is indeed a conflict and where it is.

The log I linked is timestamped up to two weeks prior to that HAR update. That might not rule HAR out of the equation though?

Mark, your post asking about an update on Feb 2nd matches the time HAR pushed an update which has caused issues with a number of mods. Try asking them.

Odd. Because there aren't any local mods currently, just workshop ones. I used to run some local mods from a site-that-shalt-not-be-named, but I deleted them months ago when Biotech was released. Now my game only runs workshop mods.

If it thinks there is a local mod trying to do the same things, I'll have a task on my hands trying to figure out why and what mod is trying to register the load list a second time. And why it keeps referencing one or more Ferian pawns and PUAH when it does.

Unless... Its a conflict between RimPy and Fluffy's Mod Manager? I'll go disable that one and check again.

Also, I don't use both Ferians. I went with the normal/standard Ferians (this one) for my active mods list as you admitted not being too knowledgeable about what the Biotech DLC changes and I felt the Biotech version of Ferians needed some more time to mature.

Huh... I guess I have to try to figure out which mod is doing that. The log doesn't tell me a whole lot except that it has to do with hauling to inventory, which I thought had to do with PUAH on some level and it always involved a Ferian pawn.

Could it be because I'm subbed to both this and the biotech version of Ferians, even though *only* this version is active in my load order?

Also, that workshop mode and desktop mode... I'm a little confused. Do you mean it thinks there is a local mod of the same name or something? Or do you mean something else?

"tried to register the same list of load IDs twice" This error occurs when the same mod is loaded repeatedly. It is also an error that occurs when the workshop mode overlaps with the desktop mode.

If I may ask, what was changed in the update earlier today (Feb 2nd, 2023)? I'm interested to know.

Also, I've been seeing an error with PUAH (Pick up And Haul) every time a Ferian joins my colony (either temporarily or permanently). I'm just not sure if its this mod or PUAH that's responsible.

The short trace claims the game "tried to register the same list of load IDs twice" with "pathRelToParent=/ThingsHauledToInventory" then following that up with failing to load an ID list because its asking for something that was never added during LoadingVars (once again stating the same pathRelToParent stuff earlier in this paragraph).

Had a Ferian join my colony that was just a head with no body. Tried to use character editor to see if I could fix that with a different body type. Game froze up as soon as I hit the option to edit body type. So the choices were disembodied fox head and don't touch character editor, or crash the game. I went with C: remove the mod and load a save from before he joined.

for whatever reason, this mod with any mod that lets you customize stats of a character tends to break the Ui, and crash the game. you have a 50/50 chance to crash when editing anything...

Until the bug in Humanoid Alien Races is fixed, no biotech related genes will be added to this mod.
If update biotech now, it will probably cause a bug with a 100% chance.

Ferian Mod works well with Xeva Faction mod! Thank you, amazing creator!

(For the fans of this mod, you should try to learn RimPy, it is extremely good for sorting your mods and keeping them updated. They are working very well on 1.4 on my playthrough, I have all the DLC.)
