Changelog for 2.4.2 "Mallory"

Mountaineering:
- Mountaineer is now a character, not a general.
- Added new Mountains: Matterhorn, Mount Everest, Popocatepetl (conquered at game start), Mont Blanc (conquered at game start), Großvenediger, Mount Saint Elias, Tajumulco, Pico Simón Bolivar, Monte Pissis, Ras Dashen, Toubkal, Mount Gongga, Mount Giluwe, Mauna Kea (conquered at game start).
- Renamed Batian to Mount Kenya.
- Changed Chogolisa to Kun Peak.
- Mountains have three different qualities: Height, Level, Risk.
- Mountaineers need equipment. Mountaineers can create better equipment to conquer new mountains. There are five equipment levels for five mountain levels.
- Mountain Prestige is accumulated via conquered summits. The higehr a summit, the higher the prestige. Calculation: Total meters conquered divided by 300. An ideal mountain of 4500 meters would give 15 prestige.
- Sardinia-Piedmont starts therefore with 16 Prestige, because it conquered the Mont Blanc (4806 meters) in 1786. This is done for balancing reasons (Two Sicilies, its direct rival in Italy, gets 15 prestige at start because of Ceres).
- There are three Risk levels: No Risk, Normal Risk, High Risk.
- Mountain Infantry Troops is now a button, not an event.
- Introduced Alpine Heritage as a capacity. Alpine Heritage depends mostly on geographical issues like Summits or Mountain Ranges; being president or board member of the alpine club; or having a geologist.
- You need Alpine Heritage and a Mountaineer Club to recruit a Mountaineer.
- Countries with Mountain Ranges and Summits can train their Mountaineers.
- Mountaineering Expedition now have two bars: Expedition Progress and Mountain Danger.
- Mountain Expedition Journal Entry will fail when risk reaches 5; will complete if maximum progress is reached; or will abandon the mountain when it wasn't conquered in 365 days.
- State Traits shows if mountain is conquered, unconquered or Death Peak.
- Rework of existing mountain expedition events.
- Added new mountain expedition events.
- Scientific Assistants, not Scientists will accompany Mountaineers.
- Geologist may spawn after successful ascent.
- Added a special event expedition chain for Mount Everest, with two branches: North Route, South Route. Mount Everest is quite risky, but your scientists may help in that case.
- "Alpine Club" as an equivalent to the IOC, FIFA and AIACR in the field of mountaineering.
- Being President or Board Member of the Alpine Club gives advantages, therefore the board will be changed every ten years; top mountaineering nations become board members.
- President of the Alpine Club can start International Mountaineering Expeditions. Board Members may propose International Expeditions. Board Members can join an International Expedition lead by the President.
- International Mountain Expeditions will normally not fail, even on high level or risky mountains. Progress depends on number of board members joining the expedition.
- President conquers the summit when the international expeditions succeeds, all other members will get prestige, too (but not as much as if they would get when doing the conquest themselves).
- Added Achievements: Capitol Hill, Seven Summits, Mallory's Last Wish

Geology:
- Added "The Highest Mountain" action for Geologists. This is a small JE to search for the highest mountain in the Himalayas.
- Added a third tab for geologists (organization) for better overview.

Naturalist:
- The Botanical Expedition is now a 2 year expedition and will activate a Journal Entry. This should help to not lose the Naturalist in the Jungle.

Submarine Cable:
- Complete Rework of the Transatlantic Cable. Transatlantic Cable is only one of three Submarine Cables.
- Added Suez India Cable. This expedition becomes available after the Transatlantic Cable.
- Added Transpacific Cable. This expedition becomes available after the Suez India Cable.
- You no longer need to own strategic states to build the cable. Everyone can build a submarine cable. Most important thing is now a Telegraphy Company.
- Depending on the Submarine Cable, you need a large investment pool. Depending on success or failure, you will gain a large sum for your investment pool - or lose it.
- Success or Failure depends on two things: Cable Progress and Shareholders Confidence.
- Engineers traits have a major influence on cable progress. Electrical Engineers are especially good. They are also quite strong in the case of cable rupture.
- Executive traits (the boss of the Telegraphy Company) have a mahor influence on shareholder confidence.
- Submarine cable is completed when cable progress reaches 100%. Suez India Cable takes longer than Transatlantic Cable, Transpacific Cable takes longer than Suez India Cable.
- Submarine cable fails when shareholder confidence drops to 0%.
- There is a chance that the Submarine Cable may not work when it is completed (historically, the first Transatlantic Cable was a failure). This will erode shareholder confidence and destroy most of your progress. However, if your shareholders confidence is big enough, this may not end with the collapse of the project. It is guaranteed that your second attempt will be successful (if you make it that far).
- Many new events for Fundraising and Expedition.
- Scientists will no longer accompany your expedition; your engineer will always be part of it (he is a requirement!). New events in which scientific assistants may accompany your expedition which may become naturalists, archaeologists or ethnologists (not yet included).
- Beware of the Nautilus.

Publishing Industry:
- The Journal Entry "Pro Government Newspaper" will now trigger when you have a publishing company and the executive belongs to an interest group which sits in a government.
- The Journal Entry "Freedom of the Press" will now trigger when you have a publishing company and the executive DOES NOT belong to an interest group which sits in a government.
- Both JEs are not completed anymore. Instead they trigger events depending of the Executive being on the side of government or on the side of the opposition.
- Added 7 new Events for Executive/Company/Journalism dealing with government.
- The Journal Entry "Journalistic Spirit" will only trigger if you have a publishing industry building.
- The Journal Entry "Full of Lies" only triggers if a publishing industry building has the PM Penny Press.
- The Journal Entry for Prestige Prints now needs one of the following: a) A Great Writer b) A Writer and a Publishing Industry with a Literary Publisher c) A Painter and a Publishing Industry with an Art Publisher
- Added PM Penny Press.
- Added 2 new Penny Press Events.
- Newspaper Events now use the Typewriter event icon.

Astronomy:
- Added Events for the Origin of the Moon. An Astronomer can invent the Fission Theory (Darwin) or the Capture Theory (See). In rare circumstances, a Geologist may invent the Impact Theory (Daly).
- Astrophysics JE triggers with Modern Physics. Until now, it triggered after the discovery of Neptune.
- You need 1000 (instead of 750) astronomical objects to invent astrophysics.

Aviation:
- Airline Events should work again.
- Airline Tycoon is now the Executive of the Airline company.
- Airports can not be expanded. Try to get bonus modifiers via engineers and airline company.
- Schneider Trophy Progress is not +1 anymore per week. Instead, it will be a number between 0.25 and 1.5 depending on the traits of your pilot. Negative traits and conditions have an effect, too.
- Less Schneider Trophy Event frequency.

Archaeology
- Slightly shorter "recent archaeological expedition" modifiers until you can start a new expedition. In general, your waiting time is one year shorter now (3 years for short expedition, 4 years for medium expedition, 5 years for long expedition).
- Upon their return, archaeologists have the opportunity to catalog the finds instead of being released immediately. This process lasts three years
