I have made a MEIOU and Taxes compatible version of Ad Lucem which includes a dynamic transparency layer, together with Justice Fighter/Seelowe (who made the original M&T compatibility patch you are linking in the description here on Steam).

I would request permission to post this new version on Steam, naturally giving credit to you two, Borsch and skenera. Would that be okay?
Clark Crente Nov 7, 2024 @ 2:16am
@skenera thank you, it looked better! Still wanted to use the whole ad lucem as a base if you know what I mean! Basically idea is to look kind of the newer pdx's games when you are looking the continent instead of the province. Any type of dynamic border effect would be great.

Thanks again for taking your time to answer, idk how didn't see as soon as you answered lol
skenera  [author] Aug 30, 2024 @ 2:22pm
@Clark Crente The dynamic borders mod works by making its mipmaps progressively more transparent (the changes in borders.shader are negligible), so it should be compatible with Ad Lucem if you only use its textures.

Borsch  [author] Aug 27, 2024 @ 9:05am
@Clark Crente Sorry you had to wait so long for a reply, what do you mean by making them looking dynamic? Do you want state and province borders to fade as you zoom out?
Clark Crente Aug 8, 2024 @ 11:39am
Please, is there a way to make the borders to look dynamic in political map mod?

Thank you
Borsch  [author] Jul 10, 2024 @ 11:41am
@Војвода Рачић since there are no reports of issues, it should be working as intended.
Војвода Рачић Jul 10, 2024 @ 7:06am
Greetings! Is this mod working with the newest version?
sbradley0 Apr 27, 2024 @ 5:32am
I love the Fog of War, would be amazing if it were standalone like the Water Only version.
proteus06 Feb 21, 2024 @ 2:28pm
@skenera my apologies for the delayed response, that definitely fixed the problem, thank you so much for the mod as well as the fix, appreciate it!
skenera  [author] Feb 1, 2024 @ 10:02am
@proteus06 Set PARALLAX to false in constants.fxh, I must have made a mistake that only affects OpenGL.
proteus06 Jan 31, 2024 @ 2:19pm
@Borsh just tested with only Ad Lucem loaded and unfortunately it does seem to happen with only that one loaded. Weirdly, if you don't try to move too fast it seems to recover itself for a bit as it will lag and then start moving again. Seems to be related to zooming in after you've zoomed out. However, if you try and move too much it'll lock up entirely.
Borsch  [author] Jan 31, 2024 @ 2:10pm
@proteus06 Does this also happen when Ad Lucem is the only loaded mod?
proteus06 Jan 31, 2024 @ 11:59am
Great mod, however, on macOS it seems to cause the game to crash, not a huge deal as I can switch to Windows, but just wanted to share. The issue seems to be related to zooming in and out as that will consistently reproduce a game crash. I use all the same mods on Windows as macOS if that helps (GMI, The Great Exhibition, Doge's Ironman compatible tweaks, HRE Ironman rework). Thanks for the mod, appreciate your time and efforts!
skenera  [author] Dec 30, 2023 @ 3:59pm
I have no objection to the addition of these two parameters.
Borsch  [author] Dec 30, 2023 @ 2:36pm
@Negi sounds great, but I'm not the author of Ad Lucem. I'd definitely be interested in these additions, but skenera is the one to make the decision, considering that Ad Lucem is their creation.
Negi Dec 28, 2023 @ 11:23pm
The new parameters are an offset for border height and a separate multiplier for border color intensity. I wanted to add these so I could reimplement Kryo's old 'revolutionary borders' mod with just the graphics pack.
Negi Dec 28, 2023 @ 11:21pm
Hey Borsch, I have some enhancements and updates to this mod, adding two new parameters for border drawing calculations. Could you accept my friend request so I can send the updated version (also bumped to 1.36)
Borsch  [author] Nov 11, 2023 @ 11:30am
@Kaiser Wilhelm are you using any other mods alongside this one?
Kaiser Wilhelm Nov 11, 2023 @ 5:50am
I am on windows and this mod which i have been using for nearly my entire EU4 (career) has started to cause the game to freeze up in the middle of months. I pray for an update
dvolk67 Nov 9, 2023 @ 10:34pm
It is working on 1.36 with no problem. Just ignore this yellow triangle.
Borsch  [author] Nov 9, 2023 @ 5:20am
@Marcketza since there are no reports of Ad Lucem's current version not working with 1.36, an update is not needed unless skenera decides to change the mod in some way.
Marcketza Nov 6, 2023 @ 6:50am
Any chance update to 1.36?
skenera  [author] Oct 14, 2023 @ 6:44am
@Mantle No problem, just mention it in the description.
Mantle Oct 8, 2023 @ 7:18am
Hey do you mind if i am using your mod while making my own mod thumbnail that is unrelated to the mod. (I looks better with it)
skenera  [author] Sep 9, 2023 @ 6:40am
@The Crap Patty No, but you can set REPLACE_WATER_TEXTURE and WAVES to false in constants.fxh.
Smoky Sep 7, 2023 @ 8:41pm
can we have a version without water?
Borsch  [author] Aug 21, 2023 @ 10:46pm
@Septillion You can! Open this mod's constants.fxh file and reduce the values of TERRAIN_COLOR_OPACITY properties.
[BRE] Samson / Septillion Aug 20, 2023 @ 9:02am
I love the looks of this mod, but I wish I could have the transparent political map mode like TBARW extra has so that I can see the map textures more
Gaemur's duo Jul 12, 2023 @ 5:28am
@skenera thanks for doing that, it's super helpful
skenera  [author] Jul 11, 2023 @ 1:53pm
@Valkaegir @MooBoogie
Steam keeps deleting my comment, so here's the link to "Ad Lucem - water only" encoded in base64:

