Okay, thank you for your efforts.

Im afraid I'm not sure. Naughty.
Some people report issues ad others got absolutely nothing.

It's difficult to navigate through as I cannot identify a clear issue so I always have to presume it's something not being executed right. Either with conflicting mods, old remnant files, or the need of another mod manager.
I hope you figure it out :)
naughtybynature Dec 3, 2022 @ 9:23pm
Can not get this to work. Started game with no other skin mods(that I know of).

Do castle mods effect it? Looks super cool and I really want to use it.
ImagawaShion Jan 9, 2022 @ 11:32am
very good
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Nov 23, 2021 @ 10:31am
The thing is some of those mods are the same. Thats why I called them "Versions"

Onna bugeisha versions = You can only choose 1.
Same with Samurai Elite.

Load the version you want first and then dragon guard, etc etc. :)
hanzhallow9999 Nov 17, 2021 @ 11:14pm
out of all your mods, any mods you said must be selected first, i have registered 5 of your mods, so out of those 5 mods, which one must be run first? , I can't understand what you mean ….

1.The Shogun's Samurai Elite - An elite reskin mod.
2.Armored Onna Bugeisha - TAKEDA Version - A Reskin Standalone Sub Mod
3.Armored Onna Bugeisha - An Elite Reskin Standalone Sub Mod
4.The Shogun's Samurai Elite - TAKEDA version. An Elite Reskin
5.The Dragon Guard of Watatsumi

including 2 mods for you and your friend Erica Estrelina Hill.
They were also told to choose first…. ? :

1.Shogun 2 infantry Samurai + Elite reskin [ Patch-FOS Aizu reskin]
2.All EliteInfantry size to 160+Legendary Building no need resource to build+no build limits
.... you guys give me a headache...
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] May 29, 2021 @ 5:17am
They are compatible if one adjusts the load order, seeking to want my hero edits alongside the original overhaul to far more units than my mods cover.
Ooh-la-la, It's GAGA!! May 29, 2021 @ 4:03am
Mkay, fix the link in description then where you recommend Kaplan [MA]'s mod cuz it leads nowhere, also im pritty sure they WILL conflict cuz his mod also changes the look of heros, aka. "elites".
Ooh-la-la, It's GAGA!! May 26, 2021 @ 9:14pm
Hey Ben, nice mod, but where i can find this mod that you recomended? - "The Legendary Samurai Mod by Kaplan [MA]"
i couldn't find it here in workshop and googling didnt work either.
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] May 13, 2021 @ 11:29am
I actually can't recall.
If vastator adds new units, yes, if it overwrites old ones, no.
𝖂𝖎𝖑𝖍𝖊𝖑𝖒 May 13, 2021 @ 8:37am
This is compatible with the Vastator Unit Mod?

Thank you :) Enjoy !

Legendary mod ! THX .
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Aug 30, 2020 @ 1:12pm
That is quite easy to do yes I've paused my modding of shogun for the time being.
However, if you download packfile manager and open up the mod ( follow tutorial on all this at bottom of mod description) you can easily fix this yourself by just deleting entries and saving. Thats literally it.

When you open this mod and scroll down you'll see an entry called "variantmodels" and if you open that you'll see hundreds of entries appear. For each unit in Shogun 2.

if you delete ALL of them, except the generals bodyguard, taisho, etc then that'll do what you wish.

Try it out ! You might pick up a few things yourself and begin a journey of editing / modding :)
Orendiz Aug 28, 2020 @ 2:42pm
is it possible you make a version of this skin mod that changes only the generals? <3
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Aug 15, 2020 @ 6:25am
Hi there Dagnar. I'm afraid I can't help you on this one.

I run a variant of this exact mod myself for campaign nigh every playthrough and I dont have any issues on this.
I playtested it thoroughly to make sure it worked fine.

I cannot quite say why you're run into issues. Best I could recommend would be to make absolutely sure there wasn't any mod of any form causing problems.
Other than that I'm afraid I'm at a loss too. It sounds like a Shingen overwrite file causing you problems. Something somehow loading over the shingen variantmodel files I've included in this mod.
But alas, I cannot say for sure naturally.

I wish you a good day. I'm afraid I cannot offer any more advice.
✠ WARZONE ✠ Aug 14, 2020 @ 6:18pm
ive noticed this this mod works in every aspect except the battle map general takeda shingen in a campaign. i even went ahead to delete all other mods except this one to test and its the same. the model is active in custom battle and on the campaign map itself but as soon as im in a battle on the campaign its vanilla shingen but the rest of his unit is the modded guard.. what do???
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Apr 27, 2020 @ 6:43am
Ahhh okay :)
And sure. No problem :)

happy modding !
General Pants Apr 26, 2020 @ 10:03am
Oops, missed part of that. You can't just use the katana rider model. They hard-coded it to use a katana. If you change the weapon the little guy goes through the animations, but he isn't holding anything. That's why 3D max came up. I'll look into it. I'm trying to do a tetsubo version by altering the actual animation file. I have it done kludgy-ly. Anyway, thanks again for the info!
General Pants Apr 26, 2020 @ 9:46am
Thank you! The guy who did the nodachi cav mod explained one thing: you have to put in a number 2 skeleton arm, see link below. So all I have to do is either find someone who can do it, or find a free 3D design program that can handle 3DS files. How would I open a mesh file?
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Apr 26, 2020 @ 7:46am
So. TLDR: Altering the meshes = Moving stuff around copy paste is easy.
But outright customizing them from scratch and make new things, I can't help you there Im afraid.

