History of Tur Bus

Buses Tur Bus was born on January 4, 1948, operating the route between the cities of Rancagua, Graneros and San Francisco de Mostazal in the Sixth Region, with only 2 buses, a Ford of 1940 and a Chevrolet of 1934.1
In 1956 he acquired the rights of some interprovincial lines that circulated between La Ligua and Colchagua, founding Buses Jedimar. In 1965, he bought the bus company Tur-Bus, which had services between Santiago and Viña del Mar, remaining with that name.
By the 70's the company already had 100 buses and more than 40 destinations within the central and southern areas of Chile, but it was very difficult to operate since it also had a tough competition in the field.
In 1980, the cargo and delivery service began to operate and in 1987, a new business division called Tur Bus Cargo was created, with its own personnel and infrastructure.
In 1981 it is associated with its competitors Pullman Bus and Pullman Del Sur to build a large bus terminal in Santiago, which was located one block east of the South Terminal (formerly Santiago Terminal), on land that belonged to a dairy; This terminal was called "Terminal Alameda", where the three companies shared infrastructure at first, although in the nineties Tur Bus separates itself from its competition and remains with a separate terminal, within the same terrain, infrastructure that was finished in the year 1992, when Tur Bus already owned more than 400 buses.
Until 1995, Tur Bus and Tramaca had a tacit agreement in which the former dominated the market in southern Chile with tranquility and Tramaca did the same in the north, an agreement that was broken when the company of Jesús Diez Martínez seeks to expand by acquiring the rights, infrastructures and routes of the company Flecha Dorada SAC establishing an operational headquarters in Antofagasta for its local services.
To the above is added in the year 1997 a foray into the air market with the creation of Avant Airlines, which was in force until 2001, when it closed its operations due to the drop in passengers and operational losses that meant the unfair competition of the disappeared Peruvian Airline Aero Continente. The closing of Avant was a hard financial blow for the company, in which he had invested money in addition to the difficult economic situation in which the country was between the years 1998 and 2000, time in which the company incorporated very few units, accusing the recession that then lived the country.
