I tried all of your WW1 maps and I liked them, they have a lot of potential. However, I do have some constructive criticism for you to consider:
- All of your maps are way too big. If they were even half that size they would be much more playable. Trenches in WW1 were not that far apart (with respect to the ranges of the units). Trench warfare typically consisted of a man in a trench shooting at another man in a trench where trenches are available it is usually single side. With that much space between them enemies can easily walk around the defences. Cutting out the space between the trenches can help you scale down your map to a more reasonable size.
- Trenches and craters typically only allow units to face only one direction, they should allow units to face all available directions otherwise they can easily be flanked by enemy units. While I can see what you were going for, as you push an enemy back you should be able to use their own trenches against them. Fixing this aspect can give the map much more flexibility, making it more interesting and more challenging.
- Generally the attacker should be allocated a much greater budget than the defender. It is not a bad thing to give them the same budget as long as you continue to make both sides of the map equally defendable.
- Whether you are the attacker or the defender you are on the same side of the map. Also, you can't add AI as your allies or as extra enemies. If you can fix that, it will allow us to enjoy your maps so much more.
Overall I am very impressed with your maps. If you can make them more proportionate and pay more attention to detail your maps could easily be one of the greatest features of this game.
