Any chance of doing the M7 EMU?
bsquiklehausen  [author] May 6, 2024 @ 9:35pm
This model of train *is* electric (and third rail powered), but I would recommend RON or BVU rail tracks that include third rails, as I do not plan on a metro version of this asset.
CassieIrradiated May 6, 2024 @ 9:12pm
@taveraslucas299 if you only want this for elevated and ground metro, RON can replace metro station tracks with train station tracks, and you run the train tracks as normal. This model of train is diesel and in the real world could not run in subways.
taveraslucas299 May 2, 2024 @ 7:16am
Do you think you can make this into a metro version pleaseee
CassieIrradiated Nov 26, 2023 @ 4:15pm
If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you make a 4-car and 2-car version of this and the electric EMU? Many modded and DLC stations can't fit full-length trains

Awesome work. Any update on a potential prop version? I'd love to use it for my NYC build's West Side rail yard.

Hi,

Thanks for this. Could you please make the Metro North New Haven Line M2/M4/M6 version? I think these models are based mainly on Long Island Railroad practice, the LIRR had these with a blue stripe down the side but then removed them so that the side bodies were all gray. By contrast, Penn Central, then Metro North Railroad, kept the third rail only M1s and M3s with a blue stripe by the side, while the New Haven Line, which needed cars that could use both third rail and overhead wires, the M2/M4 and M6 cars for it had a red (really orange) stripe down its side.

If you included the colored stripe down the side, that could be made into the game's "line color" as well.

Thanks for this bsquiklhausen. I really appreciate the work you've done for us. :)

Do the M1. Its the same as M3 but without those front top head lights.
theb2blandlord Feb 25, 2019 @ 8:16pm
This dope. Metro North and LIRR. Do you have the prop version for the yards? Thx
ggghhj123 Aug 24, 2018 @ 2:00pm
Take this type of train to and from NYC everyday, the scenery looks exactly like this when I pass over Harlem.
Teddy Radko Aug 13, 2018 @ 2:39am
@bsquiklehausen Ok! I guess that means I can convert it too a MOM train with the train converter mod config file without sacrificing "vital" realism. It is a very nice asset and I can totally see it beeing used as a metro in my cities. :)
bsquiklehausen  [author] Jul 30, 2018 @ 11:47am
@Teddy Radko - Yep. Third rail electric. This isn't really simulated in game, but maybe someday we can get a rail network with a third rail.
Teddy Radko Jul 29, 2018 @ 2:30am
Im interested in how is this train is powered. I dont see any top caternary connectors and there is no obvious indication that it is diesel powered either (exhaust pipes and so on). Is it sort of like a typical subway train, being feed from rails adjacent to the tracks bellow?
bsquiklehausen  [author] Jun 26, 2018 @ 8:16am
@S.H.A.N. - Yes! They're in the pipeline.
S.H.A.N Jun 25, 2018 @ 8:01pm
Hey this train looks good! Do you plan to make Kawasaki Metro North trains in the future?
Breadboi Mar 18, 2018 @ 11:40pm
Sounds good. Thanks for the update. Love your Gramercy series; in fact, I check your channel almost every day to see if there's a new video. :3
bsquiklehausen  [author] Mar 18, 2018 @ 11:31pm
@MustacheFox - They're still on the to-do list, just waiting for a very boring afternoon...
Breadboi Mar 18, 2018 @ 11:06pm
Props? I love this train and would love to use it, but I make my rail networks as realistic as possible and always build a train yard when building a line.
AviatorX Feb 24, 2018 @ 8:40pm
I think do an M7 first because by the time the M7 is finished, the M9 might now be rolling out.
Velocity264C / Raptor Jan 17, 2018 @ 12:34pm
M7 and M8 one day, maybe M9 as well?
Nightblue77 Dec 25, 2017 @ 6:08am
How much capacity the train has?
Chris6d Dec 4, 2017 @ 6:36pm
Alright, I'll try it out. Thanks
bsquiklehausen  [author] Dec 4, 2017 @ 6:34pm
@Chris6d - also, I just pushed the update to fix the bug.
bsquiklehausen  [author] Dec 4, 2017 @ 6:31pm
@Chris6d - The error only breaks Vehicle Effects - the train and everything else in your game will work completely fine either way.
bsquiklehausen  [author] Dec 3, 2017 @ 6:24pm
@Chris6d - let me take a look at the Vehicle Effects file - it's definitely possible I missed something in there!
Chris6d Dec 3, 2017 @ 4:19pm
Error while parsing vehicle effect definition file(s). Assets will work but may have effects missing. Contact the author of the asset(s).

