yo so I figured it out, it won't appear in the launcher menu unless you UNSUBSCRIBE from WOTC version of this mod
Villager Nov 9, 2024 @ 10:59am
for anyone who wanna use any of mod but not seeing it enabled; you need to enable mods on 2k launcher. i thought my mods arent working until i had to enable with that launcher.

how to get the menu up
Catspeare Jan 15, 2024 @ 7:05pm
excuse me sorry to be a bother but the mod options button in the options menu isn't appearing.
guby  [author] Aug 10, 2022 @ 12:54pm
This is probably a side effect of the mod being compiled for cross-compatibility (see the "previous version" patch notes). Is the 2K launcher preventing you from starting the vanilla game with this mod active?
Buddy ☩ Aug 1, 2022 @ 7:20am
I am not sure why, but like others have mentioned. The 2K launcher is showing that WOTC is required to use this version of Mod Config Menu
Kyrox May 23, 2022 @ 1:50am
Hey Guby. It's either Perfect Information, or Gotcha Again. But those two add-ons don't really play nice and I had to do an override anyways. I'm now just doing a light vanilla-ish playthrough of Xcom 2 without WotC and have been learning a few things about modding.

Everything over here works good. Just can't open. The menu at all. The view defaults to perfect information I think, so maybe that's the problem. Either way it isn't a big deal.

Love your mod.
guby  [author] May 22, 2022 @ 5:08pm
Hi Kyrox, the white/green/pink flashing textures are most likely due to a mod that uses MCM, not MCM itself, and it's related to using MCM in a specific way that causes the game engine to not handle loading into/out of missions properly. One of the later bug fixes in MCM was specifically meant to reduce the chance that a mod can accidentally do this, and both versions include the fix.
Kyrox May 22, 2022 @ 6:24am
Mod is for vanilla non-WotC. If you are experiencing odd graphical bug white green/pink flashing textures it's due to the following.

You cannot open the mod config window at all, and play. Open the mod config window, make your changes and set everything up exactly how you want things.

Afterwards, exit the game completely. Upon reloading the game, DO NOT OPEN the mod config menu.

Whenever you open the mod config menu, you have to restart the game completely or you will suffer flashing textures.

This is from my experience anyways,

mod does not work unless playingt WotC
guby  [author] May 12, 2021 @ 12:37pm
Hi Alchemyst, in most cases, if it's the green and purple flickering graphical bug and it's just MCM and a mod using MCM, it means the mod using MCM is using it incorrectly (the mod may be holding onto a reference to a MCM component after the mod-specific settings UI was closed). Short of debugging it directly, the usual workaround is to make your settings changes and then restart Xcom 2, then get back to playing.
Alchemyst May 12, 2021 @ 11:39am
Hi.
I can confirm a conflict between MCM and Grimy's Loot Mod.
I ahve encountered the green and purple flickering graphical bug.
I have tested with only those two mods activated and regardless or wether having visited the options screen.
Hope it helps.
guby  [author] Sep 8, 2020 @ 5:37pm
gm372hh: Do those mods actually use MCM? If they do but the menus aren't showing up, try the steps here: https://www.reddit.com/r/xcom2mods/wiki/mod_troubleshooting
HeeHeeMan Sep 7, 2020 @ 11:13pm
guby, you're the best!
gm372hh Sep 6, 2020 @ 6:02am
Hey guby, I can,t see any mod config option when I click mod setting button in game, but other mods still working. How should I do to show all mod option in game?
guby  [author] Mar 4, 2020 @ 7:12am
Hey Dobrognev, in general the missing button is an issue with mod loading, which is usually fixed by resetting the mod list the way I suggested below. If that doesn't work but one of the two versions consistently gives you the buttons you are looking for, I would recommend just sticking with that one. The code is nearly identical so you aren't missing any features.
Dobrognev Feb 26, 2020 @ 12:17pm
I join the previous commentator.
I have the same problem.
There is no button in any of the menus.
The list of mods is similar.
In the version WOTC everything works with the same mods.
Kolodoori Jan 16, 2020 @ 10:18am
Hey guby thanks for your support. rebuilding XComModOptions.ini didnt work.
Could you check my mod list shortly pease?

