Maybe combine the effects of permutation and duality? It can be a mod changing the Duality (your new sprite and your interesting effect (in addition to the old effect), but for an already existing item in the game).

I agree with Crimson for it being better as an item. I'd find it overpowered if the change wasn't permanent.

I feel this item is unique enough it gts to govern the rest of the run, once you get it you commit to this permuted run.

Trinket would bring a different mechanic though, so I understand the point of view, but I still think it's better as permanent change. Maybe if enough ppl want to a poll could be made to vote for popular demand =P

yeah, trinket would be better.. as item, you kinda screwed if want devil stuff but accidentally pick it up. Or change your mind.

Well it also applies if you get a Joker card and then earn the deal legitimately later. So if you wanted to wait on one of the items until you were sure if you could get away with taking it (or if you're pulling pro tier Keeper strats) the items would be changed when you came back. There's other reasons someone might get pulled out unintentionally, too. Like the mom hands that sometimes spawn in there, or dieing and using an extra life.

...I guess my main thing is that it's a really easy thing to fix. You'd just need to have a bit that gets set to 1 when the reroll happens, and reset to 0 at the start of each floor to keep people from going back and forth. Fixing rerolls from other sources is trickier, but could be done if you had a way to chack for other events rerolling the items and then rolling the items again into the appropriate deal types when it detects one. The really hard part would just be in making the script lightweigt enough not to affect preformance.

So...I've noticed a fairly major bug with this item. Or rather, with how it functions. Specifically that the function is called when the player enters the room...and EVERY time the player enters the room. This means, first of all, that if you reroll items in the room, you get items from the original item pool, not the altered one. Secondly, it means that if you have an item like Goat's Head or Eucharest to keep the door open when you leave, you can get infinite free rerolls (using the changed item pools) by just leaving the room and coming back. It even rerolls items not from a deal, like if you get the Quarter out of a pot.

I've run into the item again and it works as intended, all I did was disable/enable mods again, might be just a weird bug.

If you have trouble with the mod, just uninstall anything that ♥♥♥♥♥ with the angel or devil pools ;)

Weird, the item didnt work for me either. Im using a lot of mods tho. Perhaps on of following causes a conflict: Angela, Angels Drop Items, Sanael, Satanic Ritual. The item idea is really cool tho. +1

@*crimsonY Actually, I just re-enabled them all and tried again. With them disabled AND enabled, I'm finding that the item only actually works if you spawn it. Every time I've gotten it through a deal with my testing it hasn't worked.

What was your other mod, I might have it as well, and quite frankly I prefer this one to work.

Why would I spawn it? I picked it up in the devil deal, next devil deal gave me, you guessed it, a devil deal.

Yep, I got it out of a devil deal. The effect didn't take place throughout the rest of the run.

What do you mean its not working anymore? The effect only works if you pick it up not if you spawn it

I agree with KeviNOlighT - I feel like the effects are far better suited to a trinket, unless you were to implement additional stats benefits along with its main effect. Another idea could just be a boosted chance at a deal per floor. Cool idea though!

Do the angel statues in the devil room drop key pieces?

Great idea, but isn't the effect too niche to be a pedestal item? Shouldn't it be a trinket? Or maybe it should give you something extra like other items do, some related stat up.

It could give you 3 soul hearts so you have a better chance to get a deal or, like, 2 soul hearts and a tears up.

It could also give you a different stat up (or some effect) depending on whether you took a devil, angel or no deal before. It could complement your previous choice by giving you a tears or health up if you've taken a devil deal before or a damage up if it was an angel deal (not big stat ups, just moderate/small ones. Maybe if you haven't taken a deal, it could give you both, or both but with a weaker effect).

Just some ideas I thought could be fun, if not too much of a hassle to implement.

Also, is this a devil pool only item? Cause I can see it fitting pretty good on the shop for utility purposes. Or even on item rooms if it had additional effects.

But angel deals are easy to get... Miss the first devil deal and take the angel room. Done. Nice mod for late-game though. Different.

+Ripper this is a much better Duality, it allows you to get angel items without having to get a angel deal and get free devil deals from angel rooms.

An idea for the art would be to swap it to where the dark side of the cross is on the holy side, and vice versa. Sounds like a cool idea though.
