Any updates on a mod version? Would love to have this in addon format so I don't have to depbo and repack missions, this is a great alternative to TFAR/ACRE for linux players.

Hey @Phronk been looking at this mod. so a few questions on the subject. i know you might get this a lot so i will apologize in advance given i just skimmed the comments. so first question is if i wanted to use AFAR can i use this on other maps thats not the demo pbo file say for example i use malden , or a custom map mod within can i still use it as a script? 2: would there be a update down the line where its more user friendly for people who aren't that hands on in scripting within arma 3? and 3: do you plan on future continued updates given that your last comment was 2017 and this has not been discontinued without announcing it.

Would be nice to have an option to disable channels on the map markers. For example I want to disable text chat and map markers for the side channel. Thank you!

is it possible for there to be a way to hear 2 channels at once, i think thats the major hold up that the heavier mods still have.

@kiba3x : As stated on the forum and previous responses, the script will work as long as CfgRemoteExec is not defined anywhere in the mission.

@EdisonFall : Sounds like the Description.ext does not have the code initialized; make sure it's the same as the demo mission and the file paths are correct -- for example, don't put the AFAR folder inside another folder within your mission.

HI Phronk. loved your insurgency mission,. Trying to get this radio script working in my mission, but it says i'm missing the AFAR UI, I've copied the folder and the script from the int.sqf and the Description.ext. is there something i'm missing?

@SIRYABASHAR : "AFAR" is the acronym for Addon-Free Arma Radio, which is the name of this script. I never heard of a mission saved as a text file, so I'll go ahead and say it is not compatible.

I don't really understand what "AFAR" is, but the problem is that the mission deletes all scripts and loads a small text file already with a saved game. I have no idea how to put the script in there.

@SIRYABASHAR : Not sure what you mean. If you're asking if it's compatible with Antistasi and saved progression, it's pretty much compatible with any mission you install the scripts into, unless the mission has CfgRemoteExec defined. (Deleting it will let scripts like AFAR work properly)

Hello, I want to install the script on the server, but we play in the 'Antistasi Plus' mode, where the saves are loaded in the game. How can I put it there if there is no mission and save?
Will there be a mod in the future to simplify?

@Thatch : Thanks; to my knowledge, it is not possible to have a composition contain scripts -- especially since this one requires the "Description.ext" ( One of the main script files in a mission ) to #include the custom sounds and UI code.

Haven't had any input on the test version on the forum, so moving forward with finishing up with small tweaks, bug fixes, and optimizations. Will also finally start building the scripts into an addon, which will be released separately. I'll post an update in the comments as well as in the description once it's ready.

After cycling between channels I can't go back to the Direct channel. Is this intended or am I missing something?

@Junkey : There is no way to add a custom channel, just the ability to rename the custom support channel that I added. It'd be too much code to add more channels and functionality to it.

I Haven´t seen a question on this:

Is there a way to add custom channels

For Example and Arty Channel ontop of air?
Without massive modifications to the scriptwork ofc.

Been trying to figure that out and haven´t found anything in the readme about that or a way to add more channels.

One more step for mike-force installation inside the init.hpp inside the configs folder you should remove "// sound configs
#include "sounds.hpp"" and save it other wise you get a CfgSounds already defined error

@Predator14 : It hasn't been in the script for years, but the UI pop-up radio can be turned off in the settings file and the in-game radio options ( Accessible in the radio UI, the "Opt" button )

@MacHawk-Down : Any mission that defines "CfgRemoteExec" in their Description.ext or anywhere else will break AFAR, since CfgRemoteExec is a security measure a lot popular missions add to restrict script kiddies by limiting commands/functions that can be remotely executed, but it also effectively blocks AFAR. Simply remove the entire code block for CfgRemoteExec and it'll be fixed, won't break anything.

@Thatch : I released another test version on the BI forums, you can try it out there if you'd like.

@Thatch : Current top focus is fixing a bug that breaks the "r_dn_" and "r_up_" variables which toggle whether the PTT key is down/up. Can be reproduced in several instances, so I'm working on it, no ETA since it has been months trying different fixes with no real solutions yet.

@LSilva : That's an older version of the radio script, the newer one should not have that bug. It doesn't break anything though, harmless error.

@Helg_Mitr : Restarting a mission might cause that, but a fresh server restart should not. Don't know what'd cause it.

After restarting the server, the script stops working correctly. The walkie-talkie interface disappears.

I found a error: Variable "r_dis" does not suport serialization and should not to be stored in the mission namespace.

Still loving this, but sadly still have having the issue where if I use it in a vehicle the radio sounds stop working until I respawn, dropping the radio and changing to channel doesn't seem to cause the problem
