Personally, I'd love to see a unique unit added, along witheither Lamar or Houston as an alternate leader. And while Harrisburg was the temporary capital of the republic, shouldn't Austin be the capital? (Also, suggestion: the Mission gives defensive bonuses like a fort, but smaller?)
Texian? Rreally? Just Texan would do..
The Dark Knight 2017
A UU would make this mod complete
Are you planning to add a UU?
Clumsy 2017
Texas Rangers would be good too

YAY!!!
Private Pepperoni 2017
Also you should add Buckee's
Private Pepperoni 2017
I would add a unique unit like the rough riders (replaces horsemen).

Rick , you're exactly right. Once you have your ModSupport.sql file with the text, you need to add it to the Update Database in the InGame tab. If this doesn't work, you may need to add it to the Front-end (I think that's what it is, I don't have ModBuddy on my laptop) tab as well. Hope it works!
I had one more question, this pertaining to your TSL. I have my own file created I was just wondering how yours is configured. I was thinking it should go into UpdateDatabase on the InGame tab but I'm not sure. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Hey thanks for your help! I was able to get my own Civ up and running
Needs a Buckee's and a Whatburger as possible replacement buildings.
Dr. Mel Jelani  [
You also inspired what I think I will do for my next civ, Texas led by Rick Perry. That would be nice since I have met him personally at church, I love the idea for H-E-B UB, I'm related to a big contractor for them. Thanks and have a great day! [2/2]
Dr. Mel Jelani  [
kline.kevin , thanks! I agree, Texas is best for Domination and Religious victories. I had to laugh at the pecan pie, brisket, and queso, two of those I love (I prefer buttermilk pie though). I'm currently debating what to do for a UU so I will definitely take your suggestion into consideration. RIght now though I'm leaning towards Texas Rangers that provide culture with each kill and maybe a combat bonus in unclaimed or foreign territory? Not sure, will definitely think on it more though. And keep playing, because there are 30-odd city names that the game picks from, including Austin, San Antonio, DFW (but not Houston, Harrisburg kinda takes that place even though they are not one in the same as Houston took over what was Harrisburg, hence Harris County). [1/2]
Oh - and if you made it with Rick Perry as leader, you could have a Unique Building be a market replacement: HEB, providing +1 culture or every pasture on cattle/sheep and every farm on wheat/rice.
I love that you created the Texian civilization! I have been wanting to play for a while. Also props for putting in Burnet vs a more broadly known leader like Austin or Houston. I played and found Texas to be a surprisingly good Religious civ, which make sense (focus on Military and Religion basically is the most Texan thing possible besides Pecan Pie, Brisket, and Queso). Perhaps a good unique unit would be the Cowboy, a Military Engineer replacement with 4 actions and who provides culture and faith every time he uses an action. Another possibility would be the Texas Ranger, yes law enforcement now, but a good replacement for the Calvary providing faith with each victory.

I would've liked a more modern Texas city list, with Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas among others, but I like that you kept to the historical side. Let me know if I can be any help!

And, for true start location, there are a few ways to do it. You can try to look at Gedemon's YnAMP forum post for some info on how to include, but I found it easier to use a comment on the Venice mod which lays out what to write in a file that you need to create. So take the text, and enter in the correct coordinates (Gedemon's forum post talks about how to do this), and put it in a new file, ModSupport.sql. This needs to be in the main folder with your gamedefines, etc. [⅔] In ModBuddy youhave to make sure you add this file to the Update Database action (both front-end and in-game, if you are unsure what this means Josh's tutorial talks briefly about it). I really hope this helps, I think it would be great to have more and more people making Civ mods. I'm also very glad that you enjoy my mod, it means a lot. Have a great day! [3/3]

