I just finished playing a game where I gave this a try. Yeah.... That was a different game.
Waging a war with classic era units, not because I rushed anyone. But because they're all I've got to work with!
1900's hit and the world hasn't even got to the industrial age yet. It was well into the 2030's before I could hit the information era.
And to be clear, this was on standard speed and I was leading the charge in techs! I like this mod.
Gona try the plus 30 next.

This mod doesn't seem to work with Vox Populi, is there anyway you could make a version that does or point me to a mod that does work with it? Thanks.
General Tso 8. feb. 2024 kl. 12:54
Thank you for the great mod! It slows the game down in just the right way to make it a lot more fun.
The Grimwar 30. apr. 2023 kl. 20:57
Question: Can you make it in this mod so that the Shoshone can't recover a technology from an ancient ruin using their Pathfinder's ability? With this mod enabled, that is just straight up cheating!
febreze 3. jan. 2023 kl. 18:30
is there a mod like this for Civ 6?
Oxan 16. mar. 2022 kl. 14:43
will this keep the game in like medival age for the longest? Trying to not have gunpowder

for people who want to change this mod value, it's register in "your document"\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\Extra-Slow Research (v 1), open "SlowerTech.XML" avec a text editor and change the value % of the game pathing u whant

(i put that here if it can help people found it since it take me some time since i've got a bug with the 300% mod, if i don't mistake myself u have to add the value of the pathing u select, for exemple if u want 300% at normal mode u have to put 400 on value [300+the 100% of normal mode] ^^)

The AI starts with some extra techs in higher difficulties, so this can give the impression that the mod doesn't affect them.
Doddery 28. okt. 2020 kl. 18:22
i dont think thats the case abez as i surpass deity in science
abezikrachid 11. okt. 2020 kl. 0:38
Mod only works for your own research. not of the AI
doomswell 13. nov. 2017 kl. 15:33
160% seems like such a precise number, any specific reasoning? Is that like the difference between Quick and Standard for example?
DeletedTaters 5. sep. 2016 kl. 21:55
I'm subbed to the 30%, 160%, and 300%. i can not get them to download. Any ideas, tips, or suggestions? Thanks all!
Flik the Changeling 21. juni 2016 kl. 13:17
For anyone who wants the slower research. Just download this mod and once its in your game menu. Exit game. Go in folder on your PC where mods are downloaded. Find a folder with this mod name and inside theres folder called XML. Inside there are 2 files. Just edit with a notepad one of them where there are values for each game speed. More numbers you add more slower research will go. You can edit super super long research rate on quick games. I just added like 300 to each value and its about twice as long now. Hope it did help ^^ :medicon:

