Do not use this if your gpu is older than 2010. 2012 and up recommended.
Does not work with integrated graphics. A gpu is required at minimum.

Yes. That's right. A model has system requirements. You'd best listen to them.
And for fucⱪs sake read the description all the way.


The Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator. A complete remodel to the best of my ability of Half Life's most iconic weapon next to the crowbar.
Modeled, textured, and mangled until it worked in every engine branch over the course of 114 days.

Partially because I wanted at least one recreation of this gun to look pretty. Partially to prove a point.

Originally authored for physically based rendering. Converted to the most recent format of pseudo-pbr in Source.

How to use it and what everything means:

So first off this model is calibrated to 12 lights hitting it. 4 more than the overwatch models.
Do not shrug this off. This is really important and you have to keep it in mind.

You'll know what calibrated means the moment you spawn it and see it's not glowing. Needs lights to glow. So make sure when you're done lighting to fill in the number of lights remaining with shadowless zero intensity lights.

Just having 12 lights isn't enough. They gotta be touching the model in some way. Basically means the model is between a lights min and maxDistance.

You can fill in 6 of them pretty quick by making a little cube of 6 heuge radius (150-200) lights to fake reflections for the environment around it. You should be doing this for pseudo-pbr models anyway.

And if you are about to complain about the sfm's supposed "8 light limit" preventing you from doing that consider using this thing called your mouse to rightclick a light and disable shadows for it. Congrats. You now have more lights than you know what to do with.


The environment maps are also calibrated to 12. You have no excuse not to use 12.


Models are supplied with alternate versions. There is the very highpoly viewmodel variants as well as the significantly more optimized worldmodels. For each of those there is a regular and supercharged version. Then for each of those there are 2 additional versions of the model that change how the envmap behaves.

-no suffix means it uses a premade cubemap.
-_env suffix means it samples from map cubemaps when lighting is re-enabled.
-_noenv suffix means no cubemap at all.

Choose whichever fits the environment around it best.


There is also a sequence to close the claws.

Cool. Just so you know, it's just a crappy Google Drive link, it's not hosted properly and is supposed to be a temporary thing. I would highly recommend you host it elsewhere if you get the chance, as Google could deny the file for "too much traffic" at any time
