This is working just fine. You should not use the in-game "incompatibility" notice as a measure of whether a mod works or not.

Is it possible to make barbarians settle a free city? Barbarians may have their settlers from civilizations.

Oh, so Free Cities are just added to the game, similar to how City States are added?

Does this mean that Free Cities can fight eachother?

@ruiza: Not at all. What this mod does is that should the Free City player found a city it gets one of the random names (like with HandyVac's mod) ... Otherwise, cities flipped to Free Cities and backwards are unnaffected name-wise.

So just to clarify this; when a city becomes a Free City its name changes? What if it joins a Civ? Does the name revert back to the old name, stick to the new name, or does it change because of the new Civ?

Ah, nice. Is it possible to limit their science abilities as well, since in HandyVac's mod the Free Cities spawn with archers and get crossbowmen an era earlier?
