But I'm eagerly going to dive into British rail history, and research about the Big Four, their lines, cities and regions. Thank you very much for this great, fun-promising map. (I saw your videos: impressive railway networking and decoration! Very inspiring!)
It is playing very well at the moment. With some preventative maintenance, I have kept city sizes down and used GrandT's massive map settings mod to reduce the growth rate of towns.
I know I said only 1900, however my playthrough has railways connecting just about every one of the towns now, so its a busy map, as you can imagine.
cheers!
@Campbell Industries ; There are some full maps as you describe, but even the 6k+ amongst them struggle, in my opinion as a player, to capture the different regions in sufficient a scale as to be meaningful. I guess it's to each persons taste. I wanted a deeper experience and hopefully this map, for the regions covered achieves that.
@cromagnon2003 ; Greetings and many thanks. I use the BLS fences mod by SwissCH

The fences/hedges are treated as roads. Make use of the shift modifier to get them right where you want them trackside.
If I may, one -maybe stupid- Question:
Who did you manage to place the fences and bushes so exactly besides the tracks? Did you place each and evry bush and fens piece individually? Or is there some mod which aligns itself besides the track? I know of "a street" which can look like a row of trees... but do roads algin besides tracks? I experienced it only the other way round, e.g. tracks algining with roads :(
Many thanks in advance and Greetings from Switzerland!
Robert
I'll be watching for news on performance closely.
