All fitting historically onto the map of Greece and Aegean sea (background is that i apply the mod which allows only mod CS and also the mod which disables settlers).
This Greek CS modding could be a modders resource in future, just in case it's allowed to offer a dl link (or just if permission is necessary and granted by MC).
- I can verify that MC's Greek Split mod applies RED's, but not from Ethnic Units pack.
- Thebes mod does not apply RED's, at least not at scenario start, the warrior. Any idea, if spearmen etc. using RED's skins`? Esp. Thebes should not use the generic vanilla clubsmen while its neighbors use proper Greek warrior skins.
- Other Greek civs, which i have in usage for the scenario build, upgrade is still in progress, so i have not checked RED's usage for them, but i experienced that all of do not apply skins from the Ethnic Units pack, as far as i can say: DMS Epirus, MC Thrace, Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations (here using Illyria, possibly also Dacia), Lydian Empire, Persia Achaemid Empire (Xerxes), MC Minoans (edited, using as "Knossos").
- Other experiences in this relation?
I must say now, Civ 5 is nice to play, a less stressful strategy game (but for me, much much too heavy unrealism content, so i have to use a lot of mods and edit diverse files, thanks to you found a wonderful map as base), fe. very very stable, what one cannot say from all such games ;)
However, this hasn't any incidence on the map while playing, in fact, mountains graphisms depdn on the "continent" where they are (in civ V there are four base graphics : Europe, Africa, America and Asia, terrains textures and appearance depend on their continent) So due to that, in Chios picture for example, you can see snowy mountains from european graphics in Chios island, and rocky mountains from asian graphics at the right, in Anatolia (forests don't look like exactly plus, for example)
So I put these european snowy mountains only because of the fact that Greece is a european country, so I used the european continent textures, thus it's more a design choice (and I love european textures so :) )
Ontopic question: Why did you choose snowy mountains (and not the tundra texture)? Design choice or simplification or ancient geography and climate research, or still something else?
Wait, looking at your preview pics the second time, do you use a mountain texture mod?
I really wonder fe. (because civ 5 is that old now), why there are no 3d building model replacements and additions for the proper Era playing. I researched all over the place.
What angers me most atm. is the Citadel model ... a Renaissance/Barrock period art ... wtf? Lol.
Just in case, anybody has tipps to replace that, please leave a not here (because here i will look most often, atm., as go into subscribed mods at first to let out my comments).
Please forgive my rant, as it has nothing to do with your awesome map work ;)
@Αριστομαχος, for Anno domini, I had no problem, but it is a very heavy mod, so it generally doesn't appreciate other mods running at the same time (confloict error), and in worldbuilder, make sure you loadded it with anno domini mod (base mod + art files + cities in development + a set of civilization) and taht you put in the map the civ added thanks to tyhe mod (as Anno domini is atotal conversion mod of civ V, all base civilizations will be "unactivated" by the mod)
No more stupid unrealism vanilla civs and city states appear there!
Would love to add still Illyria as civ north to Epirus, east to Macedonia, or better as city state, cause as civ they might become to powerful (ahistorical). I would be interested how one can create such a city state mod.
1) DMS' The Kingdom of Epirus (v 7)
2) Lydian Empire (v 2)
3) MC's Greek Civilisation Split (v 2)
4) MC's Minoans (v 3)
5) MC's Thrace (v 2)
Gameplay
6) Buildings - Upgrade System (v 12)
7) City State Removal (v 1) ... removes all vanilla city-states, must-have for the scenario! Not sure now if i have no. 14) active instead.
8) Civ Specific Wonders (v 1) ... edited
9) Eras - Ancient Age (v 14) ... edited
10) Fewer Active Religions (v 1) ... edited: only 1 religion
11) Greco-Roman Denominations (Historical Religions) (v 2) ... probably obsolete now
12) No More Missionaries (AI Only) (v 2)
13) Only Mod Civs (v 2)
14) Remove Vanilla City States (v 1) ... see no. 7, not sure which i've chosen now
14) Units - Starting Scout (v 1) ... probably obsolete now
15) War - Less Damaged Captured Cities (v 3)
Could I ask you what Greek mods are you using with ? I am still testing some mods composition so as to have the better gameplay and so I am interested by other players' experience
(currently, I am trying it with Anno domini mod)
you won't have to wait anymore ;)
if you want the different civilizations to start in their real starting location, you can easily edit the map thanks to the worldbuilder, select the Greek civs to put in the game and also place their initial settler and warrior in the map at their real starting location, even if you don't know how use it, you should be able to do that in less than 10-15 minutes, and you will be able to play thenwith the civ at their good location
@Αριστομαχος, I found time to do mapmaking, and I am making a huger map, I sould be able to publish it soon
I hope, or wish, somebody of the gameplay modders with realism approach would use that (with permission) for a Greek ancient era mod.
I'm using currently Ancient Era mod and Greek Civ Split mod (plus few other mods) on this map. Thing is of course, the participating civs start somehwere randomly on the map, which is just kinda immersion breaking.
I will try to keep making map if I have time
However, ifr someone find a solution in order to make bigger maps, I would be so happy to create a huger one, as it was my goal initially to cover Northern Aegean sea too
The only thing I modified - as I wrote it in the description - is the size of islands, but conserving their shape and particularities
