Update: Dec 19, 2022 @ 12:01am

Changed IDs for packs Home Labelled and Extended:

MusicfortheEndHl -> MusicfortheEndHL
MusicfortheEndExtended -> MusicfortheEndEX

This is to standardize the ID naming convention. The old IDs exist in the mod as a shell containing the script for the items but no sound files or anything of weight. They will maintain your loot and give you time to switch over to the proper version, effectively standing in for the proper mod. These IDs will be removed from the mod in 2 weeks.

Update: Dec 14, 2022 @ 6:54pm

Now it might shock you to learn this, but 1988 actually comes BEFORE 1993, not after!

- Removed They Might Be Giants - Ana Ng (1988) because, as I was hurriedly adding songs for the last major update, I failed to notice that I'd put a song from before 1993 into the Extended pack. This song has been replaced with the more appropriate Blur - Boys and Girls (1994). Sorry if you liked that song, but the nature of round numbers means that it sadly has been cast into the void.

Update: Dec 13, 2022 @ 10:12pm

- Substantial increase to base rates for cassettes dropping from zombies, including easter egg cassettes (but those are still insanely rare).

Update: Dec 7, 2022 @ 8:02am

Ten special, secret tracks added to the Silent Hill pack that will not be counted in the list because they are separate from all other loot sources and extraordinarily rare. They are from a different game than Silent Hill (released in 2008, if you want a hint), and are so rare that you might never see one. Just an easter egg, basically. If you really want to know what they are, just look in the files... or go hunting for them, as they drop from zombies. If you wish to disable this easter egg, a new sandbox setting exists to do so that will appear if you have the Silent Hill pack loaded.

Yes, I know, I said 1000 tracks, but this was something I intended to release with the MFTEOMFTEOTW update and didn't really have the time to. I decided to release it now so that updates wouldn't have to keep coming over the next few days. Hopefully, barring any bug reports, this is the last you'll hear from me for a while. Now grab a bat, get out there and purify those zombies to some sweet tunes and maybe get some special tracks for your effort, yeah?

Update: Dec 7, 2022 @ 4:38am

- Adjustment to base Cache spawn rates. After some testing it turned out that while increasing the number of containers they could spawn in was a smart change, the original settings were made to account for fewer containers, so they were a bit too common.

Update: Dec 7, 2022 @ 3:44am

- One more small update, Caches may now spawn in a few more containers.

Update: Dec 7, 2022 @ 3:27am

- Fixed a major bug that could cause some vinyls and cassettes not to spawn.
- Sandbox setting tooltip and arrangement cleanup.

Update: Dec 6, 2022 @ 3:07am

- Actual fix for Home Labelled vinyls having incorrect world models and icons

Update: Dec 6, 2022 @ 2:44am

- Removed Vinyl power draw setting; it didn't seem to work, and Vinyl Players draw a negligible amount of power anyway.
- Fixed missing icons for Home Labelled Vinyl tracks.
- Changed weight defaults to match how they were prior to the update. Sorry I left them at 1 while testing, I forgot.

Update: Dec 5, 2022 @ 8:02pm

MUSIC FOR THE END OF MUSIC FOR THE END OF THE WORLD: ULTIMATE MILLENNIUM PLATINUM EDITION UPDATE how many more words can I tack on

1000 tracks! As well as that, a HUGE overhaul in customization options. After this update, MFTEOTW will receive no more new music; if ever I return to adding more music to the game via True Music, which seems unlikely, it'll be in the form of separate expansion mods to avoid inflating the file size of this mod any further.

This mod likely will still receive maintenance updates and, maybe, if I think of any, new features. I've been working on this mod for over half a year, and I'm happy to have finally brought it to this point. For a lot of this mod's lifespan, getting to and stopping at 1000 tracks was the goal, and we've finally made it!

Thank you to everyone who helped me with this mod; Albion without whom much of this mod wouldn't have worked, Alphadin whose regex made the new systems I added possible to implement in a reasonable fashion, Corvo for getting me into making this mod in the first place, and Tsar for making True Music. Thank you to all of the helpful commenters who reported bugs and requested songs, and thank you to everyone who has some fun with this mod.

I hope that it will continue to bring life and fun to folks' Project Zomboid runs for a long time to come!

Oh, and, sorry this update contains so much 80s Japanese pop--I just found so many good songs for it. I guess a City Pop fad swept Knox County just before the apocalypse, eh? It's hard to resist those basslines!

Without further ado...

- Removed the Silent Hill tracks from the Home Labelled branch and migrated them to their own branch, MUSIC FOR THE END OF THE WORLD: SILENT HILL (MusicfortheEndSH). This comes with some new tracks, and replacement tracks to even out the number of Home Labelled ones.

- Completely reworked the sandbox settings for this mod. Now, all sandbox settings are handled within a separate and required pack called Music for the End of the World: Core, or MusicfortheEndOP. This comes with a new way of handling the loot distribution. Now, instead of having the music items spread across four distinct loot pools depending on which packs you had enabled, the game will detect which packs you have and then add them all to the loot pool, mixing them all together. This trades the ability to customize the rarities of individual packs for a more streamlined and efficient system that produces more natural loot patterns.

This new page of options includes a whole host of new ways to customize your experience with MFTEOTW. This includes changing cassette and vinyl weights, the weight of boomboxes, and the rate at which boomboxes and vinyl players consume power from their respective sources.

- Added an option that allows the game to spawn Boxed Cassette Collections and Boxed Vinyl Collections. These items spawn very rarely in some containers, but will give 50 (default) random cassettes or vinyls when unpacked, as well as a relevant music player. They are guaranteed not to contain more than one of the same cassette and may contain any music from any MFTEOTW pack that is enabled. This option is on by default, and comes with a separate Sandbox setting that allows you to multiply the spawn rate of the caches and decide how many items a Collection will give you.