I'm mostly an editor :)
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Apr 26, 2020 @ 7:45am
Yes man :) I got his permission on the total war modding forums (not official)
Where he uploaded his mods mainly. he's still there. You can send him a message if you want permissions or such.

And I'm afraid I dont know much about foundational mesh alterations. I only ever made swaps in the files by changing names and such. Moving banners, katanas, etc around.

To give a cavalry a no-dachi I'm going to guess at only. If it was me modding it, I'd imagine I'd need a horse rider using katana cav skeleton. Once I've added that in the unit_stat data files then I'd change the weapon this rider was using No-dachi in a bottom data entry of the packfile manager (I dont recall its name atm but you can find it easily by downloading a "Scabbard" mod from on here.

Only way I'd imagine doing it properly since there is no no-dachi skeleton cav rider
General Pants Apr 25, 2020 @ 2:59pm
Did you ever get in touch with BullGod? I really want to publish his/her/their horse mod here. You can't get it anymore except on an archive in NZ! No one should have to play without it! Also, what do you use to alter meshes? If you mod the meshes/ skeletons themselves you can get no-dachi cav, and I want to make club cav. Link for no-dachi cav:

Damned load orders. Sure thing. Thanks for the tip.:grwskull:
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Apr 15, 2019 @ 6:45am
Clarification: if you use the armored onna bushi mod, make sure you load this mod here first -
What I meant was = Because these mods overlap in small ways, the one you wish to override primarily, must be loaded last.
So if you wish armored onna + my takeda mod here to work together then load onna bushi first and then takeda. Otherwise other way around.
Sorry for the mix-up. Hope that clears it up.
DarkSlayer Apr 14, 2019 @ 10:27pm
Ah, got ya.
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Apr 12, 2019 @ 7:35pm
yes it works with all of them except for Shoguns Elite normal version ( non takeda)
Also take note, if you use the armored onna bushi mod, make sure you load this mod here first...and then Armored onna after.
have fun :)
DarkSlayer Apr 12, 2019 @ 7:32pm
Can this mod be used with any of your other re-skin mods?
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Feb 24, 2019 @ 10:00am
Sometimes larger things contain issues. It can be an internal script, a typo, a problem with overwriting upon assembling multiple mods together.
For instance, the grand overhaul Im talking about was an edited version I used. My game ran fine without any personal edits made to the overhaul.
Simple stuff such as texture chances, mesh on units. Stats editions. Etc.
Shogun 2 can be extremely case sensitive.
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Feb 24, 2019 @ 10:00am
It could be either of those but I'd doubt it. I mainly refer to mods that are combined and aren't always compatible. Causing script issues if a load order is bad or something is downright not compatible. It happens sometimes when using many mods.
My primary issues that can be described as what you've run into were results of an overhaul I used to have that was extremely big, and for whatever reason unstable. The moment that I would get the campaign going, then after building an army and getting attacked at Kyoto my game would ALWAYS crash. be 100 % unable to run Kyoto map.

