Deer hate him! He found out to hunt in DayZ with this simple guide!

After reading this guide, you will know where to find, hunt/trap, and skin Deer, Cows, Chickens, and Rabbits.

You will need:

For deer/cow hunting:

• Mosin 9130, B95, Winch. 70, SKS (if you want to cheat), Izh-18 (rifle), or Improvised Ashwood Shortbow.
  
• Any knife.
  
• Spawn at Krasnostav Airfield (NEAF), Khelm (XenM), Black Lake, North Berezino, Rify (Boat), Svetlojarsk (CBeTnoRpck), or Chernaya Polana (YepHaR nonRHa).
  
• Optional (Tanning): Oil Barrel (with anything in it), Garden Lime, Leather Sewing Kit.

For chicken hunting:

• Any knife.

For rabbit hunting:

• Snare Trap (Crafted from sticks, metal wire).
  
• Any knife.
  
• Optional (Tanning): Oil Barrel (with anything in it), Garden Lime, Leather Sewing Kit.

Deer/Cow hunting

1. Make your way to NEAF (Krasnostav Airfield).
2. Prepare your supplies (I like to bring a lot of arrows for my bow).
3. Head to the stream just south of the airfield and follow it until it stops (Deer and Cows usually spawn in herds there).
4. Don't get too close (Careful the deer can hide from you).
5. Kill and skin them (Use timing on the bow, don't aim sights but draw back and wait for your aim to swing to the right of your screen).
6. Optional (Tanning) Get your oil barrel and if it doesnt have liquid in it, fill it with the stream.
7. Optional (Tanning) Close lid of the barrel, and place Garden Lime in it.
8. Optional (Tanning) Place animal pelt in the barrel.
9. Optional (Tanning) Make sure the lid is closed and select "Tan Pelt" on the pelt.
10. Optional (Tanning) Wait 3 minutes and you will have tanned leather.
11. Optional (Tanning) Craft Leather Sewing Kit and Tanned Leather to make desired item.
Note: This deer actually hid from me, and then ran in a circle when it noticed me. Example: I used a sporter to kill this deer. It took 16 shots exactly (Quite a few missed because of sight sway). Don't repeat this mistake by bringing a Bow or Mosin (or other high caliber weapon).

Chicken hunting

1. Run into a town, city, or airfield and find a chicken.
2. Kill and Skin (Melee and Fists work for killing).
The non-elusive Chicken is an easy kill. They are almost everywhere. Low risk Low reward. Only drops: Small guts (Useless) Bones and Feathers (Barely Useful) and Two Chicken McNuggets (Very Useful but low portioned (Just like real life Chicken McNuggets)).

Rabbit hunting

1. Place Snare Trap on the ground in a Flat, Grassy area.
2. Select the "Set Trap" option on the Snare Trap.
3. Check back in a bit and see if it catches anything.
4. Snare will have 1-2 more uses.
5. Skin rabbit.
6. Optional (Tanning) See Deer/Cow hunting.

Conclusion

Hunting is easy, fun, and a great source of food (especially with the loot update).
This is me cooking my cows in my stone oven.

They should add mines and beartraps back :) Imagine how cool it would be hunting for bears by putting beartraps with some meat and den it gits stuck and den u shoot the fucka

Metal wire will be re-added one day, they just sorta took some items outta the mix to make their job of updating easier.

and u get the stones by mining normal rocks with pickaxes
