Make all these points no longer true, make me wrong, then perhaps the claims of unbalance are untrue. But until then, understand that there should not be a unit that requires a player to counter it to such a degree to stop it being a game breaker. /endrant
A player needs to be very very bad with the mounted gunner to lose against someone without one. I mean.. You could rush someone with a mounted gunner, you could run that approach. This minimizes its effectiveness, less time to murder your valuable units... But that is strategy out the window, and will still fail to protect you against at least 2 volleys into some very valuable units. You'll be lucky if it isnt gone, and the enemy hasn't even taken any losses yet.
What about matchlock units? They are good against cav! First of all, matchlocks are cheaper than bows, and while it holds historical merit to have bows more expensive (due to training), one thing is left out. Archers with all that training would be able to predict the path of a unit and hit fairly often.. so I definitely support making arrows faster, rather than expending the time and computer power in making archers predict where the horse will be... But onto why gun cavalry are far too powerful at this point.
1. My great-grandfather died in a Nazi death camp in Poland, my Grandfather almost was too, so I think I can tell what a Nazi is.
2. Absolute rubbish, if are refering to someone with Killerfish's micro then maybe you argument has some truth, but the average or even high level player would make a mistake at one point or a player with poor micro could use bow cav or mounted samurai coupled with matchlocks to get those 'pesky' gunners.
First off this is silly becasue everyone that plays Shogun 2 would need to have it. Also mounted gunners are perfectaly balanced, All you need to kill them are 2 light cav. WTF