FINALLY YEEEES!!!
WORTHwhile Oct 25, 2017 @ 5:52am
nice modle man, love your trains! Are there any DMU commuter trains in the pipeline? Cheers
bsquiklehausen  [author] Oct 19, 2017 @ 11:36am
@chocolate - not yet but someday.
cloud Oct 19, 2017 @ 11:22am
@bsquiklehausen is there a prop version of this?
bsquiklehausen  [author] Oct 17, 2017 @ 8:47pm
@Brayden Bachlott - Yes, I do! M7s and M8s are both in the pipeline, though they may not be finished (or started) for a while.
Briggs Chaney Oct 17, 2017 @ 7:27pm
Nice! Are you planning on making a modern EMU train set (Metro North/LIRR M7 or M9) anytime soon?
bsquiklehausen  [author] Oct 17, 2017 @ 9:08am
@chocolate - this train shouldn't be considered as anything yet, unless the Train Converter author (I think BloodyPenguin) is really really fast. I believe there are also ways to manually add a single train to the conversion list.
cloud Oct 16, 2017 @ 6:25pm
@bsquiklehausen everything you said is correct but the part about the train converter is that I can use that, but this train is considered as a pantograph train for some reason, so if I do it, then all my pantograph trains convert to metro.
bsquiklehausen  [author] Oct 16, 2017 @ 3:33pm
@freshchris96 - prop versions of this are coming soon (TM), once I can think through a way to distribute them without making people have too many duplicates and also without them having do subscribe to a workshop item for every single car type.

The work train will come out once I do the next subway yard in Gramercy, which will have a couple more car types (garbage car, crane car, and maybe the welded rail trains).
bsquiklehausen  [author] Oct 16, 2017 @ 3:31pm
@djnellz215913ko - the M3/4/6 cars are interesting to me. It'd be a fairly straightfoward model to make, but it would require some changes to be made to the mesh/texture that would change some things like texcel density when compared to the very similar M1/3 cars. They're also no longer in regular service, so they fall into my big old usual excuse of "currently operating equipment only", which I have only broken so far with the steam specials.

NJT Arrow III cars are on my list of things to do as well, but they're definitely low down.
xProphet24 Oct 16, 2017 @ 3:25pm
can you make a prop version of this. also PLEASEEEE release the work train set already. been waiting months for it
Nellzinga Oct 16, 2017 @ 1:27pm
Will you make a Budd car based off of the M3/M4's owned by CDOT, or no?

Still an awesome model, one of my favorite commuter rail EMU's ever, along with the Arrows/Silverliners.
bsquiklehausen  [author] Oct 15, 2017 @ 6:27pm
@chocolate - Copy/pasting from earlier response: This is not a metro train in real life, so I have no plans to make it MOM compatible. I do have a whole host of NYC subway trains all made specifically for MOM, though, and if you really want this train (which actually makes some sense given its third-rail power), you can use the Train Converter mod with a custom cfg.
cloud Oct 15, 2017 @ 6:11pm
hey, can you make this be available for the MetroOverhaul mod
djantir Oct 15, 2017 @ 1:00pm
Oh my god! Yes! I was waiting for someone to make this model! Thank you!
Fez Oct 14, 2017 @ 11:52pm
Awesome! I've been waiting for someone to give us some Metro North stuff! I used to take it a lot.

Can you make this compatible with the Metro Overhaul Mod (MOM)
AmiPolizeiFunk Oct 14, 2017 @ 5:20am
nice one. anybody who has ever lived in NYC has been on the LIRR :medkit:
Streetlamp Oct 13, 2017 @ 3:18pm
Freakin awesome! I've always had a special place in my heart for the MTA, especially the M's! If you end up making an M2, M4, or M6 equivelent I will officially love you forever.
