Developer Thoughts: The original idea was to make the unit more rare and specialist, to have it be very powerful for the cost, to make it feel like a special unit that was only going to be used in certain campaigns. However, due to its role as a Men-at-Arms unit, it makes more sense to have it be a little bit more available (even if at Tier IV which is quite late for what it is) it has been re-balanced to be more in line with other units at the cost. These changes make the unit, overall, more fragile and less powerful against infantry.
It is, in effect, a cheaper, weaker Foot Squire unit that can, on occasion, be recruited very early on if you manage to obtain a Timber resource.