I dont know how. Why. Only that the grand mod overhaul was the culprit. Incredibly frustrating but I fixed it by isolating the mod as the cause.
TAKEDA 🔴 SHINGEN Feb 23, 2019 @ 10:23pm
When you say scripting, you mean .loc and .txt file? Or .lua and .esf?
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Feb 23, 2019 @ 9:45pm
that sounds like a campaign script issue.
Maybe you have an overhaul mod causing issues upon specific units being recruited.
If the issue is consistent around X turns, then its not a game problem. Gotta be a broken script. I've run into similar issues in the past myself. Ofc this isn't always easy to track down but I recommend you look at your greater mods that change campaign stuff. Recruitment info.
I doubt its anything texture related.
TAKEDA 🔴 SHINGEN Feb 23, 2019 @ 8:20pm
Yeah I think I'll have no choice but the thing is the CTD occurs at 10-15 turns only. :steamfacepalm: Thanks anyway. :lunar2019grinningpig:
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Feb 23, 2019 @ 6:01pm
I dont, Im afraid. But I can tell you how to avoid causing it in a step by step manner.
If your mods cause you to crash first of all isolate which one is causing it.
Determine if you've modded it further. made edits that may contain broken lines or unfinished code etc.
And then just go from there. I had to do that for so long whilst making my mods since sometimes I oversaw something prior to final release.
So dont bother with the dump file. Instead isolate which mod is causing issues and try to either remove it, or... if its a mod you've made edits to. try to double check your edits. Or... remove the mod and reinstall it, making edits again carefully.
I've run into many crashes whilst changing cavalry to 150 or so and forgetting to add 150 number to horses as well as soldiers. Insta crash right there. Stuff like that.
Or even a simply spacebar click too many on a filepath. Shogun 2 can be very case sensitive
TAKEDA 🔴 SHINGEN Feb 23, 2019 @ 5:47pm
Ok thanks I'll test that out right away! Do you know how to read a dump file, when the game crash? I keep experiencing CTD, I thought I fixed it, but it keeps happening randomly around the 10th or 15th turn... :/
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Feb 23, 2019 @ 5:39pm
As Gestalt said a mod larger than 900 megabyte can cause issues. I had to delete a fuckton of unitparts from my own mod here because I suddenly ran outta space adding meshes + textures.
I'm not sure why you'd run into issues otherwise.
It can be a number of reasons.
Nr 1: Steam being buggy.
Nr 2: Mod too big
Nr 3: Potential file name issues ( although not really. That only affects a mods ability to load in the launcher)
Nr 4: A buggy total war launcher.
I'd wager you're running into 1,2,4. Either or. try to check the size of your mod first. And if the mod is running into issues randomly. Bear in mind that its best to update 1 mod at a time.
Sometimes its also best to restart the modloader every single time you finish an update
Because...its a buggy piece of shit sometimes lol.
TAKEDA 🔴 SHINGEN Feb 23, 2019 @ 2:29pm
No mine doesn't work this way, don't know why. Been trying since yesterday. I must change the name of my mod to update it, or else it won't.... very weird. :steamfacepalm:
Gestalt Feb 23, 2019 @ 1:42pm
@Axis: if the mod is big, it will take some time to upload all the mod. When you click update, go back to mod manager and slide down. If you correctly do it, it will say updating xxxx.pack or like so.
TAKEDA 🔴 SHINGEN Feb 23, 2019 @ 1:27pm
Hey there Ben, I've just put a mod on here, but I can't seem to update it. Could you help me out? I open the mod manager, I double click on my mod and click on (update), but when I go back to steam, I don't see that my mod has been updated... And therefore I can't edit my changes note or add one that are from the right day.
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Feb 19, 2019 @ 10:37pm
Newest update is live:
2 brand new helmets. Super unique and big. One of which is the rarest helmet in the entire game. The Shoguns Kabuto which is only earned via multiplayer rank 1 campaign ( I think its the one anyway)
1 new crest: Golden dragon crest. Very cool looking most units will have it.
Enjoy everyone. I think thats about all I can do here. The mod may be complete.
Kudos to my friend Erica. She was the one that showed me about the file containing edits I totally missed.
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Feb 15, 2019 @ 6:45pm
Hey Red. I suggest you check out my tutorial and copy the stuff I inserted for elites unto whatever units of your own choosing. I built this off off the Legendary Samurai mod that remade all normal units but I felt that the elites should stand out like never before.
You can however change that by following my tutorial and playing around with stuff :)
Red Comet Feb 15, 2019 @ 11:48am
I really like your mods they are very good can you do this armor to apply to all samurai? not only elite?
Gestalt Feb 15, 2019 @ 12:16am
@lazywish

database>unit_stats_land_tables>equipment theme you need to place a valid equipment from database>warscape_equipment_theme
ß円ðµ Feb 14, 2019 @ 5:35pm
Hey, sorry that i have to use your page for this (i hope you dont mind lol) what should i do if i were to add or change a weapon for a unit?
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Feb 5, 2019 @ 7:53pm
You may have another mod causing issues by overlapping. Try to load my mod first. Alternatively, download my mask mod via the mediafire link and load that one first.
Either way, the mod works. It tends to be a load-order problem for most people. Shogun 2 is very sensitive
SOS Feb 5, 2019 @ 7:18am
Any reason why the takeda Daimyo still looks like the og character?
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Feb 1, 2019 @ 10:05pm
sure thing. Have fun :) I made a personal edit for Takeda myself. Always loved that trailer appearance heh.
happy modding, :)

Thank you and yes i still remember those lol. got some free time now so i decided to properly return and enjoy the game some more, anyway i found this in twc which is [WIP] Shogun 2 Total Reskin - http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?753677-Shogun-2-Total-Reskin

Dont know if you can see the link but Im trying to continue someone else work hopefully completing it for my own use/taste. for now im going to look on twc again in a few days to see what can i do for this
Khârn the Betrayer  [author] Feb 1, 2019 @ 7:12am
You cannot differenciate the armor designs unless the unit has a unique name. but you can indeed change the faction colors.
Its done via the RBG color system which has a file for it using Packfilemanager. I for instance turned tokugawa pure gold / white color as you can see in the images as well as Takeda more Reddish / orange to match the trailer samurai.
I suggest you download a Shogun 2 Color mod and open it using Packfile manager because one of those mods has a very simple layout with a RBG color file ready to edit to your liking. Simple as.
And as for RBG color information. Its a very simple google search. TLDR: You got a total of 9 boxes that contain nunbers. Every 3 boxes contain a color field for a units armor. Outer armor, inner cloth, and minor armor features like sowing, etc.

Hope this helps :)
