Anyways I appreciate and commend your effort no matter whether you decide to re-evaluate the new ring icon or not.
But it's pretty easy to make it a bit bigger.
Could the new icon for the ring be made a bit bigger? Its' black outline looks a little scruffy when used together with RPG Style Inventory.

i was looking for a mod like this but 30% speed bonus sounds op. i guess i have no choice, mods that add footwear for 1.4 are hard to find.
Its is mainly an issue with the race mod, but in truth us just vanilla code being weird
Rimworld checks the apparel tags against the race's body parts tags to know if they can wear the apparel, but when the body part is not tagged properly, the race is allowed to wear any amount of that apparel
So basically, tell the race author to fix their body part tags