MooBoogie Jun 29, 2023 @ 9:11pm
Yeah I just tried that, got random black splotches everywhere all over the map (not the regular False Contininent Shadows thing). Tried changing the load order, same thing. :(
Borsch  [author] Jun 29, 2023 @ 12:45am
@Valkaegir It's definitely possible, but I can only suggest contacting skenera.
Borsch  [author] Jun 29, 2023 @ 12:44am
@MooBoogie You can try using the Ad Lucem + Typus Orbis Terrarum compatibility patch.
MooBoogie Jun 28, 2023 @ 3:44pm
Also is there a Victorum Universalis compatibility patch? And if so, is it possible to make one?
MooBoogie Jun 28, 2023 @ 2:59pm
@ Valkaegir I was just looking for that exact thing! Please post that mod if you do ever make it, I've been looking for a GMI + Ad Lucem water mod for so long.
Gaemur's duo Jun 12, 2023 @ 3:22am
First off this is one of my favorite graphics mods so thanks! I was wondering if it's possible to isolate the ocean effect, I'm trying to piece together the water from this mod and the political map mode from graphical map improvements (just for my own use) but i'm still inexperienced with modding eu4 so I've spent a couple hours with little luck trying to cut parts from this mod and paste it in (frankenstein style). Essentially I'm just curious if I need all of the FX files or if I can simply carry over pdx water, the addition to constants, and a relevant segment in pdxmap? Any tips or insight on where to focus would be much appreciated!
Colquhoun May 28, 2023 @ 5:41am
@Sutixela Yes. As well as the two values @Borsch mentioned, you can control the height that fading starts and ends using MIN_HEIGHT and MAX_HEIGHT. I use these custom values (defaults commented).

static const float TERRAIN_COLOR_OPACITY_NEAR = 0.80f; // 0.40f
static const float TERRAIN_COLOR_OPACITY_FAR = 0.80f; // 0.40f
static const float TERRAIN_COLOR_MIN_HEIGHT = 390.0f; // 60.0f;
static const float TERRAIN_COLOR_MAX_HEIGHT = 490.0f; // 300.0f;

Amazing mod, the screenshots don't do it justice.
Kees May 2, 2023 @ 5:10pm
Update for Linux users, disabling only PARALLAX seems to fix the hard locks too, no need to disable the other stuff.
skenera  [author] May 1, 2023 @ 2:02pm
@Vengeance That's strange, it worked for me. Are you using other graphic mods and do you have any errors in the file \\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis IV/logs/error.log?
Alatriste May 1, 2023 @ 7:35am
@skenera thank you for responding. I greatly appreciate it. I tried it but it just makes the borders black.
skenera  [author] Apr 30, 2023 @ 6:16pm
@Vengeance Delete border.shader.
Alatriste Apr 29, 2023 @ 11:03pm
Hi mod authors! Great mod! How do I change the border highlighter from black and white stripes back to good old vanilla glowing gold? Thanks!
Borsch  [author] Apr 22, 2023 @ 8:46am
@Sutixela There is! You can do that by changing the values of properties TERRAIN_COLOR_OPACITY_FAR and TERRAIN_COLOR_OPACITY_NEAR in the constants.fxh file in the mod archive. Try reducing the latter property to a lesser value. Keep in mind that trees will not appear in political mapmode.
Sutixela Apr 22, 2023 @ 7:57am
Is there any way to fade in the terrain map when the camera gets closer? like in more recent PDX games (CK3, Vicky...)
Davi Mar 8, 2023 @ 7:07am
ok ill try thanks
Borsch  [author] Mar 8, 2023 @ 2:51am
@Davi You can try renaming or removing these images. I'm not sure exactly how much of an impact this will have on in-game graphics.
Alternatively, you can try adjusting the colours of the autumn/winter colormap using software of your choice, e.g. paint.net , GIMP, Photoshop.
Davi Mar 6, 2023 @ 9:51am
Can I disable it? It makes anbennar and this mod on pic very blue and weird as if the fungi took over the world every autumn.
