Update: Oct 28, 2024 @ 7:59pm

- The Forbidden Sanctum entrance got updated for future add-on testing and making features accessible through context menu. (Will not be included with base Cedar Hill version, nor add-on "until it's released for beta testing").

Update: Oct 15, 2024 @ 8:26pm

What's this update about?
- All additional content, such as custom radio stations, room ambiance, world sounds, Cynthia's haunting narrative voice, and death screen illustrations, has been moved to an optional add-on. This was done based on community feedback.

What does the map have now?
- At the moment, aside from a few diary pages you can pick up, the base map is purely a map—no additional features without the add-on.

- Hotfix, don't use "OnCharacterDeath" but use OnPlayerDeath, note to self LMAO

Update: Oct 14, 2024 @ 2:49pm

- I’ve received reports that the radio is a bit messed up in multiplayer, so I’ve implemented a temporary fix until I can figure it out. The radio works, but to trigger any audio tracks, you need to be within 5 tiles of it when the song starts to receive the drunkenness tag. In multiplayer, the game seems to force broadcasts to transmit only if you’re within those 5 tiles of the device. The moment you move away, the broadcast disappears, resulting in you not getting another tag, which means—no audio. If anyone knows how to bypass this issue, please let me know! Otherwise, well... ‘Unlucky.’ It still functions as intended in single-player, though!

- Cynthia has woken up and taken control of Cedar Hill, making her presence known with some new voice lines.

- I’ve added some death images to better illustrate when players, well, mess up and die. Don’t worry; there’s an encouraging voice line to go along with that!

- Fixed the zombie spawn map, which I accidentally broke with the latest update.

- Resolved some inconsistent text with the radio that was showing different song names because I’m a bit of a doofus and skipped one by accident, leading to a desynced track list.

- Honestly, I can’t remember everything else... Unlucky, I guess! That’s the update—LATA!

Update: Oct 1, 2024 @ 12:55am

Not much of an update, but I’ve made some adjustments to the radio system to ensure it no longer shares file names with Survivor Radio, making it fully separate. I’ve also removed Riff Revolution from the TVs, as it works much better as a radio station. On that note, I’ve added a new station with a completely different vibe—Frenchcore. Whether you call it techno or something else, it’s there for variety.

You might notice some gaps in the backyards of certain houses, especially in the southeast. This is a result of ongoing map changes I’m working on. For now, I’ve only uploaded one cell because the area is still a huge work in progress. I plan to fully finish and polish it before expanding the map any further.

If the update breaks your save, well… that’s unlucky, but updates are necessary, and there’s never a perfect time to roll them out. Enjoy!

Update: Jul 22, 2024 @ 12:04am

Welcome back to Cedar Hill! Here are the changes in the latest update:

• Redesigned the diner, mansion, church, school, and a few shops to align with my creative vision.

• Numerous bug fixes due to the rework of my tilepack from the last update.

• The minimap has been updated.

• Fixed missing light switches in some rooms that I originally hadn't placed (there might still be some missing, TBD).

• Added a small playground next to the diner.

• Added ZombiesType objects to make the map more immersive. This changes zombies' clothes depending on the selected area, e.g., the church will have church-themed zombies.

• The computer, which acts as a TV, now displays overlays properly.

• Created new wooden boxes to better represent their intended contents (maybe I'll make them craftable at some point).

• Added many new tiles like clothing racks and more (yeah, I know I'm a perfectionist).

• Installed new fencing in various areas around Cedar Hill.

• Added one TV station that plays audio endlessly and one radio station that currently has only two broadcasts, foreshadowing events in the next update (sorry, not sorry for spoilers).

• Added new lootable notes that tell the story of Cedar Hill. It's still a work in progress, so the story cuts out at a certain point, but it should hint at where the story will continue in the next update.

• Introduced custom room definition audio for better immersion. This only works in certain rooms and is coded so that some sounds will cut out when the power goes off. For example, a grocery store has background music that would normally play before the apocalypse, but it cuts out when the power goes off. However, if you bring back a generator and it's within range, the music continues to play.

• There are probably many other changes, but these are the ones I remembered over the months. In the next update, I'll be focusing more on expanding the map, as I'm quite happy with how the current cell turned out. It's been through many changes, but it should stay pretty much like this till the end of time. Happy surviving, gamers!
