(cont. due to char limit)
This should also work for Scourgerunner Chariots (whose DLC I also don't own so can't test) by doing the same with the following file:
variantmeshes/variantmeshdefinitions/def_dark_steed_scourgerunner_ror.variantmeshdefinition

Alternatively it might be possible to grab the .pack file from:
\steamapps\workshop\content\594570\1415600828\hungryhorse.pack
and install it manually but I'm not sure if that would work.

Thanks again!

Hello and thank you for the kind words! Unfortunately I haven't bought WH3 yet so I can't upload any mods for it but if you or anyone else wants to recreate it I'll explain how I made it (though I'm unsure whether WH3 is structured the same). If anyone does this please let me know and I'll put a link in the description.

In RPFM I imported def_dark_steed.variantmeshdefinition from the game files located at:
variantmeshes/variantmeshdefinitions/def_dark_steed.variantmeshdefinition
and replaced the entire entry with the following:

<VARIANT_MESH>
<SLOT name="body" >
<VARIANT_MESH model="VariantMeshes/wh_variantmodels/hr1/brt/brt_horse/brt_horse_01.wsmodel" >
<META_DATA>audio_armour_type:leather</META_DATA> <META_DATA>audio_entity_type:wh_horse_normal</META_DATA></VARIANT_MESH>
</SLOT>
</VARIANT_MESH>

as can be seen in this screenshot [i.imgur.com].

Very good mod. Those vanilla starved horses are no good. Thanks.

Whoops, my mistake. I forgot to set it to public. It should work now!

The link doesn't seem to work, and it's not on your Workshop page for some reason.

I've uploaded a separate version with the altered file name, just unsubscribe from the current version and delete Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\594570\1415600828 and subscribe to this one instead:

Hey, I tried the quick fix to make it work with the Dryrain DE overhaul, but everytime I start the game after renaming it, it automatically creates a new hungryhorse.pak (resulting in one !hungryhorse.pack and one hungryhorse.pack) and crashes shortly after. Any idea what to do against that?

@MINOS
I'm not good with textures so I can't help you there, but it wouldn't be too difficult for someone who is.
MINOS Jun 21, 2018 @ 2:46am
Actually they do have red Eyes and in later Versions ugly Teeth.
Also they are black shown.

I would appreciate black ones, grey/white Manes with reddish Eyes.

Is that possible?

@Cross
For a quick fix you could go to Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\594570\1415600828 and rename hungryhorse.pack to !hungryhorse.pack, because mod priority is alphabetical. You'd also have to enable out of date mods, since non-workshop mods appear as out of date.

You wouldn't get the benefit of the new textures but for that you'd need to edit Dryrain's files and point def_dark_steed.variantmeshdefinition in the direction of the Bretonnian one.

To be fair, they're alive and look like that due to dark magic.

Ayyyy thanks, someone else did a "healthy horses" mod but made them use the Chaos horses and those are far too bulky.

Thanks a lot mate, their vanilla horses are so off...those horses wouldn't last 10 seconds of heavy scouting duty, much less battle.

Now I need to try and merge it with Dryrain's...

Again, thanks.
