@MacEnow, no problem at all. I'm glad it made the game more playable for other people, it sure did for me!

@Timrath, sorry but I don't think I have it in me to maintain this when the default game now offers an alternative that's just as good (subject to opinion, of course). UI modding is a major pain in Stellaris. You're welcome to make your own continuation of this mod if you want though. You can either publish it on your own and I'll endorse and link to it in the description or I can add you as a co-author.
tsconfig.json Dec 16, 2018 @ 6:06am
you have my thnaks, used for a very long time, 2.2 updates includes the "expanded" feature
Timrath Dec 8, 2018 @ 9:30pm
I much prefer this layout than the one that 2.2 introduced. Is there a way to keep this mod working in 2.2?
mettpawwz  [author] Oct 29, 2018 @ 1:41pm
Yeah, in all likelyhood I'll be retiring it in 2.2. Good on the Stellaris dev team for finally making the top bar buttons more accessible. :D
NoShotz Oct 26, 2018 @ 1:50pm
Looks like this mod won't be needed in 2.2, https://i.imgur.com/PwswCWQ.png

With 2.2 bringing new UI changes, I hope you can update this essential mod!
Joe The Eskimo Sep 14, 2018 @ 8:49pm
is this achievement compatable?
Lia Aug 1, 2018 @ 1:08pm
Does this work with the 1440p UI Overhaul mod?
Tactical Timmy Jun 4, 2018 @ 9:31pm
I just wanted to say this should really be implimented in the vanilla game how useful it is. Thanks for the great mod.
mettpawwz  [author] May 29, 2018 @ 11:17am
Okay, I've updated it and the issue with the music player being in the bottom right should now be fixed. Thanks for the bug report!
mettpawwz  [author] May 28, 2018 @ 1:06pm
@Furaigon, I'll look into it. I updated the version number before the new 1080p UI update was out so I didn't realize they'd be making any changes. It shouldn't be too difficult to fix it, but I may not get around to it until the weekend because I'm insanely busy with a new job I just started last week. Either way though, thanks for letting me know!
Lord Sam Sinister May 27, 2018 @ 8:09pm
I think the newest version of 1080p UI moved the music player back to the top right, but with this mod it's on the bottom right and upside down.
Kurim  [author] May 27, 2018 @ 12:26pm
Zoidberg, I agree but you only can use it with the modification ond the defines...
Zoidberg Jesus May 27, 2018 @ 12:24pm
I find it kinda odd that a simple mod like this would disable achievements. It doesn't effect gameplay at all, right?
aZmoDen Apr 27, 2018 @ 4:01am
Quick question, do the boxes that house the numbers of resources (specifically research, unity and influence) house up to the million digits? (7)
ie:
1234567
instead of:
1234
5 (or +5)
acideiffel Apr 18, 2018 @ 9:59am
Great work! Thanks
Kurim  [author] Mar 24, 2018 @ 7:36am
for a dark ui patch you must replace the currently existing dds files with the dark ones thats it, but since they dont exsist some one have to make them
Chastity the Celibate Mar 23, 2018 @ 4:58pm
Ok. Something to consider.
Kurim  [author] Mar 23, 2018 @ 10:00am
@xnadu,
you mean the buttons?
no currently not
Chastity the Celibate Mar 23, 2018 @ 8:50am
Is there a Dark UI patch
Xrona Mar 16, 2018 @ 12:44am
@Kurim, I was happy with the previous version. But yes, this version is perfect. http://ipic.su/img/img7/fs/20180315153403_1.1521185965.jpg
Thanks again)

Hi Xrona,

please check > https://cloud.asustreiber.de/s/H5icNH5fsqPjHzF

Should now nearly perfect

Hi Peter34,

ok I will continue my work on a double-row bar ;)

