@S14787 I'm afraid that Adobe Photoshop is the only tool that can handle tif files correctly. I tried with other image editing tools, but only PS works with the game.

I suggest asking for help at the official discord server. I learned a lot from there.

Hello! I was just wondering how you managed to work with the .Tiff files in this game , I wanted to work on a mod and I cant seem to get to the bottom of it , could you point me to a resource where I could Learn or what tools you used to do this, it is really impressive!

This character is really interesting and fun to play, but its model/sprite needs a bit of an update. The proportions make him look really awkward. The other modded characters at least LOOK like they could be characters in the game. The barbarian is so short and stout compared to the others--yet at the same time has these gangly arms and tiny little legs. I think he should be more well-proportioned, closer to the paladin. Playing him kind of takes you out of the game/world because his appearance is just so different from any other model/sprite in the game.

Class titles does not work. and it causes UI disappear on multiplayer.

Just found it out. You have to go to profiles and then activate the modding option there, then select the mods you want to be activated.

The Banner's AOE destroys enemy's projectiles.
Allies too.(Including own Throwing Axe.)

That's weird. I tested Barbarian on multiplayer and the only issue I found is that joined players are invisible in Town, but you can fix this just entering Mines. No problems on the UI so far.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think this is causing the UI to disappear when you play online with others. As soon as any Barbarian joins the game it's gone. Good stuff otherwise!

Well, after more testing we found the issue with Rage. It will be fixed for the next update. I hope it will take only a few days, the upcoming patch for HoH broke some mods (we tested the public beta) and we are waiting for it before releasing an update.

I would definitely agree with the 'enough health' part, had roughly 900 HP just now clearing NG without Crown of Kings. I could get/upload screenshots for the Rage numbers if you'd like, but it's probably easier for you to make a level 1 barb and train the skill to test different ranks with your own contained variables and whatnot.
Overall it does feel slightly overtuned. I know the survivability will get knocked down going into NG+ due to armor/resist penalties so he's definitely killable there. As far as damage I think war banner does a little too much for 1 button press, maybe remove the +damage component (it adds base damage, so +15 makes your primary go from 31>46 base, plus attack power) or adjust the crit down a tad since Rank3 has 20% + blacksmith upgrades puts you at ~30% base crit.

There are some other balancing ideas I have but I don't want to impose myself on your development, it's been pretty great so far so i'll leave you both to it :)

As Barbarian is a melee based class who can't block or destroy projectiles like paladin or thief, his only protection against arrows or fireballs was... Well, many health points and regen. After some testing we also found he already has enough health so we will scrap out Toughness and change it for something else.

I inspected about Rage buff values and everything looks fine, I will test it more later.

I figured out why the rage regen feels weak, I'm nearly 100% that this is the issue; I think the actual buff you gain from rank 3 (30% damage increase +6hp/s) is the same as the rank 1 buff (10% and +2 hp/s).
With 50 attack power, +1phys and +1 magic to primary I am hitting skele archers for exactly 100, while with the rage buff I am only hitting for 108, much lower than the expected ~130 (or even ~115 if it's a multiplier that stacks with attack power). As far as the health regen goes just activate the buff and check your character sheet, I go from 4.57/sec to 6.57/sec with R3 Rage. Also worth noting is the duration is 5 seconds instead of the listed 7.
Since I maxed Bard and stuffed the rest into Barbarian I don't have the money right now to mess around with re-training and testing it on dummies in town, but it's something you should look into since other ranks are probably affected in the same way.

I'm going to give this character a run later today, so it's good to see it being really enjoyable.
I wonder if new characters like this can add bonuses for beating the boss? I don't know if that's possible to do in the game, or not.

Honestly toughness is the only skill I'm concerned about, as a % increase to base health is based on your level only, and while it's a sizable boost it's definitely hard to compare to the priests +200% health gain passive for example (healing, consumables, life steal, regen). I already feel massive with +30% dodge and AoE stun procs all the time, so I could take it or leave it as is honestly because it's still worth the skill points over attunements.

Again, well done boys, you have pretty much single-handedly brought me back into this game after a long hiatus. Looking forward to a 3rd class as well! :steamhappy:

Finally got around to a run, and boy do I love this class already. Pally never hit me in the right spot, I've always wanted a real face-tanking hero with the skills to compliment that style.

Axe is great, the movespeed is countered by the 25% you gain while in combo as well as many other speed boost items, however I feel like this perfectly balances the skill out as a whole and still significantly slows you down while swinging. Throwing axe is a perfect secondary as it lets you pick off banners and other annoyances from afar without ruining your positioning.
Rage and War Banner are both MASSIVE damage boosts; rage for when you need to be more mobile and banner for when you have to stay your ground. The health regen on rage seems a little underwhelming due to your health pool being over 400 before you even finish NG, but the skill is still great overall and I feel like any changes might make him actually unkillable. The AoE stun and stacking dodge are both amazing, enough said.

Colors are determined by alpha channel in Photoshop. It's seems difficult do explain here, buf if you open the barbarian.tif file you will understand it easily. Don't worry if you don't have PS, just create a spritesheet and I will take care of the rest.

question before i star working on the sprites. how is the color selector work exactly. what determines what pixels will be changed. is it color related or is there a code that handles it. secondarily if i change the proportions of the sprite would you have to reassign said code if it exists. and would you be willing to do that or not.

I'm not an expert, but I do know for a fact that the Barbarian in Neverwinter Nights gets access to Uncanny Dodge.
And they would have taken that right from Dungeons and Dragons.
Just because it's a Rogue Skill doesn't mean Barbarians shouldn't be able to use it. They're not smart, but they most certainly are agile. :)
Depending on what race they are, anyhow. Minotaur Barbarians are totally not agile.

Sure, original sprites would be a great idea (we're not artists, so we have to pick assets from other games and modify them to our needs). You can unpack mods easily, just follow these steps:

1. Go to your HoH folder (default is \steam\siteamapps\common\Heroes of Hammerwatch)
2. Run Packager.exe
3. From packager tool you view all the mods you are subscribed. Right-Click on the mod you want and select 'Unpack mod'.
4. Mod will be unpacked on \steam\siteamapps\common\Heroes of Hammerwatch\mods

i would be happy to upgrade the sprites to match the in game quality of the other sprites if you would like. i would need the sprite sheet i think. unless there is some way to unpack an uploaded mod.

Yes, "Ignore Pain" is a suitable name too. If my memory serves me right, "Uncanny Dodge" is also a skill for the Barbarian in DnD, that's why I chose that name.

From a flavor standpoint i dont think "Uncanny Dodge" is a fitting name for that passive for a barbarian given that uncanny dodge is a rogue skill in DnD. Uncanny dodge gives the feeling of dexterity and skill. For a hotheaded hunk of muscles like a barbarian I would like to think of something more like the WoW warrior spell "Ignore Pain". So in game, as you rack up skills to stack the buff, it feels more like you get in a sort of battle trance and simply brush off the enemy's measley attacks as you cut them down.
