Version 1.3.1 "Osman"

Osman I was a 14th century Turkish lord in Anatolia, and the founder of the Ottoman Dynasty. Much of his life is shrouded in myth and legend. The state he established would eventually come to dominate much of Europe and the Middle East, and endure in one form or another until shortly after World War I.

Version 1.3.0 "Miswak"

The miswak is a type of teeth cleaning twig that has been popular for centuries throughout the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. Islamic hadiths frequently mention their importance, and recommend their use in a variety of situations, and it is still used to this day. For example, the Prophet Muhammad is quoted in one hadith as having said: “Were it not that I might overburden the Believers I would have ordered them to use miswak at the time of every Prayer.”

Version 1.2.1 "Dong Son"

The Dong Son culture was a Bronze Age culture located in northern Vietnam during the first millennium BCE, and whose people are the likely direct ancestors of modern-day Vietnamese. Their cultural influence extended throughout Southeast Asia and they are particularly skilled in bronze casting. These bronze drums and mythologized accounts of the Dong Son culture have featured prominently in Vietnamese culture for centuries. In recent times, they are a symbol of Viet society before Chinese influence. A major settlement of the Dong Son, Co Loa, would later become was the first capital of the Ngo Dynasty, the first independent post-China dynasty of Vietnam in the 10th century CE.

  • Added 27 new events about the following themes:
    • 18 generic trait related (the first events ever coded for VIET back in 2012)*
    • 9 generic
  • Added text variations of the “Winter Wind Sentiment” event chain for female and homosexual characters (not sure why I missed that one before all these years…)
  • Added a few new event backgrounds for the Iberian and Tarim Basin regions
  • Some courtiers spawned via event will have a loyalty or favor hook to the ruler of the court they spawned in
  • Nobleman spawned via the “Never Trust a Bandit” event will go to the global pool if not recruited to court
  • Changed Skyrim barmaid event to fire for men only, and flirt/one night stand options will only be available to straight and bisexual characters for obvious reasons
  • Miscellaneous bugfixes

  • Added 10 new events about the following themes:
    • 5 Celebration
    • 5 Shady*
  • Major event chains and rare events will no longer trigger during wars
  • Major event chains and rare events will trigger less frequently
  • All events are less likely to trigger during wars
  • Moved a few events from the five year on_actions to the rare/event chain on_actions
  • Temporarily disabled Winter Wind Sentiment event chain for female and homosexual characters (special text for female or homosexual characters will be added in a future update)

Version 1.1.3 "Zhiguai"

Zhiguai, or “Tales of the Strange,” was a genre of Chinese literature that was especially popular during the Tang dynasty. Featuring supernatural elements, these short stories were often presented as retellings of true, factual happenings. They would inspire Chinese literature in later eras, most famously Pu Songling’s Liaozhai Zhiyi (translated as “Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio” in English) from the 17th century, whose short stories combined zhiguai tropes with elements from other genres.

  • Added 45 new events about the following themes:
    • 7 Spooky
    • 35 Death*
    • 3 Monogatari Referencing*
  • Added two event chains from CK2 VIET: “Love Lost” and “Dream of the Final Journey” (15 events total)
  • Made events slightly less frequent, especially those on the yearly on_actions
  • Fixed missing placeholder localization for the Cinnamon Crunch event chain for several non-English languages
  • Fixed Scholar’s Tale event not triggering first event properly

Version 1.1.2 "Liber Lapidum"

Liber Lapidum was the most famous work by Marbod of Rennes, a French scholar and archdeacon of the 11th and 12th centuries. It was arguably the most widely distributed medieval European lapidary. Lapidaries are a genre of ancient and medieval scholarly books that dealt with stones and gems and their supposed physical and supernatural qualities.

  • Added several new cultural event picture variations

Version 1.1.1 "Al-Tusi"

The medieval Iranian polymath al-Tusi contributed to several fields of science, such as developing trigonometry as a mathematical discipline. He was most prominently the court astronomer for Hulegu Khan, grandson of Genghis Khan and founder of the Ilkhanate. Under Hulegu’s patronage, al-Tusi founded the Maragheh observatory, one of the most advanced of its kind in the medieval world, which employed both Islamic and Chinese astronomers.

  • Added 12 new events about the following themes:

    • 6 Sun*
  • Added new game rule for how frequently events from VIET fire (Warning: This only affects the likelihood - RNG may still cause some event spam, or no events to fire for long periods of time, depending on your luck, so use with caution!)
  • Added special variations of localization for several VIET Events for pagan Norse, credits to tora75
  • Recalibrated the frequency of events to account for the new frequency game rule
  • Fixed event about forgetting a dream making you lose instead of gain prestige
  • Miscellaneous bugfixes
