@Willz, I have the blood_rome2.pack in my data folder and the option to enable it in the ingame graphic options so yeah, it's installed. I do have very small amounts of blood but nowhere near what the pictures of this mod show. Do you have that much blood?

@Praise_Lord_Gaben Thanks for the file. At the risk of insult, but only since this mod is working for me, are you certain you have the Blood & Gore DLC installed? I made the mistake of assuming that blood and gore would be part of the base game some time ago (silly me), and was surprised to find it required separate purchase. Anyway, thanks again for the file.

Fair warning: this blood mod does not work for me even with the extra file and all the correct settings. I never have any blood in game, no matter what.

@Owl How did you get it? I added the file in data and I have everything on ultra and the terrain on extreme, even so the new blood textures only come out very occasionally, I never saw anything close to the images in the mod, I followed the instructions to the letter

Followed the instructions but hasn't worked i only see a little new blood but never all the terrain with the new blood

blood in the ground keeps disappearing how to fix

for those struggling with it not working, you have to also subscribe to the parabellum effects mod, they use the same file so you'll know when the start up screen is for the parabellum mod, again you don't actually need the full mod, only the effects.

This mod is gnarly and I love it. For people saying it isn't working DL the mod, copy the mod from the Downloads folder and paste it into the data folder of Rome 2 . Programs86/Steam/ Steam Apps/ Common/ Rome 2/ Data. You don't need to extract with WinRar nor 7Zip its already gtg and made easy for everyone. Make sure you set graphical settings (terrain in particalur) to the highest setting. Some GPU's struggle with this, and you need a good graphics card to get the ideal mod working right

@BunnyPoopCereal how'd you get it to work? I droped the file in step 2 into the data folder and enabled the mod but my blood splatters look nowhere near as big as in the photos.

Nevermind, it works now I had to install the file in step 2 and drop it in the data folder. If anyone is playing with DEI make sure you follow the steps outlined in INSTALLATION

@ Phoque: This is an independent mod, although compatible with any other non-effects mods.

@ Guvenoren: Yes, it has always been necessary.

@ Joles: All my effects mods are based on the same core, so they are using the same movie file. But all these mods were updated recently and tested without such issue, and I have no similar cases reported since then, so I can only recommend a clean installation of mods to avoid any kind of content conflict you might be experiencing:

@ 不列颠钢铁直男: Try increasing the particles and effects in the graphics, also a mod like Ancient Combat or Para Bellum Combat may help.

is it possible to detach your blood mod from parabellum? I think a lot of players would like to use it without parabellum.

Hi, I was using that mod and was seeing starne artifacts for the fire on ground with the fireballs from the catapults. I checked the Parabellum-Effects mod as it said it has an own version of the blood mod. Now the artifacts are gone. Just thought I leave a reply here if that can be fixed for this mod as well. I will stay with the Parabellum mod only for now as the blood there is good enough for me ;)

Updated effects:

- Now you can spark the buildings with the incendiary artillery, and they will burn with big flames and smoke columns. In addition, depending on the material they can end up with a nice deflagration.
- The effects of artillery hits on terrain have been improved, with a new artillery impacts texture and raising dirt. Also the incendiary artillery effects on the terrain are improved, with the terrain burning, etc.
- The properties of many particles has been enhanced: now the blood will remain the whole battle duration; the smoke and fire effects, the dust raised by the troops, the desert wind or the snow in the blizzard, are no longer limited by the rendering distance.
- The dust effects now are adapted to each type of terrain (snow, grass, mud, desert).
- Volcanic eruptions on the campaign map.
- No FPS impact noticed, in comparison with the previous version.

IMPORTANT: This update requires to redownload and replace the Para Bellum - Effects movie.pack file of your Rome II data folder, available through the link in the Steam Workshpo mod description. It is required to update this file in the case you use any of these mods:

it works but the texture of the blood is so dark not what is shown in the pictures idk what ca did but the colour texture used to be much better thanks for your work

Rivers of Blood: gore edition I love this MOD, but I would recommend using it with a MOD that is faster in combat. Para Bellum submod-Faster melee These two mods are awesome to use together, this is real combat

In the cases where the mod is not working fine I guess is due to conflicts with other mods, because all my mods are updated to the latest game version, and in this specific case I installed Rivers of Blood in different rigs with different configurations (nvidia gpu + intel cpu, ati gpu + intel cpu and nvidia gpu + amd cpu). In such cases I only can recommend first a clean mods installation as you can find in the next link (be sure to get rid of previous movie files in your data folder which will lead to content conflicts), and then follow the description instructions: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/2010751524/4747300038104744049/

Can this work with DEI?

Maybe it's a simple thing, but it has helped me, so I hope it helps you too.

Subscribing to the mod alone is not sufficient. You also need to download the file from the description and place it in the data folder. Once you've completed that step, navigate to the main menu (where you select your campaign or multiplayer mode) and find the "Options" section. Within this section, there's a category labeled "Mods." Just check the two options there, and that should be enough.

If you're a veteran of this game, this might not be new to you. However, it has been helpful to me, and perhaps there are other newcomers like me who are unfamiliar with these options or the necessary file download.
