The XCOM 2 SDK, comes with good documentation. If you already have it downloaded, take a peek in this folder "Steam\SteamApps\common\XCOM 2 War of the Chosen SDK\Documentation" There is are segments on soldier customizations, character props, as well as character shaders.
When starting, I recommend exporting the textures for some of the base game armors that have the look you want to replicate. That way you can see what color values give you the results you want. I'm not sure if I remember correctly, but the most important reference textures would be Albedo (base color map which are the RGB colors), Metallic (Grayscale texture), Specular (Grayscale texture).
I'm a bit rusty on the specifics, but hope this helps!
Can you provide me a direction where I can start to mod the original helmets and masks?
Do I need to paint the textures myself, or there is a workaround, using some procedure generated materials like in Blender?
War of the Chosen
NOT war of the chosen!
NOT WotC!
I wouldn't say it's necessary , but keep it mind if you run into problems with 2k's launcher and that game.
No. I'm using two separate installs of the AML, one for XCOM 2 and one for Chimera Squad.
Don't use 2K's launcher, it's fundamentally broken. Use the excellent Alternate Mod Launcher [github.com] instead.
Is there something I can do to remedy this? I'd love to try the helmet and gasmask out.
I was wondering, if you are still modding... Is it possible to create matte T3 weapons to go with the armours? (Especially that annoying shiny heavy weapon on the W.A.R. suit.)
All the other stuff in this pack should be usable on both genders.
I used the trick you mentioned and was finally able to see all the helmets. The 'worn' variants are great!
As a workaround, you can force the alternate materials to load by mousing over a completely different helmet, then move the cursor to the right and then over the variant you want.
I really don't know what causes this, as the materials work but for some reason the game doesn't like to swap between variants after the "Tactical Legacy" pack. Something was changed in how variants are handled there.
Not sure if torso pieces count as "smaller props" (actually they almost definitely don't) but I do feel that plated armour seems to get ignored. There're huge number of props for kevlar, a lot for powered, but next to none for poor old Predator armours.
If that's too much with all your other commitments then no worries. I absolutely love what you've provided already. It's permanently in my modlist.
Awesome update.
If I quit the customization screen completely and then go back, the correct version shows up as the currently selected one, so all the different options still work, but browsing them is a bit annoying.
Sorry if I don't make any sense, this is quite difficult to describe. :D
By the way Jsleezys make hands for tier 3 gear(make shoulders more cube) and it's really good looking with your armor
But yeah, definitely a good effort on the helmets. Subscribed.