Also, for the icons for your civ and leader you have to scale them down to lower resolutions in separate files (256, 80, 64, 55, 50, 45, 32, all squares). And to make logos, I'm not too much of a help (In PS I usually arrange things to make marketing, not making things from scratch). I only used one template/tutorial to make my mod, but I know there are at least two to be found. Josh Atkins has made a tutorial (the one that I used), and I think the YT channel Keniisu has made some tutorials that I haven't seen. Just know if you use Josh's tutorial you might have to rely on some self-ingenuity and also Stack Exchange if you need it. You could also look through this mod (typically located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\289070, my mod will be the folder 1075168889) to see how I worked with his tutorial. Rick Sanchez , hope I can help. I'm not fully sure what you mean so I'll try to cover a few things and also refer you to some help. So, I know you probably have already done this, but if you already have art files for the icons in the top (for showing who's turn it is, on the sidebar when talking to a leader [which I think you are talking about here?], etc.), then make sure through doing find and replaces, finds, etc. that all of your links are proper and complete. If you don't have files, then you need to use something like http://download.cnet.com/Paint-NET/3000-2192_4-10338146.html which can work with .dds files (what Civ 6 requires). You can pretty much do the heavy lifting in something like Photoshop or GIMP but you have to make sure and put it in Paint.NET and make it a .dds so the game can read it. That may be a part of your problem. [1/3]
Hey man, I enjoy this mod, and am trying to create a Civilization mod of my own. I was just wondering how the hell you got Burnet in the diplomacy screen. I keep getting Cleopatra with a blank background. I know this doesn't really apply to your mod, but any advice you could provide would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
Also, your explanation proves my point about the Rangers. They are replacing cavalry. Other replacers are typically mass produced or widely used units in the regular military forces. Texas Rangers (and cowboys, I know), weren't regular army. They are police. Along that line, maybe a reduction of unrest in cities they are stationed in could be a good unique ability.
It seems to me that having them have a boost against barbarians is a waste and would put them at a disadvantage when compared with other unique units. I don't know about you two, but usually, when I'm able to build cavalry, barbarians are gone on my continent. If it were a horseman replacer, yeah. But cavalry?
Dr. Mel Jelani  [
m15wallis , great explanation! You said it better than I could, for certain. I was thinking something along the lines of your suggestion for the Texas Rangers, for sure a bonus against Barbarians and Culture related to an enemy's strength as the Rangers are an icon of Texas. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely take it into account!
@RedneckRapture, Texas Rangers were originally organized as a LEA that could simultaneously act as a paramilitary force if the situation arose. They were created to fight Comache and quasi-military Mexican raiders and effectively respond to any and all requirements of the frontier. As such, they often did fight in conventional battles against those forces. Their role today is to act as LEO "force multipliers" for various State/Local LEO organizations, but they have in the past been called upon to fight in conventional battles against sizable and well-armed foes (most specifically in the Mexican-American War).

On a related note, I think it'd be appropriate to have them be a Cavalry replacement that has +5 bonus to fighting Barbarians, and grants Culture equal to 100% of a Barbarian's Strength.

I kinda expected a Cowboy unique unit, since the cowboy is pretty much synonymous with Texas, and a Texas Ranger is a police unit, not a military one.
Dr. Mel Jelani  [
leawesometexan , I'm glad you like it. I hated a deficiency of a civ representing Texas. One of the first things I had on my list to do for this mod for whenever I get back to my workstation was to try and add a unique unit, specifically the Texas Rangers like you had mentioned. Great to see you're in Denton, I myself am a fellow Texan from deep in the heart of Texas. Have a great day!
Love the concept, cant wait to see it finished up. I dig caligula's idea to flesh the civ out a bit. Maybe a texas ranger UU based around cavalry or something.
Dr. Mel Jelani  [
Caligula , thanks for the suggestion/feedback. I really appreciate it, especially since I am new to modding Civ. I'm currently traveling, and my notebook does not have the processing power or assets to program/playtest. However, in a week, or two weeks, I will be back home for a few days and will try to reverse engineer some things and add your suggestion or something similar to the civ. Thanks again, have a great day!
might wanna add another thing to the leader...right now its just a somewhat better version of Gorgo's Greece. mabye +combat bonus for units for 10-15 turns if one of your cities is taken over?
