Theres conflicting description for builder distance:

-- Distance: A lower number will have the Builder factor distance into the decision more.
( 'Scoring', 'BUILDER_DISTANCE', 95 ),
-- For 0, the Builder will not care how far away a tile is, it will only go by the other scores above.
-- A higher number will have Builders factor turn distance and plot distance in more to what will be done.

I tried setting both to -95 and 95 and neither makes a difference it seems. Im trying to make distance top priority.

This looks exactly like the kind of mod I'd like, a bit of automation make 5+ cities more manageable. Looking forward to an update!

Hey everyone! I'm back with a freshly built PC and mentally ready to mod this game again.

Thank you to those who forked my mod in my absence to keep it available to the community! This was my biggest modding project in terms of sheer amount of code I had to write, and it won't be updated right away. I'm planning to make a new version with a new Steam page, and this time I'll have more feedback to work from! I'll post and comment a link once that page is created.

It now builds all improvements but Ski Resorts. I also fixed various bugs where the builders kept stuck trying to do impossible actions (e.g. lumbermill on rainforest and adjacent unique improvements).

There's another one that works. I don't have the link handy, but it says [FIXED] at the beginning of the header and it does the same exact thing.

In the apocalypse, one would need an additional to automate only repairs for a builder, in addition to the regular builder automation.

Okay, I tried the advice in the troubleshooting section and I still am unable to see the button to automate. Should I try disabling everything but this mod? It makes me sad to think I might not get this mod to work. I've ALWAYS automated my workers. I don't even KNOW what to do with them. Lol. Someone please help.

Thank you for wall of text explanations. I wish everyone else was that thorough. Are you able to make it compatible with the Sept patch for GS. @Cosmic Fox You said you were 64 in another mod comment, and honestly you sound 13. People make mods for others because we are not able to or cant be asked, and they are taking time out of their day to create them without getting payed. people also have lives of their own and they can choose to do what they want with their mods.

There is also the possibility that your comment is a troll comment because its so stupid and silly that I think it made me lose brain cells.

Second, you might want to reread the TOS here for mod. Any mod posted to the workshop you no longer own, anyone can do anything they want with anything that has been posted.

Yes mine as well, sad how people buy civ next series, they make a mod early on or so. They walk away from the mod leaving the people who liked it left disappointed. If I made mods I would keep them updated. After I lost interest I would tag it as DEAD NO LONGER SUPPORTED. Our world is about selfishness. Person like this thinks only of himself and not anyone else. When in fact it is about everyone each and every moment we live. Together we are strong, divided we are weak as the world is now in separate borders etc. It is so sad to see people running their lives this way. I too used to but I woke up. :steamfacepalm:

dang this was such a cool mod! my #1 favorite. I too am on the verge of trying to just learn how to make these myself! :D even if I could just have it do what the AI's own builders do instead of the vast prioritization options in MadManCam's mod that'd cut my turn time in half

Hehehe, don't get me wrong. my attempted "original" mod using ModBuddy / NotePad++ and whatever other software tools people have suggested along the way make my mod look 100% legit with ID codes in the right place [properly generated, etc.] The modfile looks like similar stuff that does work on other mods. It just fails. I've tried tutorials, etc. to do civilizations even [those were far more complex]

Use Notepad++ only it is a free program and the edits you do will work. ;-)

I have tried some really simple mods. I'm talking like changing practically nothing on one page simple. I still can't get THAT to work. I have no idea what I am doing wrong with a trivial mod. Best that i've been able to do is edit other people's mods with simple tweaks. I've not been able to do anything original or any major tweaks to other people's mods.

agreed, jswillis. I actually was hoping someone would develop an "automate any unit" functionality like in SMAC or previous civ mods. But even this would be fantastic. I don't have any coding skills to do this!

~ HetNess ~ As far as I know, the functionality.that this mod used to provide... is NOT provided in the vendor's code NOR in another modder's code. If there is a link to the contrary, a zillion other people would be grateful for that information. You would be heralded as a hero! In short, OBSOLETE is probably the wrong term to use here. Broken... yes... very definitely... and people are trying to band together to fix it as a loose group of users that would love to see it have new life breathed into it.

I'm a dinosaur at coding. it will probably take me a few months to a few years to learn LUA coding enough to tackle all the mods that are down for the count. lol
