i dont understand. just say me if i If I disable most of these cars in the asset manager, will I have less lag? because if I play with the whole assembly I feel lags

@knight mannn That's the effect you ran into? Odd, since LSM simply ignores exact duplicates of meshes/models/textures, so it shouldn't get slower doing less of that.

@The Loot It turns out that if I turn off most of the props, the lags will only become larger? I just know loading screen mod somehow converts large packs into small ones

Hey, B, do you still plan on updating your freight trains at some point?

Some of these cars could benefit from using submeshes for the TrailerVariation Loader mod. Random Train Trailers can set empty trailers using the method, as well, but sadly it's adaptive cargo method isn't possible to use for spawning the specific empty cars you've made; only the variations method works.

Could you make a extra long flatcar for large cargo? (i.e. Boeing's 737 fuselage train car, flatcars used to carry other train cars, etc)

@Chyawcolate - It definitely won't be too frequent for some trains, but on other unit trains (the coal, tank, lumber, etc), there would just be too many repeats to look good at all.

I'd love to have graffiti on these trains, but it would mean that every single type of a car (for example all Colossal Systems boxcars) would have the exact same tag, which I think is less realistic than not having any graffiti at all.

If a mod comes along that lets me do random submeshes or something like that so I can have graffiti randomize, I'll absolutely implement it as soon as I can.

@Detail You have to disable them in the asset manager, and only enable the ones you need.

They are great assets, but the packs are very large, I wish there were a smaller packs maybe a couple of each. Keeping control of the total number of assets is becoming more challenging by the day as more and more great assets come into the workshop. Often you just want a few cars to detail a siding vs the many that come in these packs.

The only thing these need is some awesome graffiti. That's my favorite part of being held up by a train.

@qazwax01 - The way that the submesh feature works ties each mesh to the physics of the main car mesh. If I had the main mesh set to the 89' autorack car, the 50' boxcars would have massive gaps between them, and if I had the 50' boxcars as the main mesh, I'd end up with longer cars clipping together.

Why are they incompatible? Can non-vanilla length cars not contain submeshes, or can we just not make a single train with different length cars?

@qazwax01 - The varying lengths of these cars make them incompatible with that submesh feature. I do plan on (eventually) making some trains that do support the submesh feature with Industries.

@saintkhawnan - In order to keep my workshop page cleaner and to accomodate the limits on items in workshop collections, I am only releasing the cars this way. SInce the cars are also set as vehicles, using Loading Screen Mod will half the RAM load, since textures are only loaded in once. You can also disable certain assets in the content manager and they will not be loaded into the game.