Any idea which one is conflicting? Is it possible that a inactive mod is conflicting?
guby  [author] Jan 15, 2020 @ 2:57am
Kolodoori: to rebuild XComModOptions.ini, just back it up somewhere and delete it.

The "reset current mod" button makes me think that you have some other mod mixed in that is conflicting.
Kolodoori Jan 12, 2020 @ 12:35pm
Hi. It looks like the mod is not working for me. I cant enter the mod settings because the button "Mod Settings" doesent appear in the menu in game and neither in the HQ. Instead appears a button named "reset current mod".

I rebuilt all the config data and it still didnt work. Any idea how to solve this problem?
Read something about rebuilding XComModOptions.ini... How do I do that?
guby  [author] Nov 16, 2019 @ 4:34am
Hey Okuyasu Nijimura, I can't tell you whether those two mods will mess with each other, but in your case I'd recommend using this version and not the WoTC version of MCM. I won't promise that this version will always work with WoTC, but it currently does.
Aeronaut Nov 15, 2019 @ 2:35am
I'm trying to sub to a music changer that requires a music system mod, but the music system mod itself requires this mod. The music system mod is an old one meant for WoTC but the actual music changing mod that requires the music system mod is compatbile with both WoTC and Legacy. Will they screw eachother up?
guby  [author] Mar 10, 2019 @ 4:59pm
Mr. PAPAGIORGIO, what mods do you have activated?
prokolyo Mar 10, 2019 @ 10:01am
I've played about 5 LW2 campaigns with this mod (and over 100 others) without any issues whatsoever.
TyrantLyzardKyng Mar 10, 2019 @ 9:25am
This is crashing me right after the intro logos/loading screen upon booting up the game. Before the game can display the main menu (goes from loading screen to blackness and stays there) it crashes.
prokolyo Mar 10, 2019 @ 3:46am
Yes.
Shavy Mar 10, 2019 @ 3:35am
lw2?
Sneaky Jan 15, 2019 @ 2:39am
deleted the file, and the button still is not showing up :(
guby  [author] Jan 3, 2019 @ 2:27am
Praestan, any chance you have the other version downloaded but disabled?

Otherwise, try deleting your XComModOptions.ini file in your My Games\XCom\XComGame\Config folder. This will likely reset your mod selections in the launcher, but it tends to fix the issue with the menu not showing.
Praestan Jan 2, 2019 @ 8:49am
the mod just doesnt appear for me. not sure why. i have the main game and dlc installed but im only playing legacy for now. idk if that affects this though
prokolyo Dec 9, 2018 @ 6:28am
*a month
prokolyo Dec 9, 2018 @ 6:28am
Thanks. I thought to use it and then unsubscribe in order to prevent potential problems, but I've had it for couple of months now, and no problem with LW2 :)
guby  [author] Nov 8, 2018 @ 6:09am
Hey prokolyo, how the settings are actually saved is handled by the mod you're trying to configure, not MCM, so no guarantees, but mods should be keeping their settings even after you unsubscribe from this one.
prokolyo Nov 7, 2018 @ 8:14pm
*and theN unsubscribe
prokolyo Nov 7, 2018 @ 8:13pm
Question: Say I subscribe to the mod, change whatever settings in several mods in-game and the unsubscribe to the mod. Would the changed settings remain changed, or would they revert to default? Thanks.
WarmongerPhoenix Oct 25, 2018 @ 12:10am
Okay the problem most people seem to be having is the ini thing... walk me threw how to back it up, delete it, and have it be rebuilt. I don't know what you me by back it up and when I delete it nothing happens aftwards even if I uninstall and reinstall your mod.
Albertine_Crowley Oct 24, 2018 @ 6:28pm
Thanks ! I love your mod.
No bug with pther mods, its perfect.
Morale -10 Oct 21, 2018 @ 10:47am
Okey, the issue is that the mod menu is very confusing where as when you need to enable a setting more mods that use "Mod Config Menu Legacy" as a tool for their users to have more options than to change settings within files. To uncheck the check that are going against common norms were we more than likely fill the box with your pencil on tests it than to removing it with a eraser.
I wasted a tone of time trying to figure out why a mod where not responding, when the real issue where behind this menu mod...

