As an aside, my friend mentioned that technically Yurt seems to convert stones into energy, since his ability is -2 stamina for crafting, and rocks cost 1 stamina, so every time you craft a rock, you lose 1 stone and gain 1 stamina.

That is an error that kicks out both the host and the any multiplayer players. I do not know what we are doing to cause this. The first time was pulling a hunting card and the second time was clicking the -1 Stamina, from what I can gather. (Third just happened, neither one of us were even in the game window at the time.) Unfortunately, I'm unsure of if this is an issue on your side or a general issue for Tabletop Simulator itself. Googling this issue does mention this occurring if you have mod caching enabled, but disabling it doesn't seem to change this from happening.

Yes the Harvest deck now I see that you need any kind of tool to draw from it, even hide armor for example.
In my mind it was gated behind Crafting 3 , thus I suggested moving it to Crafting 1, but apparently that already is the case, good show.

And yet it is still used with the Fire Dice which is also a main resource because it is needed to win the game.

I would argue that it isn't, but let's move on. Another way of doing it that came to mind was that when the deck runs out (smaller, safer deck maybe 4cards) you would shuffle in a new card, which would dilute the deck representing that you have to Gather from further away, potentially more dangerous and would make the Wood more scarce naturally, instead of the way it is now with the "magic" element of a fire that requires more and more fuel the longer it burns

@Khatis, PT2: Or just bring a Tribe member that starts with a tool (Cron, Nibna, etc) to get access to the Harvest deck early.

Although not efficient, Trade is a very good and reliable way to get Wood. This can be offset by picking characters that bring in a steady supply of resources that can then be used to Trade. There's also characters that have skills that help bring in Wood.

Or maybe you go about it a different way and build a tribe that focuses on getting FKP so you can rush the +1 Wood Fire Discovery to start. Or a crafting a Tribe to make tools like the hatchet easier to obtain early once the Crafting tier is unlocked.

This all to share some of the design decisions that I made and why they were made and to say that there are many ways to get Wood beyond just the Gather deck. Thanks for playing and discussing the game!

@Khatis, PT1: card counting is integral in the push your luck mechanic of getting resources, the smaller decks reduce randomness, help prevent unweighted resources gains (rolling the same number multiple times in a row) and promotes thematic game play in the sense that the more you get familiar with the decks (or the surrounding area) the better choices you can make on what action to do with what character. If you're not fond of the card counting mechanic, the character that shuffles the discard deck (Cron) actually helps mitigate this by giving you agency to not have to go through the remaining deck before getting access to those used resource cards.

Wood is deliberately scare as it's a main resource needed to stay alive. You also have the Harvest deck which grants more wood than the Gather deck.

Tools in general are how you offset the lower resource gains, so if you're having a hard time getting wood, focusing on Crafting early to get into the Harvest deck would be a good option!

Also as a fellow board game maker I believe mechanics that incentivise deck counting are not good (there even is a character that reshuffles the discard pile into the deck) , if this was my game I would replace the 8 card deck into an d8 chart. Once players would get aqainted with it, over time they wouldn't even need to look at it anymore, they would know that a 8 is 2wood and a 7 is 1wood and so on.

As for the "not enough wood from Gather" Maybe having the Axe(?) for +1Wood , be at Crafting 1 , would be a good start, and/or increasing the wood in the deck itself. And I would rework the Trade itself to be more dynamic, I can elaborate if you would like.

Anywho that's my take on it, I like the game as a whole, thanks for making and sharing it ❤️

Tried the game, the concept is great right up my alley, was very excited to try it out, but after dieing from the fire running out on day 6 something felt wrong, started calculating that you need 16Stamina to run through the Gather deck to get a total of 3 wood, which will not be enough from day 7. Weird..
And then I saw the Trade action, looked at the 18 resources I had, and now I see how the game is *supposed* to be played, you HAVE to Trade for firewood, which is unintuitive, gathering should be enough.

@badtiming220, Yes! They still gain MaxStamina when Discoveries are unlocked and they are Incapacitated and return at the end of the Morning Phase with 3 Health and their full Max Stamina refreshed!

When items are stacked (in stacks of 2), pressing ALT to view a zoomed image doesn't work (it shows the flip-side upside down); however, when the item is not stacked, it works.

@WiggleMyToes It does,There is a known issue if you're trying to Save a game and then Load it back up. It will reset back to Day 1 since the scripts state does not stay saved after loading the game back up sadly. If this isn't the case let me know and I'll look into it more.

@zelliger Yes, this is correct, you have to pick a color as each seat's UI is unique to its seat. This let's you scale and move the UI around for each player, but you have to be sat at the a color to be considered a player at the table and not a spectator.

For those missing the UI buttons. I just figured out that if you start the game as a host of a multiplayer game, you won't have the UI buttons. However, once you pick a color (other than the default white), they will appear. It seems the UI appears only after you pick a color.

Hi, in the Hindrance expansion rulebook it says the "draw a hindrance" card include one "Forage" and one "Gather", but the cards below are one Gather and one Harvest. Which is correct?

Fun game but maybe my friend and I seem to be missing something since 2 players does not seem enough to be able to gather the wood needed to stay alive. We always seem to die before day 5... Are we each supposed to control 2 characters or something?

@RAM, It does NOT! If you check the Death rules section, it lets you know there that eating cooked meat to revive a character overrides any eating restrictions they may have.

@RainingLeviathan Did you pick a color and sit in it? Each player seat has it's own UI that can be moved around and scaled, so it doesn't show any buttons if you haven't sat in a colored seat yet.

Would it be possible to add a counter showing the amount of wood in the Firepit, because when there are a lot of tokens in there it gets confusing really quick.

That's wonderful to hear. As much as I love seeing new stylistic takes, I really enjoy the original aesthetic you've crafted and would hate to have to mix and match components from different editions to get a full experience.

Hi Ice Maverick! The new Great Games version is only an aesthetic and component change, gameplay wise it is the same! That being said if new content does get released I will be doing everything I can to make sure my original version gets the new content back ported!

@Ieuan, Hi! Your friend is correct! Vog can take damage for another Character from a Danger! card, and when does that and has the Hide or Bone armor that have uses left, he may then block the incoming damage. It's powerful, but restricted by the number of uses per day on the Armor!

Hi, i played this for the first time a few days ago and it was really fun, but me and a friend have a disagreement about a certain characters ability, namely vog, my friend played him and had armor and he thinks he can take the damage and use his armor to block it, and i believe that he can only use the armor to block the danger cards he encounters while he can only choose to take the damage someone else would have taken.

This triggers once during the Day Phase only, so neither of your Situations are correct. If Mabe takes damage during the Day and that damage moves them to 1 or 2 hp, this ability triggers once.
