Some may not understand what raydraconus says so here's some instructions on how to not make it crash over and over and over and over and over again.
Uninstall Ark, right click Ark Survival Evolved in the library OR click the gear icon on the right of "Last Played", go to properties, go to Beta, click Beta Participation, then click "preaquatica - ASE : Pre-Aquatica", and finally reinstall the game and you should be good to go without the worry of the game crashing!

also for those who want to play this mod but cant uninstall the game go into the management then data for the game on steam and for the version pick preaquatica and reinstall the game that will have you in the version before they broke the game and a bunch of mods. a lot of mod devs i see also dont want to have their mods on the new version so i would just keep it on the older one

i wish this mod would update to have dinopithecus and mesopithecus similar to how it has gigantopithecus but just a little less like a half way point of still animal like but with some capability to craft different throw-able weapons and more intricate homes and structures but not being able to unlock engrams or tame and mount other creatures just to have more monkey madness like being a lil monkey taking over the world or having your mates come together as different monkeys like in planet of the apes how the different apes all got smart together

You need to use a pre-aquatica version of the game

Every time i launch the game it crashes.
I remember i could play it before but now even v1 or v2 both crashes.

Hey Finn I don't know if you're still around or even see these comments, but if you plan to ever update this mod to be fixed because of the recent Aquatica release I just think you should be aware a ton of servers (especially pretty much all PaD servers) have opted to just stick to the pre-aquatica version of ARK because of many mods that are likely to never be fixed. So if you do intend to update this mod to work with the Aquatica update, it would be in everyone's best interest to keep the current version available in some form.

this mod was like the first and only mod for ark that I really used on the regular, I remember when people had full servers for people to play as and roleplay as dinosaurs, this game was literally the Isle or beasts of bermuda for me before those games were a thing, thanks for the dope memories finntastic and shout out to the legacy of play as dino

Is there a way to change the crafting requirements for the dino shelters? Playing as a Direwolf and everything works fine, except the crafting of the re-spawn cave structure. I can't get the rhino horn. Can I remove that as a requirement?

Is Play as Dino at the top of your active mod list? If it isn't then it doesn't work but if it is at the top of the active mod list then I don't know what the issue is.

So what you want to do is spawn in as some random dino like a rex. Then click ESC and go to the Play as Dino Settings.
Then click on "Get all (Modded) Dino Classes" and after a few seconds - few minutes (depends on how many mods are enabled) you'll get all the modded dinos as playables.

Some answers to a few questions:

Yes, the mod does still work. It has to be first in line on the mod list, I believe.
This mod does work in multiplayer on any map, and you CAN play as modded dinos. It takes some exploring of the menu to find the option, but enabling all works.
Sometimes it doesn't let you place structures as a dino... We don't know why this happens. It seems to be a lottery roll you don't want to win.
I do not know where Finntastic went, but I believe it was a combination of being threatened by the unruly side of the community as well as having new projects to work on other than PAD. I hope the best for him, but I also sincerely hope he takes the time to update PAD if Snail updates this "aquatica" slop and breaks the devkit again...
