Changes - Last Major Update Until "Golem Update by the Devs"
  • Difficulty Adjustments, making greater difficulties more inclined to bully those it thinks it can more with lower thresholds for doing so and for those against their Faction/Alignment and affinity, lower difficulties the AI will need more justifications before targeting others, Lower AI difficulty settings to now play an easier long game for people wanting a less competitive match, if not play on the hardest.

  • Further Diplomacy fixes. Now, the diplomacy Tab is closer to vanilla for values (More Rounded Numbers) such as "Likes/Dislikes" and cheaper upfront Declarations/Denouncing actions, however. Back-end values and priorities are adjusted for AI personalities for now. Adjusting the Diplomacy Tab values was causing save game issues for tooltip panels to bug out, displaying little or all missing information, which is now fixed.

  • As above, this has also fixed AI rulers based on your affinity, Like/Dislike, getting soft-locked between Threat Levels. Causing stalemates without human intervention for the opinion values of Players. Now, changes are more organic again for meeting the cross-over thresholds.

  • Alignment penalty removed for Razing Bases (Outposts) When at war, small actions alignment changes.

  • New and closer to vanilla Diplomacy Values fixed some small issues in Story Realms that were reported.

  • Fixes with threat level values.

  • Cleanup of Mod files and values. The mod should be slightly more compatible.

    - Tested and Save-Game Compatiable on my end. No further updates until the soon-to-be Golem patch unless there are any noticeable bugs. DM for any suggestions or Bugs.

Changes
  • AI - Prefers having more military units before founding new cities from an outpost.
  • AI - Neutral Strategy is slightly more inclined to build defences. This seems to help in the mid-game when opposed by more aggressive AI.
  • AI - Exploration Strategy is now more focused on Exploration, yet a higher focus on removing Marauder Infestation Camps (Red), but not as fazed by random Marauder Forces (Grey)
  • AI - Expansion Strategy - Now focuses more on defence while leaning towards a heavier use of outposts and sectors.
  • AI - Hardest AI starts with 1-3 extra tier 1 units to help clear out starting positions as they have no resource bonuses ect. Until the Golem Update, that should help improve their threat detection and starting game setup.

  • Various - Various tweaks to opinion Diplomatic Values, Diplomatic and Alignment Values for Player/AI Actions, and AI Strategic values - Subject to change on further testing. Some changes are alignment penalties for certain actions, such as removing becoming evil for pillaging your enemies' lands during war or declaring war on Independent cities when they already dislike you for whatever reason. Executing heroes and releasing, for example, is the same: evil for executing and good for release after their defeat. AI alignments still take shape as intended.

  • Bug Fixed - Issue with AI not expanding as the player expands, even when able to do so, due to city-limited values issue.

  • Merged Test version onto Steam version - These were changes that others had tested with me, will keep testing when we can, but it does take time.

  • More changes to AI priorities based on personalities

  • Higher Difficulties will mainly dictate how much the AI tries to scale its military based on the strongest player. More testing and feedback for this will be had.

  • More minor changes and fewer unneeded tables were reset, making the mod more compatible with any mod that doesn't change much regarding the AI, load this mod last for this mod's priority.

  • Bugs involving traits due to multiple likes/Dislikes have been temporarily removed. Pending further adjustments to their opinion values to re-add. I am waiting for the Golem Update as Devs have spoken of more AI changes, which should give time to balance the values for more traits per ruler.

  • Another sweep over for AI Personalities strategy values and priorities.

  • Many minor changes!

    Some personality traits, likes and DislikesTesting further Likes and Dislike for personalities (Still tweaking the opinion modifiers of some), making it harder to please some rulers based on your roleplaying choices and their values/alignment; some may have fewer reasons to like you and vice versa, most now either have 2/2 or 3/3. Open to feedback, so far this seemed to make the AI diplomacy slightly more active by letting you know their thoughts on your actions and with many players, groups of players/alignment-based factions form better so far in testing..Testing is monotonous, as no Autoplay feature is available like in AOW3 - if anyone knows a way, let me know via DM.
    Personality Test Changes
  • Militant - Added Likes/Dislikes - Few Allies/Dislike Many Allies
  • Powerseeking - Added Dislikes - Worse Expansion
  • Revolutionary - Added Dislikes - Bad/Independent Relations
  • Authoritarian - Added Likes - Don't Break Treaties, now disliked you breaking them and admires when you keep them.
  • Fanatic - Added Dislikes - Player having a stronger Military
  • Reserved - Added Dislikes - Breaking Treaties
  • Harmonious - Added Dislikes - When Player Declares war
  • Erudite - Added Dislikes - Weaker Research

  • Smaller value changes throughout mod.

    I'll try and be more precise with changes, slowly looking deeper into modding changes, while still adhering to the main idea for my mod.
    Updated Some personality traits, likes and Dislikes
  • Chivalrous Personality - Also now dislikes when you execute prisoners.
  • Demonic Personality - LAlso now Dislikes you having many allies but likes it when you execute prisoners
  • Solitary Personality - Now more greedy during trades, wanting a better outcome for itself

    Other

  • Most Personalities will focus on Migrating to cities they plan to keep/abosrb, next to no penalty for AI and Player, however, they will still vassalise other races cities as an overlord. They still need the required Imperium to migrate their race, or to absorb to then migrate.

  • Various changes to Personality Strategic Strategies, values, priorities ect.

  • AI Affinity pick heavier to keep AI Rulers inline a bit more, will monitor changes.

  • Less AI Hero Spam, it will now keep its Hero count closer in line with its number of cities unless at its cap, also helping keep main heroes of the main AI/Player primary race.

  • Executing Heroes gives a smaller bonus if another player likes this.
  • Executing heroes' penalty opinion of a player who dislikes this is lowered, however, it is still more than those who enjoy it.

    Notes

  • Thankfully, Age of Wonders 4 has alot of modifying tables for the AI and playstyles, it's alot to go through and make sure its balanced and connected. In time I can start modifying some deeper properties.

- Bug removed with conflicting Likes/Dislikes for a particular personality type.

Reverted some Likes and Dislikes for some personalities while further diplomacy interaction testing is happening, most are following standard likes/dislike traits that are visible in the diplomacy tab, while most have still been changed for their playstyles suiting their personality, such as values in their preference towards, expanding, military, economy and other changes