Does it work with the Community Balance Patch?
Krittol 19. sep. 2015 kl. 19:20
@Tnin a good habbit to get into when modding ANY game (be it Civ or another) is to ALWAYS start with a new game, otherwise bugs are likely to occur. While this is not always the case, i advise it to be a general rule you should follow
Living Joker 1. sep. 2015 kl. 17:26
Had a few of these downloaded, but unsubscribed while waiting for the author and test players to confirm all bugs have been squashed.
Will 30. aug. 2014 kl. 15:55
Can there be one that speeds it up, by the same 30,160,300 percentages? =P
Tnin 19. aug. 2014 kl. 11:38
Or can you add to a saved game?
Tnin 19. aug. 2014 kl. 11:37
Does this require a new game?
Ellye  [ophavsmand] 18. apr. 2014 kl. 19:57
Indeed, it doesn't seem to be working properly with advanced starts. I'm going to see what I can do about that.
csaba.csikszem 9. feb. 2014 kl. 9:24
I tried it and the same experience as Emperor VI.
Emperor VI 15. dec. 2013 kl. 13:06
When I start in Industrial era the research time is normal as in vanila. Why is this and what can be done?
Emperor VI 15. dec. 2013 kl. 0:01
Dear Eliye, after couple of more tests I feel compelled to express my apologies. Mod works fine and increases research time for all sides as you intended. It was truely because of Goody huts and because of that one needs to play "Goody huts" turned off if wants to use this mod.
Ellye  [ophavsmand] 13. dec. 2013 kl. 5:34
Weird, I'll test it out. Thanks for reporting!
Emperor VI 12. dec. 2013 kl. 23:54
Dear Eliye, already gave up 4 games due to overwhelming superiority of AI in technology. I am pretty sure that this mod does affect only the player. AI does reaserch by the original research rate. While I research one tech, the other civs have 4-6 techs. Goody huts cannot provide so many techs. I tried to lower the difficulty level but still AI has huge tech superiority. It can be only due to issue mentioned by me.
Ellye  [ophavsmand] 11. dec. 2013 kl. 12:44
Should affect all players, since it changes the Game Speed constants.
It does make "Free Technologies" even more powerful, so if the AI managed to get even just a few (from Ruins, for example), it would tip the balance for a long time.
Emperor VI 11. dec. 2013 kl. 11:57
It seems that only player's research is affected. I have only researched 3 techs and AI already has 9 (without Great Library). Emperor level. This kind of thing had never happened to me before.
foprak 9. dec. 2013 kl. 14:25
Awesome...! this is just the speed I have been looking for. Is there also a way to disable research agreements, maybe a version of this mod that does this?
Jamie 2. nov. 2013 kl. 7:20
There is a "Extended Eras" mod Crayola
lilMobStick 15. sep. 2013 kl. 7:16
Also, how can I make the game years go by slower? I am playing on quick speed to make units faster but want slower research but the years still go by as fast as they would in quick. Any mod that makes the years go by slower?
lilMobStick 15. sep. 2013 kl. 7:14
Aidinabedi, it's because on some diffficulty levels give the AI a technology boost. Get the mod that doesn't let them get that boost, I forgot what it was called though.
sexual_lobster 27. aug. 2013 kl. 12:22
Thanks Ellye, for the response. It might be the fact that I have more cities than my AI opponents and thus higher cost for the same tech.
Ellye  [ophavsmand] 25. aug. 2013 kl. 19:42
Yes, it's a global setting. Also, sorry for the delay regarding the issue with the mod not showing up!
sexual_lobster 25. aug. 2013 kl. 16:11
Does this mod really affect the AI? I'm barely keeping up with the same number of technologies my AI opponents have, even thought I'm producing more than twice the amount of science compared to them.
ralliv23 24. juli 2013 kl. 9:11
Hey There. This mod is not showing up in my Mod folder. I followed the instructions for the 300% and it worked great! Sure mode love to play this one. A little help? Thanks.
KRX 22. juli 2013 kl. 20:44
Good point Zyke! Culture will be coming out of your ears by the end of the game. Although! Research is in some part connected to all aspects of the game. If you're slower to new research, you're slower to new culture buildings.
Zyke 20. juli 2013 kl. 21:04
This looks great. Is there a way to get something similar to these for culture? I'd love to slow down research and culture (so not everyone has all trees unlocked when muskets are coming out) without having to destroy production speed.
Ellye  [ophavsmand] 18. juli 2013 kl. 16:13
Done!

Didn't have time to test properly, but seems to be working alright.
Lethargic Gorge 18. juli 2013 kl. 8:30
Would be great to get 300% one. I used the slo-mo 400% or some other for G&K but since BNV thats broken. If there's going to be bigger than 160% I'll be dling that too. :3
Ellye  [ophavsmand] 18. juli 2013 kl. 7:26
Sure! I'll do a 300% tonight, and I'll see if I can do an adjustable one - that would indeed be neat, nice suggestion.
McNuggle 18. juli 2013 kl. 5:03
Ellye, would you be able to whip up a 300% version? That would be awsome. (Even better if possible is one where we can adjust in in the game via a slider, again if possible lol) Either way this should be great!
Traveler 17. juli 2013 kl. 17:10
Yep, works with BNW for me too. Almost wish it made research even slower.
Ellye  [ophavsmand] 17. juli 2013 kl. 15:07
Just checked it, it works fine with BNW. No changes needed. :)
McNuggle 17. juli 2013 kl. 4:18
Hello Ellye!

Just curious whats the time frame for the update? I am dying to use this mod but I dont wanna break any games lol
Ellye  [ophavsmand] 9. juli 2013 kl. 11:17
Well, BNW only releases for me on the 11th, so I'll only be sure by then. It might need some changes, in order to also scale the new systems and such.
Traveler 9. juli 2013 kl. 11:11
Is this compatible with Brave New World?
paikistasti 28. juni 2013 kl. 11:07
How cool!
Traveler 2. juni 2013 kl. 10:24
This looks great. It will make building science resourses much more important. Also reseach agreements will be game changers.
Dave 11. mar. 2013 kl. 2:31
Exactly what i was looking for, thx
Mostly Harmless 10. nov. 2012 kl. 5:37
hmmm