Check this > http://steamcommunity.com/id/kurim/screenshot/927052361576873414
Peter34 Mar 15, 2018 @ 9:02am
I think a double-row bar that fits on a 1600 width display (such as 1600x1200) would be awesome!
Xrona Mar 15, 2018 @ 1:59am
@Kurim, Thank you so much. So a lot better)

Hi Xrona,
can you please replace the main.gui with this one:

Steamfolder\steamapps\workshop\content\281990\1224291266\
Xrona Mar 13, 2018 @ 9:25pm
@Kurim, yes, permission 1920x1080.
Rescale feature - was the default value of 1.0.Tried to reduce to 0.9, but then the text becomes small and blurry.
Kurim  [author] Mar 13, 2018 @ 3:03pm
Ana,
I have check it in windowed mode @1680 / @1600.
I think there will be not enough space for adding more top buttons.
Only thing is you can rearrange them for lower resolution than 1920, thats all you can do.

Maybe like a 2 rowed bar, like this Example: https://i.imgur.com/8kRnZVJ.jpg

Sadly it require much more work, but if you like it i can take some time to make it ;)

Kurim  [author] Mar 13, 2018 @ 10:33am
@Xrona, you use 1920x1080 right?
Did you use rescale feature of Stellaris under the Settings?
Xrona Mar 13, 2018 @ 10:18am
@Kurim, I have such a problem http://ipic.su/img/img7/fs/20180313230234_1.1520961219.jpg

As you wrote below, I tried to remove the "traditions and expansion planner" myself to leave more room for other indicators.
Remove the values in " mett_top_bar_defines.txt and change the TOPBAR_BUTTONS value and uncomment the TOPBAR_BUTTONS_PRIORITY" was easy.
But when I opened the "main.gui", it was like nuclear physics. (@_@)
You can explain in more detail / show what needs to be changed, so that even such a fool as I understand?

(p.s. apologize for my English)
mettpawwz  [author] Mar 13, 2018 @ 9:25am
Heya @Flint, glad it's helpful! :D

@Ana, I'm sorry but I can't really make one myself since I don't have a smaller monitor to test it on, not to mention that when they add or remove new buttons it's a lot of extra work if I have to update and maintain several versions of the mod. Plus, on smaller resolutions there isn't enough space for all the buttons so I'd have to pick and choose which buttons are the most important ones, which is something everyone would have their own opinions on.

The only thing I can suggest is if you or someone else wants to try their hand at making a version of this mod for smaller resolutions, throw me a message and I'll happily explain what needs to be done. You can then upload your own version of the mod to the workshop and I can offer a link to it in the description.

Sorry I can't be any more help. Cheers!
dizzy Mar 13, 2018 @ 7:21am
A lot of people use the 1600 resolution size, whether its 1650x1080 or 1600x900 or 1600x1200 and there's no support for those resulutions. A lot of us dont like going up to 1080p because it makes the text too small and rescaling makes it fuzzy. Be nice if we could get a 1600 top bar like youve made. +1 anyway.
Flint Mar 13, 2018 @ 3:09am
This absolutely fantastic and is prob my most essential mod for any playthrough. Thanks so much.
Kurim  [author] Mar 12, 2018 @ 10:38am
@Spillik,
you can try it for your self open the zip file search for mett_top_bar_defines.txt and change the TOPBAR_BUTTONS value and uncomment the TOPBAR_BUTTONS_PRIORITY, reorder them and put it back in the Zip file.

It looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/sjYEths.png
Sadly you must also modify main.gui to get the correct size.
So it is a little more work, I'm not sure if it is possible to work with "if & else" in define to be more flexible
Spillik Mar 12, 2018 @ 10:02am
This is how it works on my resolution - https://i.imgur.com/cC5CVxG.png . I have 1280x1024, so 1600x 1200 be a problem with few fixes. You could make a version(I could make it to, but I'm too lazy) with less icons. Without less important, like traditions and resources - they a clickable by the icons of resources. Just thinking.
mettpawwz  [author] Mar 10, 2018 @ 8:02pm
@Peter34, I don't have access to a smaller monitor to actually try it, but my intuition is that it won't, since a lot of really annoying trial-and-error was necessary playing around with absolute coordinates to get everything the right size for this mod, and I don't think there's any way to dynamically adjust that to smaller resolutions (whereas on bigger resolutions there will always simply be additional space left over). You're welcome to try it and let me know what happens though.
Peter34 Mar 10, 2018 @ 5:59am
Note that the 1080 mod actually does work for screens narrower than 1920 pixels, such as my 1600x1200 screen, or screens with a 1650x???? rez. The point of his mod is to allow people to utilize the extra width from 720 down to the 1080th pixel.

But your mod won't work on my 1600 width screen?
mettpawwz  [author] Mar 8, 2018 @ 4:00pm
@BlackoutRanger, try this mod alone and see if it still happens. Also, just be aware that your screen must be at least 1920x1080, otherwise there is literally not enough space on your monitor to display all of the buttons.

PDX, has not added any options for dynamically resizing the UI in this game, which is why mods like the UI Overhaul 1080p Plus are necessary in the first place.
henk Mar 8, 2018 @ 3:31am
@blackoutranger

What GUI mods are you using?
BlackoutRanger Mar 7, 2018 @ 8:37pm
I keep getting it where the end of my bar is covered by the pause and speed overlay
henk Mar 5, 2018 @ 3:18am
For me it's working with Dark UI and 1080P mod + all the TINY mods. Thanks, i never understood why that bar was so empty.
mettpawwz  [author] Mar 3, 2018 @ 11:23am
Sweet, that would be amazing, thank you @Kurim! I'd be super grateful if you could send them to me, I'll update it right away :D
Kurim  [author] Mar 3, 2018 @ 9:25am
Hi Mett,
thank you for this wonderful mod :first_star:, I have make button reworked version for me and my frineds, if you like I can send you the dds and the modified main.gfx.

:azuki:
mettpawwz  [author] Mar 1, 2018 @ 5:53am
@DaveJaVous, unfortunately, there's no way to increase the number of top bar buttons displayed without editing the defines, which automatically makes it Ironman-incompatible :(
Thursday Addams Mar 1, 2018 @ 3:23am
I love this mod but is changes the checksum and so I can't use Ironman mode with it enabled :(
mettpawwz  [author] Feb 27, 2018 @ 9:16am
Cool @Divvu! Glad to hear it :D
Divvu Feb 27, 2018 @ 2:52am
Guess what? This mod and the 1440 interface APPARENTLY work together without a fuss. No need to change anything! Will post again if I find some issues while I play.
Divvu Feb 25, 2018 @ 11:19pm
Hi there, thanks for this mod, I just bought stellaris and on my 1440p screen the amount of wasted space in the UI is mind boggling. Atm the 1440 interface mod isn't updated but as soon as it is I'll post about any conflicts. Hopefully I manage to jury rig the two togehter!
THE RIDE NEVER ENDS Feb 23, 2018 @ 4:09pm
Ok, if i feel motivated to do it i will take another look at it and try to adapt it for my own use
mettpawwz  [author] Feb 23, 2018 @ 4:04pm
That's correct. This mod overrides the 1080p mod using the parenthesis character to give precedence, and I've just gone through with a Notepad++ plugin which compares two similar documents and highlights differences to copy over any changes present in the 1080p mod in the main.gui file to my own. I haven't really considered the possibility of not overriding the entire file. Every gui file I've seen in a mod has been a complete replacement (unlike most files in Stellaris/common/*), so I think that's the only way the game can handle it. I'm not 100% sure on that though, and I haven't done any testing.

Another thing if you're looking through my code. I think I got sloppy at some point and forgot to document every line I altered. So there are probably some lines without the "#mett: X" tag which are different. Also, the X corresponds to the original value before I changed it.