P.S Otherewise it was working fine and hopefully I came out as polite.
guby  [author] Oct 21, 2018 @ 4:34am
Sorry [Red]Moon, I'm having trouble understanding your questions. What are you asking?
guby  [author] Sep 30, 2018 @ 3:57am
Hey ppxasfqk, you are correct that if you want to also play the base game, you want this version.

The black screen and CTD might be any number of things. Interactions between mods can get funky. Have you tried deleting the mods and re-installing them? Also, since you are using LW2, have you tested MCM on a fresh LW2-less installation? Since LW2 is a highlander, its interactions with mods are a bit different.
ppxasfqk Sep 29, 2018 @ 1:55pm
with WotC installed, do I need this version or the WotC version when I want to play the base game with mods like LW2. And it seems this version keep causing black screen and CTD before the "start, load, option and etc." scene even when I uninstalled WotC.
guby  [author] Aug 7, 2018 @ 3:02am
Hey Benis Face, have you tried backing up XComModOptions.ini and deleting it to force the launcher to rebuild it? It seems like that usually fixes the problem.
Not Scarlett Aug 4, 2018 @ 7:27pm
Hey so i have this mod installed and am currently running it with LW2 but do not see the "mod settings" page inside of my optins and i do not know how to fix it. i have no other mods that would intervene with this one could someone help please
guby  [author] Jun 30, 2018 @ 3:36am
Hey wolfiecanem, are you saying that the game is freezing, or just that you see the mod settings page but there are no mods listed? Also, just to get the obvious questions out of the way, are you also using any mods that use MCM?
wolfiecanem Jun 29, 2018 @ 4:40pm
Hi there, Guby. I've recently downloed Xcom2 (and all of its DLC and WoTC), and have subbed to this mod. It appears in the mod list before lauching, and the 'mod settings' button is there in the 'options' menu. But, after i clicked the button and the page fades to the 'mod settings' page, theres nothing there. completely blank.

Please help. Thank you.
Warmach1ne32 May 19, 2018 @ 8:45am
@guby, I edited some LW@PerfectInfo and that causes the glitch And won't display the name of my soldiers and the number of HP they have only the basic health bar rectangles and that is it. I didn't touch GotchaAgain but it didn't activate either. However when I load that save file after I exited te glitch is gone but the PInfo additions didn't appear on my soldiers.

Flanking aim Bonus I changed from +20 to +30 and the same thing happened as with when I edit PInfo after I delete the XComEngine.ini in the documents as recommended in the Official LW2 page and verify game files in properties.
AnikiSnek May 19, 2018 @ 5:47am
Thank you, the second option helped me out
guby  [author] May 19, 2018 @ 12:36am
Hey Knowledge, a few things to check:

(1) Do you have both versions of MCM installed? If you do in order to play both versions of Xcom 2, uninstall the WotC version, this version should work for WotC.

(2) If you just have this mod installed and it's not working, try backing up XComModOptions.ini and deleting it to force the launcher to rebuild it. It seems like that usually fixes the problem.
guby  [author] May 19, 2018 @ 12:33am
Hey Warmach1ne32, yup, ok, 99% sure I know what it is now. One of those mods has a bug in how it uses MCM. If you play around a bit, is it one specific mod where if you make changes to it, it'll glitch?

The workaround is to just restart the game after saving your changes. There's something I could do on the MCM side to deal with the issue, but it's unfortunately a pretty complicated issue that's much simpler to fix on the side of the mod that uses MCM.
Warmach1ne32 May 13, 2018 @ 9:01am
@guby, If I change nothing, it works fine. When I make specific changes, it does glitch.
