I considered working on it for curation, but I would have needed to stress test it and fix the little things, which I wasn't up to doing. I might fix the little things in time, though.

when i played vanessa's manor, with this mod enables, I didnt die so much. its because we (well me, to be specific) kept sacrificing eachother (mainly him) so we knew what not to dlas o. but this is just a fabulas MOD! (spelt fabulous wrong on purpose)

@zack1stplayer : I completely disagree. I like fighting bosses with my friend and there aren't really any pons available in boss fights. You can easily turn off this mod for the levels that you don't want it active in, but other people such as myself would want this for that.

@Artix Fox : I was more referring to the new 3 lives mechanic that lets you retry the same boss for up to 3 times in Boss Rush before sending you back to the first boss.

Personally, I absolutely hate the three lives mechanic, all it does is frustrate the person by kicking them out when they're on a roll and leaving them to twiddle their thumbs, but it would definitely be fitting to only allow three respawns in any level that has three lives.

I definitely appreciate you planning an option to just enable the full mechanic everywhere. I'm looking forward to that.

@yoshimo : why not add a limit to how many times a player can respawn (perhaps 3 per player)? Kind of like how the devs added the 3 lives mechanic to boss rush. This way, players can't abuse the mod since they have a limited number of lives. Other multiplayer games like Super Mario 3D World also use this mechanic.

To answer everyone, first, let me explain that my personal motto with my mods is to respect the game's intent or to do something zany while avoiding crashes. This mod respects the game's intent, so I will take feedback and tweak the mod accordingly, just like GfB did with Death Wish.

This mod isn't intended to make things easier. It's intended to allow respawns where it's normally impossible or annoying. Death Wish is supposed to be difficult. However, I can see how for certain Death Wishes, for the same reasons, it would be desirable to want to respawn without collecting Pons, especially if it's long (see Artix Fox's example).

I will enable the mod for P&T. I will also reenable it for normal Death Wish, but with long delay to discourage just standing around. Ideally, I would set respawn delay per Death Wish, but that's too much for me. I haven't even unlocked all of them!

ALSO , once config menus are fixed, I will provide an option to restore original behavior!

Not everyone is playing Death Wish, or even the base game of A Hat In Time, for bragging rights. People like me just want to play it for the fun. If I'm fighting a long and hard boss or level with a friend, especially in Death WIsh where a lot of the dying is actually going to be happening, it's going to get more and more annoying for him to have to wait for me to finish the level without him if he dies to something cheap (or if I knock him off a cliff on purpose for the lols, 'cause that's the fun of multiplayer), defeating the whole purpose of this mod. This update is like saying that mod support should be banned from the base game since it is technically "cheating" the story levels. People who want to play Death Wish "legit" will play it legit, just as people who choose to play the base game legit without mods do so.

I'm not very good at this game, but playing Death Wish with my friend over Parsec was really fun; we helped eachother out and instead of throwing ourselves at a brick wall over and over again we could actually do some of the harder missions with the timed respawn. I was going to get it myself, but with this update, what's the point? The only suggestion I had is a toggle at least so if someone's an idiot who's bad at games like me has at least a fighting chance with a friend.

I mean, by that argument, you should disable Buyback Charity in the purple time rifts, since if one player dies, the other player could just wait around until the first can respawn.
Co-op mode itself is going to add an inherent advantage to the levels, and I don't think you really need to account for the "cheatiness" of this mod in Death Wish. People don't have to subscribe to this mod, and the folks that subscribe to it are the people that want to benefit from it.

@Artix Fox The reason I disabled it is because of how it would basically function as a timed "checkpoint." If you're able to survive long enough, you don't get taken back to the start. In the more calm death wishes (like Security Breach or Heating up Mafia Town), you could simply wait around to get infinite retries. I felt that this was too abusable, which is why I disabled it.

Thinking about it a bit right now, I think I'll look into not disabling it if P&T is enabled... Maybe...

Hmm... Not sure how I feel about disabling this in Death Wish. Death Wish is already not exactly designed for co-op mode, so you're more likely to die accidentally. And Death Wish doesn't have quite as many pons in the levels as the normal levels do. I don't think I'd have enjoyed doing the Death Wish community rifts as much with this update.

Instead of outright disabling it, how about adding an option, or better yet, making it 6 seconds between pons? If a player can survive a full minute in a hardmode boss fight then they basically deserve to let their partner respawn.
