Word of warning: if you plan to play the OC "Wailing Death" campaign you -need- to disable this mod. For whatever reason the mod seems to break some quests, quest-related NPCs won't spawn properly and break quests like the missing druid quest in Chapter 2.

I think it's the "Battle AI" component of this mod as it causes the AI to behave in weird ways; I used to use the henchman mod back in the day without issue but somewhere along the way something broke.

new installation, linux, this, CEP and beamdog high res pack. with this mod installed, my druids pet minion instantly flees any combat (even in the prologue), with <Danger> hovering above him...
what gives, and how to fix it? thank you

I love this mode but as a Mac user, I cannot install the mod manually. I have found the pathway where the mod is installed via Steam Workshop:

/Users/XXX/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/704450/1348348600/override

I want to use only henchmen inventory control option and disable the other options. Is there any way doing this with deleting the content in the pathway?

There is definitely a bug where when i combat they loose many bonuses like ac and attack

Subscribed, talked to my companion, no new options appear. The mod is not working.

Any idea? Does one have to register this mod in a different way than just subscribing to it? Thanks. All my other mods from the workshop work flawlessly.

Id really like to use this mod, however when my companion engages in combat, their Attack Bonus drops substantially. Tomi for example, had his bonus drop from +14 to +3 at the commencement of a battle, he also seemingly lost the ability to sneak attack.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, what is the solution.

Okay guys, so I ended up downloading this mod from neverwinter vault and installed it manually. I unchecked inventory control and Auldars improved henchmen. I think the Audar's is somehow bugged because now Tomi behaves much better. You lose the ability to upgrade henchmen but atleast Tomi won't be losing weapon finesse. So if youre having similar problems, try this one out :)

This aint working really, I told henchman to only use ranged weapons, it works for awhile but then he decides to switch to melee and charges to his death.

Within 5 minutes of using this it's completely changed the game for the better. In HoU my henchmen were useful only as targets; they didn't attack, they rarely cast spells and they usually just stood around even if I used the the command wheel to order them to "Attack Nearest". Did some Goggle-Fu and found this in the Workshop and subscribed. Absolutely changed the game; my henchmen now act the way they did in OC and SoU.

mod doesn't seem to work somehow. it worked fine when i manually installed it on the gog version, but the EE version on steam, not getting the additional options and cannot access the companion's inventory.

Hello...
I don't get that first screen with all of the options checked on or off. How does that popup?

When I move inventory around and such.. I save the game.. but when I load that game it will always crash. It seems I can't load any game that I have used this mod on.

I don't have any other mods for this game.

I have the Enhanced Edition.

Unfortunately the same thing has now happened to Tomi :S. he keeps running in and getting himself killed haha.

I have the same thing. Sharvin is either a melee, or you need to use someone else.

I'm having trouble forcing my companions to use ranged weapons, Sharwyn specifically. Even if I use her inventory to equip her bow, she still switches weapons and charges from across the map. When told to never use a melee weapon and to move away, she just keeps her sword equipped and runs back and forth, almost as if her AI is changing behaviour. Has anyone else encountered a similar issue?

I realized what the problem is. It Verdant Wilderness Override Pack mod. As soon as I installed it, everything immediately broke.

found this mod looking for a fix for the abysmal henchmen AI.
I'm using the thief companion (Tomi), which is currently lvl 5.
He went from +10 attack bonus to +4, because he loses weapon finesse.

I've tried installing this on a clean game, installing only the Henchmen stuff, installing only the Monster stuff, installing only the inventory stuff, installing only the skill/feat tweak stuff.

No matter what I do, all henchmen will randomly have their stats drop to all 8's, lose all bonus to attack, all their skills drop to 0 and lose all AC from dex, armor and gear. This is triggered in combat either when they attack or are attacked. It will randomly stop mid battle or after battle. It will be forced to stop if I change any equips on the henchmen.

I cannot for the life of me, fix this. If anyone has a solution for the bug, please let me know. Until then, this mod is unusable.

rangers companion seems bugged, he has the danger message above his head and runs away when enemy appears.

To Clarify, The "Danger" Bug - is a "soft-lock" for firmiliars when telling them to scout ahead, REGARDLESS of other dialog interactions and inspite of telling it to ignore danger, it will refuse to fight after being sent to scout ahead. Additionally I dislike that there is no option for "Recall Firmiliar" when dealing with this bug, as it seems awful one-sided to send them out to search but not have the ability to cancel the behavior.

From the Manual, for the people who didn't read it:

"1) In the Official Campaign, when moving to a new chapter, your
associates will lose all the items you gave them. Also in the
Official Campaign Chapter 1 Ending (Helm's Hold) and Chapter 2
Ending (Luskan), your associates will lose all items when leveling
up, because the modules have no level-up script. It is safe to
level up your associates in all other chapters.

Solution: before moving to a new Official Campaign chapter,
or before leveling up in Helm's Hold or Luskan, take back
all your associates' inventories.

Note that item loss is not a problem when the henchman dies.

2) The PC will be able to rob the Official Campaign henchmen of their
relatively powerful magical items early in the game. Exercise"

Familiars run away from the battle! I've used the options to scout ahead for enemies and engage encounters, but the moment someone appears, he puts on "<DANGER!>" over his head and runs away.

For anyone having trouble with vanishing equipment,
the way Henchmen work in the Original Campaign is there is a different version of the NPC (as in a separate NPC) for each level. This means that when you have them upgrade themselves they will become a new character with a different set of equipment. This is actually similar to the way the old Baldur's Gate games handled NPCs.

I'd recommend removing any items you don't want lost in transition before having them level up. It's not really a fault of this mod but just a quirk of the OC.

Great mod until I started having issues with it. At random times my henchmen will lose all their stats (they all drop to 8) and certain abilities will cease to funciton. With Grimgnaw his Monk AC bonus stopped working. I cant use this if it keeps ruining my henchmen.

Okay, so I wanted to get through chapter 1 as fast as I could. to get to chapter 2, so I over lvled a character in a different game and moved them to the main campaign. I got Linu as a companion and spent somewhere around 30k on upgrades for her. I got her fullplate, a flail. a tower shield she was a beast. and I'm looking at her now and I see her crappy banded mail. a large shield and a mace. And the gear I purchased is gone. I haven't got a older save. So I'm more then a little pissed about that. Now, How do I make it so they keep the items I give them after lvl up because I can't find it in the chat menu.

@Ashaleran In the Campaign, many of the default henchman items will slowly gain in strength as the henchman levels up.
Since this mod allows better inventory control, you don't really need that to happen any more.
By enabling the option to retain their items, they will never get free upgrades.

This mod worked with NWNEE or I thought it did because it actually broke some gameplay. you will lose certain quests because something has changed.

I love this mod! Had some trouble with henchmen not able to cast buffs I tell them too, but unsub exit steam then resub and works like a charm. I find this a must have. Great job @Eilanzer and look forward to more on this mod. :)

How do i activate the mod? i subscribet and downloaded is that enought? do i need to copie it somewhere? do i need to make a override folder somewhere and put the files in?

Working fine as of 12/04/18. We were surprised at the effects in our multiplayer playthrough, monsters started casting some dangerous and annoying spells and chasing us down more than before. Love it! Henchmen can still be a bit dense though.

Keep in mind you have to install some mods in the correct order, much like Skyrim, Fallout e.t.c for them to work properly. My current order is 1: Customize Character override, 2: Combat animations, 3: Henchman iventory and combat AI...then any models and textures overrides. User interface mods seem to cause some issues for those mods that add extra things to the UI, so i avoid them.
