American Train Car Pack

Description
UPDATE August 30, 2019:
I've been absent from the Transport Fever scene for a while. It's unlikely that I'll ever continue to update this mod. If you'd like to talk to me about that, or pick it up yourself, feel free to message me.

I thought it was weird that grain was hauled in open-top gondolas, even if it does never rain in Transport Fever. So, I changed that, and a bunch of other things while I was at it. Please note, that at the moment this mod only changes the values for the default cars and does not add any new ones. That may change in the future when I learn more about modeling. First on my list of things to add is definitely a proper ore jenny...

Cargo types for each car have been changed to match what the cars actually carried, and maximum speeds and weights have been adjusted to match American practice. This means that cars will be quite a lot heavier, necessitating larger engines for longer trains and maybe even making the gigantic engines like the Big Boy useful!

Passenger cars have been overhauled, and faster speeds come sooner to match my other mod, the American Steam Pack: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=930545717

When playing with this mod and my steam overhaul, it has been my experience that most trains will not usually reach their maximum speed unless the route is long or the train is short. You will have to choose between short and fast trains or long, slow drag freights. This feels much more realistic to me so I intend to leave it that way, but it may not appeal to everyone, so be warned! :)

TODO:
  • Let flat car loads show in gondolas
  • New freight cars: ore jenny, steel coil car
  • Passenger cars to match the locomotives
  • Observation cars
  • Cabooses: Generic ones at first, maybe road-specific ones after.

    Working on:
I have the model for the ore jenny, now to figure out what I'm supposed to do with it...

for example after loading with coal, the empty model is what it should be after grain

I noticed that some of the cargo inside the wagons is innacurate

That's great, thanks for the response. While I'm not that into steam I am old enough to remember when SW-1s were the main power in the SP yard in East Bakersfield and Pacific Fruit, if I recall as fifty some years is a long time to look back, had an icing plant for the refer cars. My period of interset is the sixties to early eighties since the rolling stock back then was more colorful and I don't mean their graffiti. It was aslo then that the brakemen still walked on top of the cars to get to their trains break wheels.

I hope that someone will model the special built cars that Boeing used to ship parts for the 747 in the early seventies. I can remember seeing a mixed goods trains with ten or more of those cars on both the SP and Santa Fe right of ways but mostly on the SP tracks. Now days everything is very monotonous as far as trains go and only the local short line seems to have the varitiy of the old days.

Now, if only they could make some DLC with helicopters and monorails ;}

@MFC-03 My plan at this point is to include a HCS caboose like the SP's C-30-1 class, and maybe a center cupola version eventually. I'll probably be sticking with cupola cabeese ;) for now, since my mods are so far concerned with the steam era, but a bay window caboose would certainly be on the table after those are finished.
