I'm not sure I would have to investigate the tables and options regarding hero levels.
I fear that there is no global modifier like for units, which is needed to do it AND keep
it highly compatible. Otherwise it would be a lot of work and would break with every change / overhaul....

Hypothetically, if someone who speaks 'the computer' just about good enough to distinguish the front and back end would want to alter the xp values from this mod, how would this person be advised to get enuff savage smarts to understand the raw binary bonanza, AKA which tables to edit and what to edit them with?

Feel free to do so. I would like to find the golden middle for those who can't / don't know how to make those changes themself. I can always have my own settings.
The right amount is also very much dependent on the playstyle and other mods used along with this.
I use the "Blood for The Blood God" Mod. This mod makes every unit fight to the last man. Even skaven slaves. That mean that every unit has to be wiped out completely and gives much more XP since XP is gained only for slayed entities in a unit.
Means if a 100 men unit is wiped out it give more XP than a 100 men unit which routed with 30 survivors.
Probably why 5k XP doesn't feel much for me ;). I achieve that after 2-3 fights with the more elite units.

I really like the idea you are pursuing with this mod. I did however mod the values a bit myself and am going to try them out and see if i like it. 5000 base cost is a bit too much imo. I feel my warriors should gain some level of "experience" after a few battles. Only gaining one chevron if that after the conquest or ransacking of an entire factions seems a bit unrealistic to me. Going to start at 3000 for first three then 3500 for last 6 and see if I like that. Thanks for publishing

Ahh, fair game fair game. It does feel like 1.5k is too low of a first threshhold, but also like 5k is on the steep side of things. Did a bretonnia playthrough and after uniting all of the French people, a starter Knights of the Realm unit had like 4 chevrons (so 1 white one) which felt a little underwhelming with the stats gained per chevron.
Reckon I'd either lower it a tad (say 3k or so) or up the stat gains per chevron. Reckon both are kind of like a slippery slope though.
But more importantly; it's your mod. So IMHO it should be tuned towards what you prefer to use. One way or another, I prefer the 5k/chevron over the elite-out-of-recruitment playstyle, so I'm gonna stick with whatever turns out to be your preference in the end.

Hi. Sorry I was eperimenting with the XP needs, since it felt too easy to me. I possibly changed it to 5k per level and updated the mod whit this settings without mentioning it. I will revert the settings soon... or... didn't it feels too easy to you too? ;)

Good day mr. Modmaker. I recently ran into a bug where all of the units require 5k experience for each level up when i activate this mod. I can reliably recreate this scenario with just this mod enabled, even after clean re-installation. The experience requirement reverts back to vanilla when I disable the mod.
In your description you mentioned the mod being highly compatible as well as 1500xp being required to reach the first chevron, and I was wondering if I fucked up a setting somewhere sometime.
Also, if you don't have time to look into the issue, could you point me in the right direction as to how I can fix it myself (preferably with video tutorial as I'm retarded with computers).

Yes I know, but if I'm not wrong it's done unit by unit. There is no global setting which makes it heavy on maintenance and often no support for custom ROR units from other mods...

Some mods can allow RoR to gain xp but with the SFO mod it makes them way overpowered, i'll still check this mod out though.

Yep, very sure, and I'm not talking about lord or hero skills that give bonus xp per turn. I'm currently playing a campaign on vh/vh and it's very noticeable. AI garrisoned armies that don't see any battle just level up in chevrons every couple of turns.

It seems to be a change introduced a couple of patches ago, I took a break from WH2 and only noticed it now.

Still, I'm conflicted about removing it. On the one hand, it cheapens the leveling system, on the other it helps the AI stay competitive.

Didn't knew about a genral XP bonus each turn. Are you sure about this bonus? What I didn't remove are the bonuses you can get by Lord Skills, Some edicts( I think Lizardmen have them) and similar each turn. That would make this mod highly icompatible with overhauls and if supported would make it intensive to maintain.

Coming back to this, I think there's one thing you forgot to remove, or maybe it's intentional: the xp gain per turn that AI gets on higher difficulties.
When they get 0.5-1 rank/turn, there's not much point to remove recruitment bonuses, it only ends up as a nerf for the player.

I'm sorry but you have to test it. It's described to be a script-based-mod. Mine is a table-based-mod. Becaus of that I think the chaos mod will work.

Found this mode because was tired of "recruit 9 rank units". And if I disable recruite ranks, I want battle rank give more bonuses. So happy to find this mode

What do you mean with "xp by turn" related to difficulty?
As far as I know there is only a difficulty related rank-bonus for AI which I removed.

The XP generated trough buildings and heroes and skills each turn can't be removed without altering the heroes, buildings and skills.... I didn't removed them if it's what you mean

After playing this thoroughly I just want to say thank you. No more replacing my veterans for higher ranked new recruits, because the enemy is recruiting at rank 9. Earning your stripes gives me an xcom level of attachment to my war band. How did I play without this mod? Thank you so very much.

It is compatible and should still work. I was also using SFO when i made this. I'm sorry not having time to look at it at the moment but the game isn't installed on my actual pc. It's often only a version warning but still works as intended. I will update asap

This is exactly what I was looking for. Much obliged to you. I have no loyalty to my armies or units. I recruit ranked units and start replacing older units ASAP because the AI (barrow legion) also abuse it and you are quickly outmatched. I like to rename or title a worthy unit. I hope this is compatible with SFO. I will try it out.
