Changing "Lightsaber" to "sword" doesn't seems to work
Only the Jedi class can still have the lightsaber and if I change for a sword, the lightsaber disappear and cannot be equipe anymore

@Frenchy I know its been months but for anyone else working, True Primary Secondaries is backwards compatible with Primary Secondaries Beta. Which means that even though your mod manager may list a missing dependency, the Jedi Class mod *does* work with TPS just fine

Jedi Class uses it but you can't have the beta and this one enabled at the same time.

i just com one year later to see if there is now som way to turn it of.. is realy to hard to see a light saber always on for me (ahah) The first mod for lightsaber (one hand) turn of after strike that was awsome.. don't know if is it to hard or special animation to do but.. if you can may be (and is no to long) make a way to turn it of manualy like a "button"

First time trying a full star wars conversion, so far the only issue presented is this one and its the sabers, they just look like dull batons and no lighting, ( same issue as another player where they're not glowing) i've fiddled with all graphical settings and still no result

I've also been wondering if I can get lightsabers to work on both jedi classes and my regular soldiers. I tried adding a line to the Ranger to allow for it and tried changing some lines in the lightsaber ini as well. I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong any help would be appreciated

Hiya, I've been trying to search for a way to do this but is it possible to set the lightsabers to be used by both Jedi classes *and* regular soldiers as a sword? I'm looking at the WeaponCat line in the ini and I'm wondering if I can set the weapons as *both* a sword and a lightsaber?

I scrolled through multiple reply pages and couldn't find any reference to that question, so I am asking it on my own: Based on you mentioning that you can edit the weapon category so it can be used on normal soldiers, does this mean you do not need the Jedi Class mod if you do so?

I only want lightsabers for my templars but don't want a new Jedi class. I'll be testing this on my own

@ zin: mostly stats and aesthetics. I guess a saberstaft can't be thrown.

@Vegeta: could probably use the weapon skin replacer mod to replace the meshes of the dual sabers. Would require some config editing though.

@FrankNova: this is usually a graphics issue... Afraid I'm not sure what could cause the problem if you're running max settings.

Hi! My sabers are not glowing, any thoughts on this :)? My graphic settings are all maxed out. Jedi Revised mod sabers also do not glow

Is there some way to use the regular Lightsaber in the secondary slot to dual wield that way?

I know there's a "Dual Saber " option, but that can't use the lightsaber skins from "Lightsaber Ghost Templates [WOTC]" and is stuck with the ugly blocky design that looks more like a rounded brick than a lightsaber.

for the saberstaves they turn into a regular lightsaber when thrown (which is fine for now imo)

the issue is they turn invisible when they return to your hand. suddenly you are only holding the blade part with no hilt. this is annoying but not gamebreaking.

unfortunately what is gamebreaking is that if you make a save after you threw the saber (its now invisible in your hand) then reload that save, it crashes unless its the first save you load after launching the game

not really expecting you to fix it, just sharing what i know incase someone has an idea how to fix it

I might give a look at incorporating compatibility for Musashi's upgrades down the line but probably not soon and can't guarantee if/when I get around to it.

Haven't tried to get the saberstaves to work with the throw ability myself so I don't know how feasible that is. The issue you will probably have is that IIRC the saberstaves don't have throw animations on the archetypes so getting that done would require some editing in the Unreal Editor, not something that can be done with config edits alone.

I didn't set these up for compatibility with Musashi's lightsaber upgrades in mind (this mod was released before his WOTC Jedi mod) so probably not.

is there any way to get the saberstaves from this mod to be throwable? i tried enabling it in the jedi mod, which sorta works. the saber just turns invisible after throwing it and the game crashes if you reload a save from during the mission before you threw it.

@magicalmac: Sorry for the late response. I do most of my comment responses from mobile and ever since Steam updated their app it only displays the most recent mod comment.

(1)You would need to use the template name for the lightsaber you want to add. Probably the best place to find the template names is in the localization file for this mod, because you can look up the item template name by its in-game name. I don't remember the names offhand but they will probably be along the lines of WOTCLightsaber_CV or something similar.

(2)The weapon categories a given class can equip per slot will be defined in that class's XcomClassData ini file (Name may not be exact).

@Cherynoble: The only thing I can think of that might cause that error would be if you didn't have the Animation and Socket Supplement mod subscribed and/or enabled. The training saber is added by Musashi's Jedi class mod, not this mod.

Am I supposed to only use the training saber? All of the other ones, like the knights lightsaber, I try to equip after upgrading to them won’t show up on my character.

1) so I'm in the xcomgamedata ini and see the items equipped, if I want the templar to hold a lightsaber what should i type? Items[1]=(Item="Lightsaber") ?

