@Dirkels Hallo. Ich habe schon das Projekt Big Airport 1.2 getestet. Zu meiner Transport Fever Stadt Oberhausen passt er ganz gut. Ich weiß aber noch nicht ob dieses Ding all meine Frames stiehlt.

I love this airport, its very efficient. The only improvement i'd like to see it is closer landings, not sure if thats tied to the airport of the mechanics.

dude you should try crossed runway airport, with central tram and railroad, and many bus stations delivering close to the gates. however you need to fix the for work work with other mods, i think the problem come in the codes you put, i have message, something like NO AVARIABLE ROADS Or something

Die Fehlermeldung: Die Terminals sind nicht korrekt,kommt nur,wenn man den Big Airport 1.2 auch aktiviert hat..Das ist ein Konfigurationsfehler in der Konstruktion.Wenn der Fehler nicht behoben wird ,kann man nur ein von den beiden Airports aktivieren.

@Dicapitano Just tried it myself in a new game and limited mods and have no problem at all so it must be that in combination with an other mod this happens, most likely a mod that changes roads. If you send me a list of mods you use we can figure out which other mod it is.

Yes. This is still broke. For some reason, the game will freeze and CTD after you build this airport.

Too bad. It is a very cool mod, and needed in order to speed up air traffic...

@Dirkels. It seems the mod is not working anymore after the performance upgrade. I get an error message and CTD.


Error Message says:

Construction configuration error
Terminals are not properly connected!

I think the real need is always for extra landing runways. The game is not very efficient in separating aircrafts in the landing pattern, so for a mega hub probably 3 landing runways would make more sense.

You would then have very scaleable options: single runway airport, normal two runways, modded 2-runways, 3-runways, mega hub.

@Dicapitano: Thanks for you feedback, currrently working on your SUPER-HUB airport, although currently only with 4 runways ( 2 on each side). Do you feel that an extra landing runway is realy needed? Also I was thinking about 4 bus/tram stops (2 at each terminal), 10 gates ( 5 per terminal) and 8 tracks in an undrground train station.

Tried 6 gates per terminal but that did not seem to work well together with the bus stops (terminals not properly connected error) it still functions but I geuss the distance between bus stops and far gates gets to big.

Suggestion for next mod: a two/three dirt runway airport than is available from 1935 to 1955. And a 2-3 paged runway airport that goes 1955 to 1985.

The one runway airports are far too limiting to develop any meaningful air network until the multi-runway ones become available in 1980. Would be cool to be able to build a hub airport with DC-3s and DC-6s flying in and out of it...

Also, a SUPER-HUB airport with many runways and integrated train, tram, bus stations from 2010 onwards...

With the (hopefully soon-coming) performance upgrade, you can take a huge map and build a really meaningful and profitable plane network conneting all the cities through a few major hubs.

Played again for a while...

... I think the mod now is at an ideal stage. With the extra taxing nodes the takeoff runway has way more capacity than the two landing runways combined. Even if you stop an aircraft just before the takeoff run, and let the airport be filled up, it will still quickly let all planes take off and go back to normal operations.

By far the highest capacity airport now. Two of these, one opposite the other, make a super hub airport with huge route coverage.

@senyoume: That was because the small road I copied to the mod to prevent other mods from changing it was set to appear in the roads menu, which should not be the case. I have corrected this in version 1.5.

@Dicapitano on your request I have added 2 more holding points on the way to take off, hope it helps. Remember that you have to update existing airtports before these points become active in save games.

Played with it a while.

Takeoffs queue still seems to be the bottleneck. If you could add 2-3 more nodes before the take off position... like the plane goes and lines up right behind the one that is taking off... that should help a lot.

@flyingdoc112: What you could try is to unsubscribe, try to see in new custom game if it is really gone, subscribe again and see if the problem is still there. If it is could you than send me the list of mods you have active?

Nevermind, aperently I undone the solution I made in V1.1 when I fixed the edge objects in V1.2. Just uploaded V1.3 which again should solve the problem with Sparky's Road mods.

Hi Dirkels, i still have the "Terminals not properly connected" problem with Sparkys road-mod although it should be fixed in version 1.2. I'm not using any other road mods so far. Any idea? I really would like to use your airport, it looks great!

This looks so much better then what they gave us, in the game. The in game airport has always had traffic overload from the start.. this should go a long way in removing that.. But the queueing system in the game is wonky i had a loaded plan in holding that was being passed by for age while other planes from a closer airpot were get straight shots no waiting.. rather they had passnegers or not.

Version 1.2 now has now better queueing of planes because I finally figured how to use edge objects :-)

Speed during taxiing; could it be faster to keep planes going etc?

Played with it over the weekend. I think you need some tweaks:
- Some more taxing nodes need to be added after the landing runways/before the gates. Runways get too full too quickly, even if there is a lot of empty space in between.
- You need a few more nodes after the parking gates. Currently the whole airport gets full & stuck very quickly because planes have to stat still at the gates until the previous plane has taken off.

Few tweaks above would increase capacity and efficiency, and make full use of this great design.

@Dirkels Thanks a lot for the update. Actually this explains another error I get with the High capacity road station mod. With Sparky's mod it only works with regular streets, while cannot connect with larger ones. Great work! :steamhappy:

Found the problem, the Sparky's Road mods replace the road used in the airports with a road that has higher sidewalks which leads to the terminals not connected problem. Fixed it in version 1.1 by using a different road where the height of the sidewalks is not changed in height by for mentioned mods.

To all that experiance the "Terminals not properly connected" problem, it seems to happen in combination with any of Sparky's Road mods. Have not tested all mods that change roads so other mods that change roads might give the same problem.

@Dicapitano,That error message is not related to the airfield mod as I've been getting the same one. It looks like it's related to the latest (in)convieniance mod as everything was working fine until that was installed. It's popping up with my cargo docks and frieght yards that worked fine the other day.

@Dirkets, as soon as you fix the runway issue and it's the next beta update I'll subscribe to this mod. :steamhappy:

Crashed my game as soon as I built the airport. It says "Terminals not properly connected". I have a couple of road mods installed. Maybe it's connected.
