You have to specify, otherwise people assume they're playermodels or vehicles or something and then complain that they don't work. Even if you do specify, people still ask. Because some people can't or won't read.

Late by over four years but here's the idea behind the drawers-and-desk crate: https://www.pelican.com/us/en/product/mobile-military-cases/field-desk/mobile-office/472-fld-desk-dd

I found a wooden "M1952" crate that works on the same principle of the crate lid being intended as an integral desk, so the basic concept is a fairly old one.

You can blame Garry for that, that's just the way ragdolls and ragdolled props spawn in Garry's Mod. Spawn them looking up at the ceiling or something.

Look on the left side of the spawn menu for the folder marked 'addons'. Open that using the little + button, then look for the name of the addon. After you click on that it's just like spawning models from the normal spawn menu.