2) where should I go if I want any soldier to be able to equip a lightsaber, even if it's not their starting loadout? like if I wanted to give my ranger a double-sided lightsaber instead of a sword?

@magicalmac: make sure you're looking at the XComGameData file in the config folder of the documents folder for WOTC (i.e. C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\My Games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XComGame\Config). If you don't see SquaddieTemplar, you're in the wrong file. Once you've made the changes you would just save and exit. Not a bad idea to make a backup though in case you're worried about making mistakes.

@Shaggoth (Ищезаяц): That's weird. There is a cosmetic component to the lightwhips but they should be disabled by default. You could try Having a look at the XComContent ini for this mod and delete anything that isn't commented out. In terms of disabling the weapon itself, might be possible to do that with Iridar's Weapon Skin replacer. Never tried it myself so I'm not sure how that works.

I found the xcomgamedata ini but I don't see squaddietemplar. Also if I edit the file, do I have to save it as a specific file/format for it to work?

Nope. It's a base game config file. I'm not aware of AML having a direct way to access them but you can get to it using file explorer.

@ Talon: Not out of the box, no.

@ Esoteric Ryoushi: Easiest way to find template names is to look at the Localization file. Makes it easy to work backwards from the in-game item name.

@ magicalmac : To edit the templar’s starting loadout? You can find it in your War of the Chosen config folder in your documents folder then the XComGameData ini and the line that starts with Loadouts=(LoadoutName="SquaddieTemplar"

@ RVT: You’re not going to be able to equip the primary lightsabers without at least the Primary Secondaries mod. But if you set the lightsaber weapon categories to “sword,” as described in the description, I would think you should at least be able to equip the Lightsaber Shotos, which have secondary slot versions.

I really appreciate all the work on this mod, and on those that support it. Modding this game is the best.

I'm trying to let my Rangers use lightsabers. I don't want the Jedi class. I don't want anything else the dependencies (mods) provide. I just want to let my Rangers use cooler looking sword.

I've made the ini edits to the XComGameData_WeaponData file in the config directory for this mod, as instructed to the best of my ability.

I don't see any lightsabers available for my Rangers. All sword options look to be the same as vanilla. I'm not using any other mods that affect melee weapons.

I can confirm that the weapons do appear with just MostlyHarmless' copy and paste method into XComTruePrimarySecondaries as I have been playing a campaign with them for a while. However when it comes to dual wielding a weapon in the secondary slot I don't think it calculates the secondary weapon's damage. I don't know if this is caused by the lack of a ApplyToSlot command or another problem with TPS as I've seen on the TPS page comments about the same problem.

I'm not sure. It worked for me when I tested it and for everyone I suggested it to in the past. I don't use TPS myself so I haven't tried it recently.

your solution about +IndividualWeaponConfig to XComTruePrimarySecondaries file doesn't work since it seems that it doesn't change the anture of the +IndividualWeaponConfig command. It missing something.
Is @LLCoolZJ question is the solution?

When adding your weapons to the True Primary Secondaries config file XComTruePrimarySecondaries do we have to add an ApplyToSlot command (usually ApplyToSlot=eInvSlot_PrimaryWeapon) to the line? Because most of the lines in TPS have it and it says it is mandatory like TemplateName to "identify the template the config should be applied to". Will it not hurt to add it anyway if it's not needed?

so I have built a couple lightsabers but whenever I try to equip it to a character it says "unavailable to". How do I actually equip my characters with lightsabers?

The weapon category can be changed so these sabers are pretty flexible in that regard. As long as the soldier can use the weapon category to which the sabers are assigned, they'll be able to use them.

@Ikeman: You can actually do this yourself with a few simple config edits. Recently explained how to do this on the lightsaber ghost templates mod so I'll just repost that advice below:

So first, open up the XComPrimarySecondaries config file for the Lightsabers mod and copy the entries that start with +IndividualWeaponConfig

Next, open up the file in True Primary secondaries labeled XComTruePrimarySecondaries.

Scroll down to where you start seeing lines that also start with +IndividualWeaponConfig and paste the individual weapon config entries from the saber mod on the line after those entries that were originally there.

@Tyler Chambers: No plans to change the existing models or add weapon appearance mods. Closest thing I might do is add more options to the lightsaber ghost templates mod.

@E-macho: I think someone else has done that since you asked. :)

@Refferoni: Sorry. If the soldier has the Jedi class or Force User ability and you didn't change the weapon category for the lightsabers in this mod from lightsaber, they should be able to equip them. I'm not sure what might interfere with that.
