This mod was great. It's a shame it can no longer be played.
Also, I really appreciate the like, and I am happy that you enjoyed so many parts of the mod. I really hope I can find the time to fix that boss.
This is this annoying.
Don't get me wrong, this mod is amazing in quite a few areas; Level design, characters, story, but there's a major thing really dragging me down.
The boss. Now I know you put a lot of time into this, and again it shows with the dialog and custom models... but HOLY PECK, the fact that the boss barely drops any health makes this thing more of a frustrating attempt to survive rather than a cool battle! And even when it does drop health, the pons fall through the floor before you can even get them! A good way to fix this is, in my opinion, give one or two health pons to the players between each new phase? Each phase being when Subject S powers up, and then when it's trapped
I'm gonna give this mod a like because of how much work went into it, but there's definitely a few things that could use improving.
I will say I ran into a rather headache-inducing bug. When respawning on a level, it seems that if you jump into the portal instead of walking normally it completely freezes you. You can't move, attack, or change hats, so I ended up having to completely reset my progress twice before I realized what caused it (hence spending so long playing this).
All in all though, I've had a lot of fun with this mod, it's very impressive!
So do not feel bad about not being able to defeat it. It is just an old map featuring the first boss ever made for mods. (As far as I know at least.)
I am much better at making mods now, and have made multiple unreleased maps for other people. (Which I can not talk about since they are unreleased.) So when I finish my next standalone map, I may come back to revise the ending of this one.
(And maybe fix the boss which I have been told is broken?)
(As well as probably add in some sort of chapter select?)
The game only detects how many there is spawned in the world when the first one is picked up.
(It does not register the 15th in the crate and so it thinks there is 14 across the whole map.)
In the end, you found all of them. Those 2 more at the end might have appeared after an update or something, and are not supposed to be there.
I am happy you enjoyed the map though!
One minor issue I found was that on the stage before the boss, it's possible to get into Doctor Squid's room from above, but it's not possible to get back out of it.
Also, there is no need to collect every rift pon and storybook page. If I could let the player keep them I would. However, they are hard coded to reset on death. I have been working on more little cheats to allow the player to jump between levels until I can get an act select working.
( Though for now my attention is focused on my Halloween map. )
If the level was split into its own chapter with each gate being a separate act then it would be excellent, the story and levels would need reworking to accomodate the change but it would be an overall improvement as most of the frustrations people are having would be gone.
The compulsive need to collect every pon and page before finishing then losing them all due to dying on the boss being a major hurdle for myself... I just cant bring myself to go through the entire thing again to collect every gold pon and story page, I do appreciate the "cheat" you added to skip to the boss, but its just that, a cheat which leaves me feeling like I've not accomplished anything due to not having those precious precious gold pons and pages.
However, I used it to hold ominous and forboding models that watch over you. Badge seller was one, Vanessa too, and a model I found hidden in the game called "comb".
The only thing I know about him is that his texture is called the "Mole Ghost" and that textures that are strikingly similar are things called "The Bell of Judgement", the "Founder", and the "Founder Damaged".
My first thought was that maybe a Hat in Time was going to be much more serious, and he was going to be the villain? But then I found that he is also related to a complex set of Youtube videos for people to decipher.
(I think multiple other bugs with the boss fight were fixed in the process too. So it should run smoother than ever before! Probably...)
